Please visit our website to learn more about The Inn at Pound Ridge by Jean-Georges http://www.theinnatpoundridge.com/ Chef Jean‑Georges introduces his latest venture, a casually elegant restaurant ensconced in the picturesque town of Pound Ridge, New York. Here, Jean‑Georges cultivates a truly seasonal, farm-to-table cuisine, with ingredients sourced from the Hudson Valley and New England, whenever possible. Constructed in 1833 as a residence and serving later as an inn, the building has been painstakingly renovated to preserve as many of the original materials as possible, including four working fireplaces. Thomas Juul-Hansen designed the restaurant’s interior with a modern yet rustic sensibility; zinc and marble accent stone and reclaimed wood. The restaurant’s lighting, artfully conceived by Hervé Descottes, employs paper shades and Edison fixtures to create warmth throughout.

Great food and definitely high energy and buzzing. But plan to wait a while to be seated, and to join a swarm of people hovering at the Desk. A big dose of chaos for sure! Once you get past that the service and food are great!

The food, as always, was amazing, and once we were seated the service was great, but we waited over an hour to be seated from our reservation time. I know that this is a busy, popular restaurant, but to wait an hour with a reservation is a bit over the top. Also, if you know that there's going to be a night like that, hire another bar tender!

The food was fantastic, as always, and our server was wonderful, but we waited almost two hours for our 7:30 reservation. When we arrived we were told out table was finishing desert and they'd be done soon. After an hour we checked on our table and we were told that the table was finished, they were clearing and resetting and would be down to get is soon. When we checked back in 30 minutes after that, they told us the same story. It wasn't until almost 9:30 that we were at our table. Coming from the restaurant industry, i understand things happen, tables get overbooked, etc. but don't lie to your customers and continually tell them the table is "almost ready" when it clearly is not.

We arrived on time for our reservation and were told our table downstairs was finishing dessert so it shouldn’t long. We then proceeded to wait 45 minutes and had to go up to the hostess to then be seated at a crammed table upstairs. When I said we were promised a table downstairs the hostess said “yeah well we don’t have one.” I’ve been here many times and I’ve never been treated like this. No apology for the wait time or for the wrong table. The food was good as always, but might re-think our usual Christmas Eve family dinner spot this year to somewhere else.

We arrived at 6:30 for a 6:45pm reservation hoping for a very romantic experience. We had heard the place was renovated. The atmosphere did not fail. After some long minutes checking, we were told our table was not ready so the hostess asked if we wanted to wait at the bar. Knowing we were early, we said of course & were shown the lower level bar b/c it has more openings. At 7:05pm, we asked the bartender to check on our reservations. He never came back to us. By 7:30 we finally made a stink & the hostess came down to bar. She had the nerve to say she was looking for us. She never came to look for us b/c we were facing the doorway & would have seen her. Then she proceeded to show us to a crappy, unromantic table in the lower level. When I asked about our table upstairs she snipped that there were no tables available! We reluctantly took this table. Thankfully our waitress was a delightful and make up for the snippy hostess. The food was also very good. But first impressions, from the hostess, can be lasting and I will think hard if I want to be dealt with by such a rude hostess in the future.

Had a reservation but they stuck us downstairs all alone in a section where the heat wasn’t working so they weren’t using the space. But then they got busy so thought nothing of sending us to a cold empty room. It was my husband’s birthday and I felt terrible that I had picked this restaurant for our group to celebrate because it turned out to be a a total disappointment. Our food took forever to come out of the kitchen and when it did it was cold and mediocre at best. Very expensive and so not worth it! The waiter was the only one that apologized because he knew we were miserable. Never again!

Although they have 2 lovely levels they crammed all diners into the upstairs dining room. They did not have enough seating for those that had reserved and they tried to give us a terrible duece in the middle of the bar. We told them that was unacceptable and waited for a table in the dining room. They knew how many reservations they had and they should have opened their other room.
Service was poor as the staff, while lovely, was overwhelmed - not enough seating or staff. We never recived the bread even after we requested it. Also we requested that the cappuccinos be brought around the same time as the desserts. We kept asking for our coffees and when we finished our deserts they finally came, but we declined to accept them. We specifically asked and wanted to enjoy our coffee with desert.
This is a beautiful restaurant with excellent food. The owner and management should not be so greedy as to cram in guests and over work their staff.

