Odd service when we went. Took the bottle of wine away to open. Delayed water refills, delays between checks on the table. Maybe an off day?
Food was incredible, staff was incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make the entire experience top-notch. Will definitely be returning.
P.S. Try the Tuna Tartare!
Always a great place to get a decent meal. Appetizer salad and desert were great. Quality of strip steak was average, especially for the price. Wish there had been a good filet available.
A wonderful restaurant menu with delicious food and lovely dining area. 5 star all around!
Everything was excellent. The food and service were outstanding. The restaurant itself is beautiful, classic, warm... If there is one thing I could change, it would be to space the tables a little further apart.
Overall, we found the experience to be a bit out of line with the reputation of this establishment. The Restaurant Week promotion is what prompted our visit, only to find out, after the fact, that only lunch was offered under this program. Can you say, bait and switch? Anyway, the food itself was good, but the atmosphere has a snooty uncomfortable vibe that I am sure the are all too happy about, but was a bit off putting for a non-regular. One of our party was given a steak knife that had a loose handle. When it was brought to the staff's attention, we were told "they are all a bit wobbly, but we are expecting to have new knives very soon..." When I tried calling the restaurant the next day, around 11:30 am, to clarify the whole RW promotion thing, their recording played and then it hung up on me. Terrific customer service.
Seriously? We will not return nor will we encourage others to do so.
I would recommend with a caveat - it was full (restaurant week) and therefore VERY noisy. Server was very cute, food pretty good, but with wine and/or drinks you’re still spending a chunk o’ change.
A bit disappointing- ate lunch at restaurant week. Very limited menu. Put us at a small crowded table. Long wait between appetizers and main dish. Food was mediocre. Nothing extra ordinary and small portions. Dessert was good. Maybe they should not have participated at restaurant week since they seemed to be less than enthusiastic with the event.
Superb food, our server suggested the perfect wines to go with our entrees, we loved the warmth and casual nature of the room...everything was really perfect! We cannot wait to go again!
Very enjoyable lingering for lunch. Food was very good good. Service was friendly attentive and helpful. We will comeback.
We took advantage of the Restaurant Week prix fixe menu and went for lunch. It was a Monday so the restaurant was relatively quiet but after we were seated, nobody came by to give us menus or take drink orders. There were no servers around to even call over. After 5 or 10 minutes, we saw someone and asked if we could please have menus. There was no apology and instead she seemed slightly put out by this request. The service overall was not great and not friendly at all. The food was solid and the ambiance was great but they don't seem to try very hard anymore in terms of service. When you go to a restaurant like this, you expect excellent service so it was a disappointing experience. I felt this way last time I went here for dinner so will likely not be trying it again.
Always a treat!! Food is delish & service top notch. A sophisticated - yet fun - place with great gastronomical delights.
I was really excited to try this place. My friend chose it to celebrate her birthday. We went for brunch. It all started off well with some good bread and olive oil. Pretty setting. The decor is cute and the plates are mismatched which was kitschy. Even appetizers - peeky toe crab and a pizza were good. But then we got the entrees. I got the yellowfin tuna sandwich which i swear was not tuna. Tasted more like meat loaf. The fries were ok though thin and crispy. Being this was my first meal of the day, i ate almost all of my meal. My husband ordered the burger which he said was unflavorful and unseasoned. The best dish probably was my daughter's pancakes which were huge and fluffy. The portion wee fairly generous. The service was pretty good in the beginning as well then almost non-existent. I really wanted to like this place, but it just wasn't worth what we paid.
Great food and definitely high energy and buzzing. But plan to wait a while to be seated, and to join a swarm of people hovering at the Desk. A big dose of chaos for sure! Once you get past that the service and food are great!
The food, as always, was amazing, and once we were seated the service was great, but we waited over an hour to be seated from our reservation time. I know that this is a busy, popular restaurant, but to wait an hour with a reservation is a bit over the top. Also, if you know that there's going to be a night like that, hire another bar tender!
