We had a lovely meal! The service, food, ambiance, absolutely everything was perfect! This was my Birthday meal and it was exceptional!
Thank you Horseshoes for a lovely meal.
Keep up the good work, we would definitely recommend
The food was AMAZING. We had three courses as the food was so good. Staff were very polite and friendly and the atmosphere was great. Will definitely be back!!
You will not find a better country pub setting to eat at. The Horse Shoes has that perfect blend of historic queues and 21st century clean interior splendour. It’s is cavernous with many sections to its seating arrangements. Would you like to sit by the fire? In the veranda? Or in the lounge, madam?
Service is friendly, experienced and salt of the earth. My complex food requirements were happily catered for. There are loads of traditional pub food options and their classier specials range.
Food is cooked using fresh ingredients and decorated in a beautiful selection of ceramics that turns the presentation up to 11. The food tastes beautiful and price is spot on for this higher end pub eatery.
The fish cakes are always good.
The chicken & leek pie, the pastry was too thick and hard to cut through but had a nice taste.
The horseshoes was not busy that day, so there were not many staff around to ask for more drinks etc.
Normally love eating here but service was very very slow and the food was passable. The restaurant was empty except for one other table, so no excuse for slow service.
Visited The Horseshoes on New Years Eve , the food was lovely as it had been on our 2 visits previous. Unfortunately there were a few issues with the service, firstly we were unaware that there was a set menu and the lamb was already sold out , our starters were given to the table beside us they had ordered the same so ate them ,but then wondered why the other 2 starters for their party of 4 had not arrived when they had finished theirs , so we had quite a wait for our starters. Our main meal arrived and the starter plates had not been cleared away. Also my steak was cold. We did mention our disappointment and the waitress was very apologetic and took money off our bill. It won’t put us off visiting again as the pub is lovely and the food very good .
We arrived early eve, and found items on menu had run out 7pm
A girls four meet up for food and a chat. Service was good as we were not in a rush. We love sitting in the conservatory, as it has nice views and it's not as dark as main pub. The only downside on that particular day was that one of the ladies toilets was leaking water all over the floor and no one had put an alert sign on the door. Other than that, it was great!!
Always a great place for lunch with friends. I can recommend a visit.
its about 6 miles from home, but one of the best - good off road parking is a plus. Food is good as is the service normally - they lost a drinks order on sunday, but its an exception to the normal standards
Nice sunday lunch, but a few niggles. Friendly staff, moderate paced service slight over cooked carrots
Very friendly accommodating staff, lovely rustic surroundings.
We had a lovely evening and would reccomend to family and friends.
We love the Horseshoes. The food never fails to impress. Service has been a little slower than usual but we were there and not tight for time so didn’t impact our evening
Great food and drink. Sam was our waiter for the evening. He provided and friendly and decent service. Felt for him though, the establishment could do with a few more members of staff. Chief deserves a pat on the back, love the flavours.
Have been here on a number of occasions and usually very good. Service on this occasion was a bit stretched albeit staff were courteous and apologetic for delays. Food was Ok but has been better on previous visits.
Great place, staff lovely all very helpful. And the food was brill Thank you! 😊
Booked for my daughter’s birthday. Will not be returning.
1) No one manning the desk to show us to our table so we just had to hang around like lemons on arrival.
2) Quite a lot of menu items were unavailable. I can understand the odd 1-2 but this was more like 5-6 which substantially impacts choice.
3) Service throughout the meal was horribly slow. Table next to us complained loudly & we empathised. My sense is that staff are well meaning but untrained/ lacking leadership. They seemed to have trouble prioritising which table / task to do next.
Food was average at best and certainly didn’t improve from being lukewarm - presumably sitting under lights waiting for service.
We cut our losses after 90 minutes and left before dessert.
If you are in the area, don't miss out on this place - a proper pub with a great menu and superb service ethic.
The decor, setting and ambience of the restaurant was lovely when we entered and the evening looked full of promise of a nice meal out. The service excellent and very friendly but as we sat down we were given the "bad news" that several items that were not available as they had sold out that day, eg no burgers, sea bass or chicken. Taking into consideration dietary issues and personal taste that left few options. My companion had the Chicken Pie but had to search for the chicken in a hard pastry crust and i had a steak which had to be sent back as was served raw instead of medium rare. The waiter changed it without any fuss and agreed that it wasn't cooked and brought me a replacement fairly quickly but the steak was very tough. The food really was not great and even my Espresso Martini was a very poor watery imitation. Our chairs were stained and dirty. I could not fault the waiting staff who were friendly, efficient and great at their job but were let down by poor chefs and even poorer management who could not ensure a full menu was available. I don't like giving a poor negative review but the food really didn't warrant any praise at all only the waiting service deserves a 10 out of 10
Nice salads. Friendly waiting staff and lovely restaurant.
Always enjoy my visits to the Horseshoes.
Great place and staff so helpful and friendly.
Great as ever
Used to be a really fantastic pub but quality of food and service is suffering from too many customers and not enough staff. Two recent visits were really disappointing. Service very slow - almost non-existent. Food has really gone downhill... eg. Really average roast potatoes - not crispy! - over-baked Yorkshire's - inedible - and average veg at a recent Sunday lunch. It's a real shame. Was our 'go to' venue for small lunches and big family dinners.
This is a lovely old Kentish pub in a pleasant country setting that has been tastefully renovated to provide a comfortable and relaxed dining experience. The food is a cut above the average pub offering, good value and the staff are helpful and friendly. My lunch occasion was slightly let down by the fact that our order took a long time. On asking, the system had failed to register the order in the kitchen and so the lunch took much longer than it should. However, when the food did arrive it was excellent and I was offered a free glass of wine to compensate. So, the team did everything they could and it was an enjoyable experience overall. I will visit again and would be happy to recommend this pub.
When we got to the restaurant they had no reservation in our name, the table next to us had 3 children under 3 who screamed constantly in high pitch . They were still there when we left at9.45. Lovely restaurant great staff but the ambience this night was more like a crèche.
I have not been to the Horseshoes for a long time and after this recent visit, I remembered why. The food was lovely but the service was shocking. The waiters were very friendly and polite but we literally had to ask for everything. For example, having sat and looked at our drinks on the bar for 10 minutes, I collected them for myself! The 3/4 waiters standing around seemed to find this funny - we assumed they would get the hint. We had to ask 3 times for a bottle of water. They seemed unable to scan the room and anticipate the needs of the customer.
We went to the Horseshoes for a friend's 50th birthday. Lovely atmosphere and food but however, we will not be going again because the whole experience was ruined by the service. I have never not left a tip before.
Lovely lunch but lucky to get a table as they hadn't received booking from open table, despite my having a confirmation email from them!