I love the Inn at lunch time. I particularly love the Inn in cold weather, when the fireplaces are going. This time I came with a group of friends, and we were seated at a round table in the main dining room. The atmosphere was lively but not too loud, the food was delicious, the service friendly.

The food and service were outstanding. The restaurant vibe and decor are gorgeous. One small complaint: we asked to change our table (prior to being seated) because it was so very close to the next table. Once this was remedied, we had a wonderful lunch.

Went midweek to celebrate my parents birthdays. Wondaful, warm, charming and sophisticated country/rustic style place. Food is amazing! staff is fantastic. Waiter gave an impressive overview of specials and had great advice. Only one criticism: Coffee was not served hot, However this detail, while annoying and should be worked on, does not induce me to lower my overall rating on my experience.

Lovely meal during Restaurant Week. Only critique would be the salad as the side dish included with the veal entree - the same salad was one of the appetizer choices (so, lots of arugula!) Thought that was a menu error. Otherwise, food was delicious and portions generous. Lava cake was outstanding! And such a lovely surprise to have "Happy Anniversary" cupcakes brought over with dessert - very thoughtful and special touch for the occasion (had included that information on the opentable reservation). Service attentive and cheery. Thank you for such a special meal!

We arrived a little early and were given a nice corner banquet seat. Waitress was quick to and out menus but we had to ask for the wine list and she was slow in coming to take our order. The HVRW lunch menu was a great deal. Appetizers (lentil soup and mixed salad were plentiful and delicious though the salad dressing was overvinegared and too acid). Main course (wiener schnitzel with salad and hake) were lovely BUT why serve salad with the veal after having salad as an appetizer. Poor menu choice ! Dessert was a choice of 2 cakes: a lovely chocolate warm cake with vanilla ice cream and a carrot cake which was average. BUT why serve 2 cakes? Poor menu choice by the restaurant. We had a lovely bottle of Riesling which our waitress kept chilled. BUT we had to ask our waitress if there was leftover wine for her to serve the last glass. Our waitress brought us our check before asking us if we wanted coffee or anything else, before we asked for the check. So we skipped coffee. Overall service was ok with some mishaps that we didn't expect from such a restaurant. And the menu choices with 2 salads and 2 cakes were mishaps that we didn't expect from such a restaurant. We expected more.

My fiancé and I went here for our anniversary dinner. We’d never been here before, but it was on the list of restaurants for Restaurant Week so we figured why not. We ordered off the regular menu and were very pleasantly surprised. From the food to the drinks, everything was delicious! My fiancé had a dirty Grey Goose martini, which he orders almost every where we go, and he said it was one of the top 3 best martinis he’s ever had. The portions aren’t terribly small as some reviews stated, but you definitely aren’t stuffed when you leave. We loved this place so much and will definitely be returning at some point.

I have been told that the pork chop wrapped in bacon was decadent and in fact that is exactly what all the food turned out to be - simply delicious and wonderful. The atmosphere at the inn is also very homey, very warm, very welcoming, and lovely. Also I loved the fireplace. My dissatisfaction came when we were seated for our anniversary dinner and were seated next to two mothers and their children who were so loud it actually diminished our enjoyment of the evening. All improved markedly when they left. Our waiter was good but not great. I felt that he could have paid a little more attention to us – we ended up having to flag him down a couple of times. However overall it was a lovely experience the food as I said was unbelievably delicious and the atmosphere is special.

I'm still on the fence about this one. Is the restaurant gorgeous? Yes. Are the cocktails goofily small pours? Yes. Are the appetizers often so much better than the entrees? Yes. Should I stop ordering the kale salad just because it used to be my favorite and has gone downhill since? Yes. Was the shrimp salad, the butternut squash soup, my husband's chicken all divine? Yes. See: torn.

This restaurant doesn’t reflect the Jean-Georges quality. Poor service from front desk , waiters and manager. I waited 15 minutes after seating until the waitress decided to come to my table. They sent the wrong order and the waitress asked IF I would like to have the right order ! When the right food came it was heavy, over cooked and impossible to eat.