The food was fantastic, as always, and our server was wonderful, but we waited almost two hours for our 7:30 reservation. When we arrived we were told out table was finishing desert and they'd be done soon. After an hour we checked on our table and we were told that the table was finished, they were clearing and resetting and would be down to get is soon. When we checked back in 30 minutes after that, they told us the same story. It wasn't until almost 9:30 that we were at our table. Coming from the restaurant industry, i understand things happen, tables get overbooked, etc. but don't lie to your customers and continually tell them the table is "almost ready" when it clearly is not.
We arrived on time for our reservation and were told our table downstairs was finishing dessert so it shouldn’t long. We then proceeded to wait 45 minutes and had to go up to the hostess to then be seated at a crammed table upstairs. When I said we were promised a table downstairs the hostess said “yeah well we don’t have one.” I’ve been here many times and I’ve never been treated like this. No apology for the wait time or for the wrong table. The food was good as always, but might re-think our usual Christmas Eve family dinner spot this year to somewhere else.
We arrived at 6:30 for a 6:45pm reservation hoping for a very romantic experience. We had heard the place was renovated. The atmosphere did not fail. After some long minutes checking, we were told our table was not ready so the hostess asked if we wanted to wait at the bar. Knowing we were early, we said of course & were shown the lower level bar b/c it has more openings. At 7:05pm, we asked the bartender to check on our reservations. He never came back to us. By 7:30 we finally made a stink & the hostess came down to bar. She had the nerve to say she was looking for us. She never came to look for us b/c we were facing the doorway & would have seen her. Then she proceeded to show us to a crappy, unromantic table in the lower level. When I asked about our table upstairs she snipped that there were no tables available! We reluctantly took this table. Thankfully our waitress was a delightful and make up for the snippy hostess. The food was also very good. But first impressions, from the hostess, can be lasting and I will think hard if I want to be dealt with by such a rude hostess in the future.
Excellent as always
Had a reservation but they stuck us downstairs all alone in a section where the heat wasn’t working so they weren’t using the space. But then they got busy so thought nothing of sending us to a cold empty room. It was my husband’s birthday and I felt terrible that I had picked this restaurant for our group to celebrate because it turned out to be a a total disappointment. Our food took forever to come out of the kitchen and when it did it was cold and mediocre at best. Very expensive and so not worth it! The waiter was the only one that apologized because he knew we were miserable. Never again!
Although they have 2 lovely levels they crammed all diners into the upstairs dining room. They did not have enough seating for those that had reserved and they tried to give us a terrible duece in the middle of the bar. We told them that was unacceptable and waited for a table in the dining room. They knew how many reservations they had and they should have opened their other room.
Service was poor as the staff, while lovely, was overwhelmed - not enough seating or staff. We never recived the bread even after we requested it. Also we requested that the cappuccinos be brought around the same time as the desserts. We kept asking for our coffees and when we finished our deserts they finally came, but we declined to accept them. We specifically asked and wanted to enjoy our coffee with desert.
This is a beautiful restaurant with excellent food. The owner and management should not be so greedy as to cram in guests and over work their staff.
I love the Inn at lunch time. I particularly love the Inn in cold weather, when the fireplaces are going. This time I came with a group of friends, and we were seated at a round table in the main dining room. The atmosphere was lively but not too loud, the food was delicious, the service friendly.
The food and service were outstanding. The restaurant vibe and decor are gorgeous. One small complaint: we asked to change our table (prior to being seated) because it was so very close to the next table. Once this was remedied, we had a wonderful lunch.
Food was, as always, delicious and our waitress was friendly, efficient and gave excellent service. We were lucky to get a corner table as the noise level is high when the restaurant is busy.
Spending time with school friends - 50 years after graduation
The resteraunt is beautiful! The food and service were very good. The only criticism I have was regarding the noise level and the overwhelming smell of the fireplace.
my family and I had a great time. celebrating our anniversary. we also had our infant granddaughter with us.
Went midweek to celebrate my parents birthdays. Wondaful, warm, charming and sophisticated country/rustic style place. Food is amazing! staff is fantastic. Waiter gave an impressive overview of specials and had great advice. Only one criticism: Coffee was not served hot, However this detail, while annoying and should be worked on, does not induce me to lower my overall rating on my experience.
