The Inn at Pound Ridge by Jean-Georges
not up to the standards of a jean geoges restaurant
Upstairs had many large parties, high ceilings. Too loud for the two of us! Waiter never told us specials, we heard them recited at next table, waiter too soft spoken in loud environment, couldn’t find him when we needed drinks, etc.
last visit we enjoyed a lovely, quieter dinner downstairs.
Love it there! Always a favorite of mine!
We ate in the downstairs dining room. It was very cozy and a different atmosphere than the upstairs room. I enjoy the dining in both, but this evening the downstairs was perfect. We had the truffle pizza, rigatoni & meatballs, and the artichoke chicken. EVERYTHING was delicious as always! Our server was friendly and let us take our time drinking, ordering and socializing with our table.
One of our favorite go to restaurants
Valet almost ruined the whole night by being confrontational over “mandatory” parking. He was nowhere to be found and insisted he was there even though we had stopped to look for him. That aside, I’ve asked multiple times in the past about sitting downstairs bc we love it down there. Each time I’ve been told they do not take requests like that and we just have to ask upon arrival. The opposite is stated on the site. Also, this night, only about 4 tables were occupied and the hostess told us she had to check if the tables by the fireplace were already reserved (my previous point would make that impossible to be so but whatever) finally, a nice manager asked what was the issue and immediately sat us by the fireplace (no tables came throughout our meal that had reserved said tables. All in all, too many ridiculous interactions that should not be happening at a nice place like this. Luckily, our server was amazing and the food was as well. Unnecessary frustrations though, that is for sure.
Great pizzas and cocktails at the bar. Personable, friendly bar tenders.
I had the avocado toast and it was perfect. I asked if there might be a fruit bowl as a side (there was not) but the waitress asked the chef and they sent out a beautiful bowl of berries!
Fantastic as always. The new pork chop on the menu is outstanding, and we were given the perfect table for our evening.
We enjoyed the restaurant very much. It is a special venue, unlike any other in lower Westchester County. We did find that almost all the main dishes and some of the starters were over-salted. However, we did not mention this to the wait staff so would return again and ask prior to ordering that our food not be as salty.
The Inn is our family’s favorite restaurant and we come 20+ times a year. It is beautiful and warm, the food and service are always very good. We went on New Years Day and it was a little off the high marks I normally give it.
Very slow service. I ordered a mimosa that never arrived. Had to ask twice for bread. Limited menu. Ordered a tuna burger and the fish didn’t smell fresh. French fries were excessively salty. The food was not what I expected from such a beautiful restaurant. On New Year’s Day they should have had better offerings. The menu looked like it came from a cafeteria.
Extremely disappointing experience at the Inn at Pound Ridge. We've dined at quite a few Jean-George restaurants and always have a great experience, even had a pretty decent experience at the Inn at Pound Ridge last year, the food was amazing but our server was mediocre. My Fiance and I had made a reservation for a New Year's Day Brunch to celebrate our engagement, (noted on the open table reservation) the dining room was loud and full, but none of the servers were performing as if they had anywhere to be. It took our server 20 minutes to come over and take our drink order which is when we attempted to place our entire order. We planned to start with a glass of Prosecco each to celebrate, out of Prosecco. We then compromised on other beverages and began to order our brunch. Peekytoe crab toast, pizza and a couple of other entrees. The server began to walk away and then remembered, they're out of pizza today. Between not having the drinks we originally had wanted, the wait and then our meal was again going to be compromised, we made the decision to leave and do brunch elsewhere where we were treated much better and able to get everything we actually wanted. I'm also disappointed that we had made it clear we were celebrating our engagement on the reservation and not one person congratulated us or welcomed us to the restaurant, I think that should be a standard of service for a place with a reputation as highly regarded as the Inn at Pound Ridge. Overall, no plans to go back any time soon, or ever again for that matter.
In all the years The Inn has been opened, we have never experienced such poor service. It too almost 3 hours to eat New Year's Day brunch and the restaurant wasn't that full. When I mentioned the poor service to the hostess, her reply was that they were very busy and had done 150 more covers than last year. I did not get much satisfaction from her reply. It was a very disappointing meal.
Ver nice ambiance, good service, good (but not exciting) food, way too expensive for what you get.
The food, beverages and service were divine.
The only negative comment is that the ladies' room was not freshly stocked nor did it have a pleasant aroma.
The service was wonderful, the food was delicious. Just wish they were a little bit closer to home!
It was a terrific New Year’s Eve celebration - we loved it!
Food and service were excellent. DJ music was too loud in the dining area with no way to control. We left before midnight due to the extremely noisy music.
We think the management has changed because the service has declined. The staff is not as impressive and attentive as it once was. Even the managers who used to ask how your dinner was just walk around and say nothing.
Assistant servers were good. Not sure what the management was doing walking around. None ever asked how we were or if the food was prepared to our request. All in all, waiter was poor and inattentive.
Terrible service, although the food was good. We waited for 10 minutes after being seated to get menus and even longer to get water. The waiter told us he would split an appetizer for us but did not, although it was done for the tables around us. It took so long for the waiter to come take our dessert order that we just decided not to get any. As an added bonus, the toilet seat was broken in the bathroom I used. I notified the hostess who replied with “oh yes, we know.” We’ve been to several Jean Georges restaurants and this was certainly not the experience that we’ve come to expect. Even though the food was good, we will not be returning due to the poor service and fact that I nearly fell off the toilet and the staff seemed not to care.
Always good!! I am a repeat customer, birthdays, new years eve day, clients, friends and family!
Usually one of our favorite restaurants, We came to lunch on Jan 30 and were profoundly disappointed. The service was so slow our lunch took more than 3 hours. We couldn’t find anyone to take our order and forget getting a refill on a drink! My veal Milanese was oily and overly breaded and even the usually fabulous crispy salmon sushi let us down. I hope it was an off day and not the new status quo.
had to wait 15 minutes despite having a reservation. food was fine but just nothing special, given the price.
As usual. Fantastic.
Lovely food. Outstanding service and great place.
The food (Saturday brunch) was very good, but the wait staff was very disappointing. First, my friend ordered a hamburger cooked "medium" and requested that the fries be "crispy". The fries were barely beige and the hamburger was bloody. Then, when two of the three of us had finished eating and the third still had half her food left on her plate, the wait staff removed the two finished plates, leaving just the one still being used. That is extremely rude and certainly should not be done in a fine dining restaurant! Finally, we ordered two cappuccinos and they brought us three. But, nevertheless, a nice experience.
Love this place! Such a hidden gem that everyone needs to checkout.
Incredible restaurant! Cody is the best as well. Thanks for exceptional service
Great flavors - delicious meal. Overall experience diminished greatly by rude welcome/host, lack of service to n the lounge area while we waited for a table, and crowded seating that forced servers to constantly reach across and through the table - a bit like you would find in a diner setting. Food was amazing.
Too much salt in food. Otherwise food is good!
We had a fabulous experiences at The Inn at Pound Ridge. From start to finish it was a delight. My MIL and husband were equally as impressed. Low key, casual and delightful with so many young families enjoying themselves and the children were so respectful and such a joy to watch families together. Will come back for sure!!
Another of many lunches. Despite bigger than usual crowd (day after Christmas) service was efficient. Food good but menu could stand to move beyond usual sameness..
Disappointing experience overall. Menu was pre-set and by the time we arrived they were out of two star dishes. Felt like we were eating food from a catered wedding at best.