I have always loved this restaurant but my past two visits have been very disappointing. Service has been horrible as both times they were also hosting parties (Sunday Brunch). Seated the first two people for our party of 5 reservation and sat them at a table for two. They had to tell waiter when he arrived it was a table for 5. They added another table to remedy problem instead of seating them at an empty table for 5 in front of fireplace (which remained empty the entire time we were there). Husband order Avocado Toast off Brunch entree menu - it arrived on an appetizer plate with no garnish. Will not be back.

this happened tonight... I had such high hopes. We informed the restaurant that it was our anniversary. Twice. Once in the reservation request from open table and the next during a phone call today. I Requested a favorable seating for our anniversary. Given This is a Jean Georges restaurant, I thought this was a great place to celebrate. Needless to say, it didn’t live up to our expectations. By a long shot.

We opened with a nice glass of tattinger, then I asked about our seating. It was in the bar area, right around where everyone congregates when arriving. This was a miss. It’s drafty, crowded, and not the place where you want to be seated when asking for a preferred spot a month in advance. The manager accommodated us thankfully and sat us downstairs. We were then visited by the waiter. We ordered a bottle of wine and food. When asked about a particular disk, he didn’t hesitate to recommend the bacon wrapped pork chop.

The appetizers were good. The bread was GREAT. The entrees came out and mine was terrible. I know I sound like a complete a-hole in this review and especially here but it was just bad. The meat was overcooked and cold. This is a jean George restaurant, an entree that’s over $35 and our anniversary and nothing was adding up.

I sent back the entree and the manager had to again intervene, asking what was wrong and if he could get me anything else. He removed the entree from my bill and didn’t charge me for the replacement. Thank you for that. The dessert was the highlight- the flourless chocolate tart. We had a final drink and left.

I will go back. The bar is cool, the vibe is fun. The management is receptive to customer feedback. But really, this place needs to up its game.

Handicap unfriendly. We arrived at 6pm Saturday, and the restaurant was largely empty. We had made the reservation 2 weeks in advance. In spite of requesting main floor seating due to handicap, on arrival, the maitre d informed us that he had "a lovely table downstairs", I pointed out that we had requested a table on the main floor as my wife has difficulty with stairs. To which he replied "we are under no obligation to to honour such requests". To treat a handicapped person with such disrespect is horrendous, insensitive, and shows what a boor the man is, particularly when the place was largely empty. Jean-Georges: is this how you want your customers treated? Were it not for the fact that I had just driven 30 miles to come to this place, I would have left. I will find it difficult to go back, even though we have been patrons since shortly after the Inn opened and come 3 to 4 times a year.

Worst dinner experience I have ever had. Nelson, the general manager, was so rude, it ruined the entire evening. The food was also not as good as it used to be - beef arrived cold, calamari was over-fried. To top it off, they lost our car keys! I used to love this restaurant but will not return until I hear there have been some major changes to the management.

We have been here a couple of times before and on this occasion, we found that the food was not as good as before, the steak was chewy and lacked flavor. The sauce that came with the Calamari was very eggy though the calamari itself was great. We have been to many of Jean George’s restaurants and this unfortunately though extremely busy was well below par.

Our family of four (two adult children in their twenties) had a fantastic time at the Inn. All of our food was delicious, service was great, we were seated immediately. The only issue was our party of four was in between parties of two. Therefore, the other parties were close to us. We would have preferred a more isolated table. In fact, an annoying couple came in halfway through our dinner to be seated next to us. They stood up next to my husband because they complained about having to sit near us. Funny, because we did not want to be near them either. The only difference is we would not have made a scene. They had to sit at the table next to us after standing for five minutes complaining. So, the next time, we will ask for a more isolated table as we don't want others taking away from our night.

Lovely place for a rainy day reunion brunch where emphasis was a quiet place to have a catch-up conversation with a brother living nearby. Impressed that the waitstaff was so flexible and responsive when I asked for some kind of tomato sauce for my white egg omelette and another veggie instead of tater tots and more of those underdressed limp supermarket style mixed greens. The tomato sauce was rich, intense and utterly delicious. The broccolini was also delicious, sauteed in olive oil with garlic. Nothing too salty, which I appreciated. Just natural flavors. Cafe latte was only lukewarm on arrival and in a tiny cup that did not retain heat well. Service was terrific.
