We have two comfortable and modern spaces for dining and a large bar area for drinking. Whether you are in the mood to put your feet up and enjoy a freshly prepared bar snack, treat the family to an excellent dining experience or grab a refreshing pint in our wonderful garden, we look forward to seeing you soon.
We are proud to serve the best local ales, an extensive range of up to 40 gins and the finest wines. Our experienced chefs prepare a wide range of dishes using fresh, local produce.
Our desserts are to die for! We regularly receive fantastic reviews, especially for our cheesecake which customers have been know to travel from afar to experience.
One of our party ordered a steak to be cooked medium to well but when he got to the middle of it the steak was rare. They had also asked to have no rocket on the plate but it was put on regardless. Perhaps this was because the waitress took our order without writing it down.
We also noticed one of the waitresses was handling some of the dessert food having touched her hair on a number of occasions prior to this and and had she not washed her hands.
Our second visit, consistent friendly service, good food at sensible prices. Will return.
I found the Hollybush warm and welcoming but not a good choice/enough on the menu. The service was good.
The Hollybush is a nice place. Everyone was pleasant and no issues really. The food was good but priced slightly high. Starters especially were not great value but tasty none the less. My main was excellent and well presented. Again they were a little over priced in our opinion. Paying 3 x times the worth of a bottle of wine also grates but pretty common practice these days that you cannot escape unfortunately.
Always great to eat at the Hollybush. The food quality is amazing and the attentiveness of the staff a pleasure.
A really lovely meal with friends. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and even when the goats cheese was forgotten from one of the meals, the waitress was very accommodating and provided it with crackers as a cheese board. Gluten free cheeseburger was a treat! It was just rather hot in the pub itself but it was busy. A lovely evening.
We have been to the hollybush several times before and had a lovely meal, but so good this time which was disappointing as took parents for a treat.
We wouldve liked to have stated longer for a drink in the bar but as it was so busy there was no where to sit and we were told we were not allowed to stay in the resturant to drink which was a shame. Food was delicious though.
The staff were welcoming from the minute we stepped through the door. Service was prompt & always with a smile. Food was delicious, as per our previous experiences. The size of my cheesecake was more than I could handle.
Very enjoyable meal cooked and served well.
Only criticism is a limited menu.
This is the best restaurant in the local area, the food has alway been excellet, the service friendly and attentive and the beer selection is one of the best in the area too. It's my girlfriends favourite eating establishment by far.
Very nice food, presented well, and tasted good.
Waiting staff were friendly and efficient.
Will visit again, and would recommend the Hollybush as a nice place to eat.
Lovely pub food was typical rushed xmas menu..well overcooked food and dessert was appaling..
Perfect pre-Christmas family meal! Food cooked to perfection staff and service friendly and swift. Highly recommend this venue
Thought we would try the Hollybush as hadn’t been here in years, we weren’t disappointed, The staff were very friendly , the food was lovely , will definitely be going back 😀
Great food. Not hurried along. Seated near kitchen and could see what was happening, very interesting. Nice space between tables so not cramped. Would recommend.
Eat there about every few months but this was the worst experience. Music was way too loud, service not very attentive & we all had a roast & the meat portions were very small compared to last Xmas when my sister visited from Spain. We take her there every Dec to celebrate our late Mother’s birthday , but was not at all impressed this year so will continue to drink there but not to eat. It’s a shame, but I guess everything changes & we need to find another local food venue
Went for Sunday lunch. It was busy and noisy. We struggled to have a conversation due to the proximity of a large group. Our table was also right next to the service desk and the kitchen which was rather distracting. The service was quick but we were disappointed with the food: meat was too fatty for our liking and the roast potatoes not crispy at all. The mashed Swede though was good.
We were seated very quickly & offered a drink . Order was taken quickly & efficiently by happy smiling staff . Starters appeared in a reasonable time & quickly cleared when finished .
I had the special braised ox cheek which was stunning ! Only slight complaint might be that a separate dish of veg would have finished it off especially as it cost £18 !
Partner had gammon steak which was also very good . Both were good size portions .
Staff were very attentive & smiley .
Will defiantly go again !
The food was very good, service was good and very quick and hot, if you have a dog you have to eat in the bar which is a little difficult but otherwise good day.
Overall, I think it’s a great venue for a special occasion (we were there for a birthday), however I wouldn’t choose it again as the prosecco cost £26/bottle, champagne prices for Italian fizzy wine! Our party got through 4 bottles, it wasn’t until the bill arrived we realised & whereas I didn’t expect them to compete with the likes of Wetherspoons as the experience is far superior, the extortionate cost of a bit of fizz made it poor value for money. Shame, because it’s a cosy, classy venue & the staff are very attentive - suppose it’s ok if you can stick to a glass of tap water, but it’s off my list for a special occasion.
If you looking for somewhere to eat in the "Kingswood" part of Bristol go here, really good food that goes beyond the so called pub classics. Excellent
Peasant and helpful staff and good range of drinks. Food a little more expensive than average, but food quality was well above average, so quid pro quo!
Great service & great food, even better Gin selection!
Unsure if I would recommend, have had nice food and good service on previous visits.
This time the food was good although they had ran out of a lot of stuff . The waitress couldn’t be both to serve us. Just stood around. A real shame.
Good food and friendly service
Really good food, service was fantastic. Do not have a bad word!
There needed to be more vegetables with the roast, I would expect more than half a carrot for the money
Lovely Sunday roast! Child’s meal was a good size. Could just do with a small amount more veg but it was good to hear the gravy was gluten free.
Great experience around. Would definitely visit again and recommend to friends and family.
Good food and menu, interesting specials and great service
Lovely food, myself and my partner could not fault it the only wish she had was for it to be abit bigger but i was happy with the size. The lady who sat us down and took our food was outstanding i never caught her name.
As our nearest pub, would love to be able to rate the Hollybush as high as possible. However, although it’s a lovely looking pub and the food is good (if not a little dear) service is really poor. Staff are friendly but waiting times are long and many tables whilst we were there (including us) simply gave up on, for example, ordering more drinks or desserts. Front of house really needs attention. Get this right and it’s a great place.
food was great, pub nice ,went on a Sunday dinner time and sat in exstention, was a bit noisy, will go again in weekday and sit in pub not exstention.
Food was brilliant, we all had Sunday roast and it was beautiful. Service brilliant and our hostess Holly couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming - will be coming again soon!
Love the location, feels like you’re in town. We always bring friends, and highly recommend. Menu changes frequently, being a vegetarian you never get bored 👍
Good atmosphere, attentive service and plenty of menu choice. One our party really liked the gammon steak saying it was the best ever! The pork belly on chorizo and butter bean stew needed more beans and less chorizo to balance the dish, also can’t remember seeing the advertised spring greens on the dish. Would also like to see different white wine varieties apart from the normal Pinot, Chardonnay and Sauvignon.
Great all round. Service very good, even tho it was busy, my Steak was the best l have had for a long time, and the Cheesecake....well, you have to try it!
Will definitely visit again soon.
Lovely food as usual , always enjoy this venue , however on this occasion the staff seemed a little disorganised , we were shown to our reserved table , then another member of staff questioned why we were sat there ? some confusion I think , then our food took absolutely ages to arrive , when it did it was first class as usual, this is very unusual for this venue & I hope it doesn’t happen again
Food very good
Staff very helpful
Portions were very good
I had the the baked plaice and my husband had the pork was very tasty and full of flavour
For starters we had onion bhaji and curried chickpeas and my husband said they were better than our normal curry restaurant
