The Hutton Restaurant & Bar
The Hutton is a neighborhood restaurant, bar and wine bar located on Hutton Street between Sanford Place and JFK Boulevard (On the corner of Hutton Street and Sanford Place)in the Heights of Jersey City. We aim to provide a comfortable local pub where you can not only have a pint or glass of wine, but also enjoy great food in a warm, casual setting. We also have a fantastic outdoor patio for spring and summertime.
Food and drinks were great. Pretty place and polite prompt service
Executive Chef Carlos is a culinary genius. Amazing eclectic variety. This place is a diamond in the rough.
Great staff, Family atmosphere, Phenomenal Cuisine!!!! Dined with 14 hyper-critical foodies - all were impressed!!!
La comida muy rica, pero no me gustó el llegar y que nadie esté pendiente de las reservaciones.pero por lo demás estuvo muy rico todo asi que le daremos otra oportunidad.
Love this place! Cool little bar and restaurant. Hidden gem. Def love the vegan and gluten free options
Always a treat - creative, seasonal/market cuisine without the usual attitude you have to tolerate for it - actually, instead you get service that genuinely cares. LOVE this place!
Very nice afternoon with family and friends. Irish music added bonus!
I made a reservation for a Saturday night. There was no visible host/hostess so we asked a bartender what we needed to do. He was brusk and not helpful. Granted that is a very busy time but there should be someone to check in with about a reservation. When someone did appear I told her that the noise level inside was terrible so I asked for an outdoor table. The hostess said she was going to check outside and didn't come back. After about 10 minutes we decided to leave and find some place else. I'm very glad we did.
Service is not great. Don’t know why. Our server was pleasant. Maybe she is all alone? The kitchen completely forgot to make one of the meals in our party of 7. They made it right, didn’t charge for it but it ruined the evening. We would have preferred to have the meal in time vs a free meal.
We were a little nervous, heading into The Hutton, that the experience wouldn't live up to high expectations, having read the other reviews here. The photos online give it a classier vibe than what you get in person, which is a very casual, almost sports bar flair, complete with a kitchen that (if you don't look closely) might have been cranking out hot wings all day.
However, from the first bite of food, it was clear coming here was the right choice. The ingredients were impossibly fresh, and delightfully mixed. I'm choosing "delight" very deliberately, for that's the sensation our taste buds were giving us. The service was excellent, and the food was a better value than most of what we've seen closer to the waterfront.
Thanks for the amazing meal, Hutton. We'll be back.
For the scenery and bar yes but, for food no. Im going to be honest the steak could of been better knowing youre paying that amount for it.... But, the the appearance was nice!
I would definitely recommend this place again. It was fun for a group setting and perfect for people who love to share. So many delicious appetizer choices to split.
Had a great time here service is excellent! Really enjoyed my food and the drinks
Great ambiance, food and drinks for a casual get together or a low key special occasion.
New spot for the summer, HANDS DOWN!! Great music and food plus services was A 1. Can’t wait to come again.
Great place in the heart of JC, NJ! The menu was delightful and the food was delicious. A quiet patio on a warm Spring evening was a perfect option to sitting in the pub interior. Will go there again!
The drinks , service and atmosphere are perfect but the food ? Lacked flavor - after reading the raving reviews for the burger i gave it a try and was underwhelmed.
Food was excellent (brunch) and the outdoor patio was awesome. Will definitely be back!
I'd heard only good things about The Hutton from neighbors so when a brunch opportunity came around I grabbed a table for 6 and headed over.
The brunch selection was varied and the drinks were tasty. Some of the food was a little cold, but eating with kids I can't remember my last hot meal anyway. The place was very crowded, but the noise level was reasonable. The Hutton is small and because of the lack of restaurants in the neighborhood, is usually busy - make a reservation! The service wasn't super speedy, but not unreasonably slow for prime brunch time. Will check it out for dinner someday soon.
We my husband and I had a wonderful time . Food was delicious, ambiance awesome. The restaurant was so well styled. Parking is a bit of a pain but it is what it is. Will so be back, can’t wait to have dinner in the backyard.
The service was really good. The food was well prepared and everything had an interesting and largely successful twist.
Best dinner I've had in a long while. Contemporary and diverse menu. Appetizers and dinner were delicious. Service was quick and polite on a busy friday evening. Small space so was a bit loud but food made up for it. Will definitely come again.
Great corned beef and cabbage paired with Guinness ale during St. Patrick’s Day Celebration Sunday 17th of March 2019
seated immediately. Great food. Good neighborhood spot. Wish there was parking
We had a great time celebrating Valentine’s Day at The Hutton. The staff was extremely attentive and pleasant. We will definitely go back again for dinner, as well as recommend it to our family and friends.
very good food, ambiance, service, etc. Would definitely go back.
The Hutton is around the corner from me and the drinks are reasonably priced but I find that the price of the food is weirdly nonproportional to the drinks. That said, the food is really is amazing. I always enjoy it! The Hutton is best in the summer when you can eat outside in the courtyard.
Love this spot, it's become my home bar/restaurant after a move from queens to JC. Management and staff are awesome, personable and on point with their skills. The space is well designed yet low key. A great spot to bring out of town guests, a glass of wine with a girly or even great to dine alone. Food is good for plant based, a couple vegan options and specials every week especially for those who eat meat. I'll be back soon.
Pub food with an upscale taste. Pleasantly surprised. Food was excellent, drinks were perfect and service was great! Will for sure be back.
The food was amazing. Loved everything about this restaurant. It’s a hidden treasure!
Love the Hutton. Have been several times and it's always a great experience.
The menu was creative and the food was delish!
Great restaurant in the heights! Delicious food, nice ambiance, cool backyard/outdoor space.
Loved the outdoor setting at The Hutton. They did a great job of creating a courtyard dining experience in the middle of a neighborhood that is not that attractive. The inside of the restaurant looked very dark and needs to be updated. But since we ate outside, it didn't matter to us.
The food was EXCELLENT! Loved both our appetizers and entrees.
The Hutton has a great local, neighborhood ambiance and the cocktails and food were exceptional. Highly recommended!
We have visited the Hutton upwards of 20 times in the last year- it has replaced our previous favorite places to dine by a wide margin. The menu is comfort food and eclectic all at the same time. Because even the Hutton Burger will taste like no other burger you have ever had. The Seafood, Pasta dishes and appetizers are all unique and different. All is done on premises. Top bites : Apple Guacamole, Smashed Avocado salad, Hutton Burger, Barbeque Chicken, Pasta is made daily so each day highlights a different pasta in a Chicken Bolognese sauce. The daily specials are simply amazing. And if you are still hungry - try and walk away from their dessert menu is sinful. As for service you have never felt more welcome in a place than manager - Robert and server par excellence Jennie (our personal favorite!) Please try it you won't be disappointed. It is a welcome and needed addition to the Jersey City Heights neighborhood.
We have come back time after time always on a Sunday for brunch and a little Trad Session. We've never had a problem with parking or finding the perfect table. We will be trying it on a Friday or Saturday night soon!
Great find and good fun. Try the outdoor seating.
Second visit, as good as the first which was great. Inventive menu, all entrees have an interesting twist which makes them far above average. Quick service. Many drink options all at a reasonable price. Truly a neighbor hood gem.