Lovely meal during Restaurant Week. Only critique would be the salad as the side dish included with the veal entree - the same salad was one of the appetizer choices (so, lots of arugula!) Thought that was a menu error. Otherwise, food was delicious and portions generous. Lava cake was outstanding! And such a lovely surprise to have "Happy Anniversary" cupcakes brought over with dessert - very thoughtful and special touch for the occasion (had included that information on the opentable reservation). Service attentive and cheery. Thank you for such a special meal!
We arrived a little early and were given a nice corner banquet seat. Waitress was quick to and out menus but we had to ask for the wine list and she was slow in coming to take our order. The HVRW lunch menu was a great deal. Appetizers (lentil soup and mixed salad were plentiful and delicious though the salad dressing was overvinegared and too acid). Main course (wiener schnitzel with salad and hake) were lovely BUT why serve salad with the veal after having salad as an appetizer. Poor menu choice ! Dessert was a choice of 2 cakes: a lovely chocolate warm cake with vanilla ice cream and a carrot cake which was average. BUT why serve 2 cakes? Poor menu choice by the restaurant. We had a lovely bottle of Riesling which our waitress kept chilled. BUT we had to ask our waitress if there was leftover wine for her to serve the last glass. Our waitress brought us our check before asking us if we wanted coffee or anything else, before we asked for the check. So we skipped coffee. Overall service was ok with some mishaps that we didn't expect from such a restaurant. And the menu choices with 2 salads and 2 cakes were mishaps that we didn't expect from such a restaurant. We expected more.
My fiancé and I went here for our anniversary dinner. We’d never been here before, but it was on the list of restaurants for Restaurant Week so we figured why not. We ordered off the regular menu and were very pleasantly surprised. From the food to the drinks, everything was delicious! My fiancé had a dirty Grey Goose martini, which he orders almost every where we go, and he said it was one of the top 3 best martinis he’s ever had. The portions aren’t terribly small as some reviews stated, but you definitely aren’t stuffed when you leave. We loved this place so much and will definitely be returning at some point.
Took my husband to the Inn to celebrate his birthday. Food and service was awesome! Def one of the best restaurant in Westchester.
I have been told that the pork chop wrapped in bacon was decadent and in fact that is exactly what all the food turned out to be - simply delicious and wonderful. The atmosphere at the inn is also very homey, very warm, very welcoming, and lovely. Also I loved the fireplace. My dissatisfaction came when we were seated for our anniversary dinner and were seated next to two mothers and their children who were so loud it actually diminished our enjoyment of the evening. All improved markedly when they left. Our waiter was good but not great. I felt that he could have paid a little more attention to us – we ended up having to flag him down a couple of times. However overall it was a lovely experience the food as I said was unbelievably delicious and the atmosphere is special.
THE RESTAURANT WAS A BIT CHAOTIC. ALL BE IT THAT IT WAS RESTAURANT WEEK THE STAFF SEEMED ERATIC AND NOT AS WELL TRAINED. SINCE IT A MONDAY IT WAS NOT CROWDED.
THE ARMS AND BACK OF THE CHAIRS IN THE BAR AREA WERE SHREDDED - NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE . SOME OF OUR MEALS WERE NOT UP TO YOUR STANDARD. IT WILL NOT DETER MY RETURN UNLESS IT HAPPENS AGAIN
I'm still on the fence about this one. Is the restaurant gorgeous? Yes. Are the cocktails goofily small pours? Yes. Are the appetizers often so much better than the entrees? Yes. Should I stop ordering the kale salad just because it used to be my favorite and has gone downhill since? Yes. Was the shrimp salad, the butternut squash soup, my husband's chicken all divine? Yes. See: torn.
This restaurant doesn’t reflect the Jean-Georges quality. Poor service from front desk , waiters and manager. I waited 15 minutes after seating until the waitress decided to come to my table. They sent the wrong order and the waitress asked IF I would like to have the right order ! When the right food came it was heavy, over cooked and impossible to eat.
From the minute we walked in we received outstanding service. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable with the menu and recommendations. I will absolutely go again.
