The Ivy Royal Tunbridge Wells
Located on the bustling High Street of Royal Tunbridge Wells, the restaurant makes for an ideal spot to enjoy an accessible all-encompassing menu, serving British classics from dawn until dusk, including breakfast, elevenses, weekend brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, light snacks, dinner and cocktails.
Restaurant was very noisy this time. Difficult to have a conversation- regrettably.
We took some very old and dear friends for a treat and they and we, were absolutely delighted with everything. Thank you so much.
Excellent meal with good service and surprisingly good value for money
A very pleasant lunch time spent at the Ivy Tunbridge Wells. The service and food was excellent. Looking forward to another visit soon. Thank you
Always good and enjoyable. Food exceptional, service attentive and understated, ambiance fab
Beautiful food served in elegant surroundings by skilled hospitality staff.
The only downside was that the room was much too hot. I have visited at three different times of the year and it has been the same every time.
Amazing. From the moment we arrived, the quality of everything was felt. Service was exceptional as was the food. Would recommend and revisit!
My only criticism would be that we seemed to be hurried along a bit. The whole dining experience was finished in little over one hour.
The food was beautifully fresh and the flavours stunning. I had two starters the prawn cocktail and the tuna both were delicious.
Average food mostly and one of our 3 meals was poor. Overpriced as well. Poor value.
Good experience at The Ivy Tunbridge Wells for celebrating our anniversary and getting engaged. Lovely food, surroundings, service from waiting staff... however, the Maitre D unfortunately had a personal under-arm odour problem which was quite overpowering when entering the restaurant and when she walked past the table whilst we were dining... this spoilt the experience a bit...
Food is always pretty good, had cod this time which was quite fishy so didnt enjoy that.
One of the staff had some odour issues which was annoying and everyone in out corner noticed it also.
Very friendly and attentive server on our table though
Excellent food and service. Would definitely go back and certainly recommend it.
I've been coming here since it opened but I have to say that this last meal wasn't nearly as good as before. The chicken milanese salad was just a few pesky bits of lambs lettuce and not the beautiful display of past. I also had a ask for lemon which I'm sure used to come as standard before. Still a gorgeous setting and lovely staff - a little bit of London in TW!
Felt like we’re were processed rather than treated as individual customers. Turned away when we arrived early as no room to wait at bar, took around 15 mins to order initial drinks which were served separately and one was wrong, 30 mins before food order was taken, unable to offer a fish course filleted, overall food was not high standard. Deserts best part of the evening. Didn’t feel like the level of service or care from a quality restaurant, more like a chain, where as prices charged should reflect a much higher standard. We definitely won’t go again.
We had an early evening meal and everything was excellent from wine to main course and pudding. The secret of The Ivy in its best restaurants is offering food that people find appealing, using good quality ingredients and making sure that the recipes are consistently executed to a high standard. Service was polite and super efficient. Great value for money.
The ambience of the restaurant is lovely (lots of mirrors and pictures) and it feels quite French. The food is tasty but small portions and the service is generally good. This was my third visit and I felt that this visit was spoilt a little by a drop off in service (it was slow; food was a little cooled; chips were not as good and fresh as on previous two occasions).
Perhaps this was a blip...I shall give it another go.
We have visited Tunbridge Wells Ivy on many occasions and it has never failed to impress. A relaxed yet vibrant atmosphere sets the back drop for great food at a reasonable price.
My family & I enjoy our local Ivy even more than the original London restaurant. Highly recommended.
Six of us came for my sister and brother in laws golden wedding anniversary, the whole meal was excellent and although I don’t remember mentioning the occasion when I booked the table, at the end of the meal our waiter bought out two little pastries for the special couple which was a total surprise and made their day. This , I thought was a very nice touch.
Some staff we struggled to understand as English was not their first language
To expensive to come all the time but perfect for a birthday or occasion. Food and service were amazing. Loved the atmosphere and vibe. Really lovely evening
Wonderful, relaxing,good food,great service
Excellent food and service. The only downside was that the restaurant was quite noisy.
Lovely place to meet friends for brunch. Nice, fresh food. Complimentary second coffee.
Excellent food in a refined and elegant environment with attentive service.
Service was very slow and the staff seemed to be more interested in chatting amongst themselves than taking care of diners
It should not take over 2 hours to serve 2 courses
The Ivy is a lovely restaurant and they employ really good staff so service is just right, not too fast or slow. We have been going since it opened and my only criticism is that I would like them to make some changes to the menu. There are specials but only two mains and I would like to see some new items for starters and mains.
The evening with the four of us was very enjoyable, great food, charming staff and excellent ambience. We were seating by the front windows, an ideal location. This was our fifth visit and look forward to the next.
I have only been to The Ivy for dinner before and in general the service is better and you were made to feel more special then. This is what sets The Ivy apart. Lunchtime was a bit more ordinary, although it still good and the food was good too. Not excellent, just good. There was a poor selection of desserts on the lunchtime menu (only two were available). Lastly, and not least, the restaurant was too hot, which for me is a major factor when eating.
We had lunch and all 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed the food and spent sometime admiring the artwork. Very good service, efficient friendly and unobtrusive
Been before but this time it seemed a little unprofessional. We were near the bar and the till which didn’t make for a restful experience and staff throwing serviettes at one another and questioning if our son really was 20 didn’t seem quite like the Ivy experience.
A celebration meal for our grandchildren. The Ivy catered very well for the vegan and allergies and we all thoroughly enjoyed the meal.
We would not recommend The Ivy for the following reasons:-
1. The restaurant was far too noisy, exacerbated by the background music.
2. Conversation for our party of 4, on a smallish table, was virtually impossible.
3. The worst aspect of the evening was the poor service we received regarding our “pre-dinner” drinks, which after 2 polite reminders, arrived half an hour after we ordered them, and at the same time as our starters arrived. There was no apology for this.
4. We ordered a bottle of your Tempranillo wine (£34) which was not that good, and certainly disappointing.
5. The food was good on the whole, it not as good as we expected from a company with your reputation.
6. The whole ambience was more bistro-like than restaurant, which we were not expecting.
I am sure the above explains why we won’t be back, nor indeed can we recommend you. The Ivy was certainly very busy the night of our visit, and all the staff were smart, helpful and a credit to the restaurant.
I am a frequent visitor of The Ivy in TW (and Chelsea) but on this occasion the service in TW was poor. And all our food was cold and had to be returned. My daughters fish was so overcooked that it had turned to rubber and had to be completely re cooked. No apology from the waiters but they did readjust the bill accordingly at our request. A little less arrogance is required from the staff and please stop serving cold food. Make your plates super hot - this will help! And don't bother putting 3 strands of lettuce on a (hopefully) hot plate. If people want a salad - they can order one.
Very attentive service, food was lovely, good value for money and lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. Would highly recommend to others
Fantastic celebration lunch with family. Food outstanding, service attentive but not obstructive and - essential when entertaining teenagers - a reliably quick turnaround from order to service! Look forward to a return visit!
Very expensive for amediocre breakfast pancakes. Also the breakfast tea tasted funny of chlorine or chemicals or something - not down to the tea blend but the water!
I have been here for lunch before which was excellent but wouldn’t go again for breakfast.
Nice buzzy atmosphere. Most of the food was good but sadly my black cod was very dry.
