Was very noisey kept mishearing my Aunty and Uncle sitting across from me. Food was beautifully presented but not quite as flavourful as it looked. Service was slow need to employ one more person on the floor. Priced ok for venue and address. Gorgeous interiors and ambiance aside from noise level. Will definitely return because overall was a pleasant experience in the city.
Great service, lovely atmosphere and delicious food and drinks. This place is always consistent. Only minor thing is steak was so rare, despite ordering medium, but overall it was a great experience.
Food is good although a bit over priced. A bit too noisy but overall good.
Great place to go for lunch! Food was good too. Thanks
Great little place with loads of character. Would happily go back
Very accomodating to my child and I - particularly with a big and bulky pram in such a small space. Food is fabulous as always. I love coming to the grounds and I'll be back.
Great service - except the waiter rolling his eyes twice!
Very very nice
I love the ambience & friendly service. The portions could be larger for price. My guests loved the venue.
Amazing decor - felt like I’d step back in time. Very well run, service friendly and professional. Nice food with good menu. Highly recommend but be prepared for a wait for table if you haven’t booked
Made a booking and arrived on time but had to wait 10 minutes for a table. Coffee and juice came promptly. Burger was mainly just meat and lacked dimension. Mediterranean salad was served incorrectly with tuna and had a lot of sour tasting mayonnaise. Not the most pleasant dish. A lot of frew hah about this place but once is enough for us.
Everything here was great.
But booking was for 11:15 but the system at the Grounds end said 8:45 even though my confirmation email said 11:15. Which meant we had to sit outside and didn’t get the full experience we were after which was disappointing.
Waiter was pretty ordinary.
We loved checking this place out over the long weekend. We are glad we had a Sunday breakfast with you guys!
Overhyped and overpriced.
Can’t see why people queue to get into this place.
People are so crammed in that you can’t have a conversation as it is too noisy AND people are too close.
I had the waiters butt in my face whilst he took the order of the table next to me, which was incredibly uncomfortable.
The food is basic and I was disappointed that my order was a cold dish. It did not say this would be served cold and the one hot element (poached egg) was cold as well as it was put on top of cold food from the fridge, what is the flippin’ point of that.
When you read grilled halloumi, roasted cauliflower etc… you would not expect this to arrive fridge cold.
Such a nice place. Our waiter Cooper was so good and attentive. Lovely atmosphere and the ambience takes you back in time. Food was great, definitely recommend for any occasion.
Way too noisy & the tables were far too close together. Not comfortable at all. And I was not given a choice about tipping, the waiter had already loaded the eftpos machine for a payment to be added. We are not America & tipping should not assumed! Not impressed.
Delicious food. Our table was a little tight and we felt a little rushed but it’s a great city location for a tasty brekkie.
Loved the vibe and the venu. Would definately go again
Service was fantastic, food came quickly and was dekicious
Staff looked the part but found them to be quiet rude especially the hosts upon arrival and felt rushed to order and exit. Won’t be returning and would not recommend for breakfast/brunch.
Definitely not child friendly.
I had high expectations of the food as I love dining at the grounds alexandria but the food was also a let down.
Great waiter (man from Belgium). He made the evening
Waitress bought 3 bottles of wine ( first was a white 2nd a moscata 3rd a prosecco) and we still didnt get our bottle of sparkling. Staff could not move us to warmer table out of the draught even though there were clearly tables available. We sat for an hour without getting a drink. One of the glasses was dirty and chipped. We walked out after ordering. the host couldnt care, the staff couldnt care. Dont go here if you expect service. Cant tell you about the food because we sat there for an hour and actually didnt get served anything except a headache and ansgt. A real shame for a celebration lunch. Go next door to glass at the Hilton instead. So disappointed.
Great place especially for a wintery lunch! Service was exceptional and food tasted nice it was just the portion sizes and presentation that needs a review otherwise everything else was lovely..
An absolute hidden gem in the heart of the city! Brilliant food, service and ambience! Would highly recommend to others & will certainly be back when I next travel to Sydney!
Hannah looked after us so well and the food was amazing! I recommend the breakfast burger.
We had a lovely lunch. This place has a great vibe. Would definitely recommend.
Overpriced, snobby and entitled servers, and poor quality food
Poor customer service at the front door! I was in line waiting for someone to service me, the front door man just went straight to the person behind me, totally ignored me! Also lady did service just tried to memorised the order without taking a note, she had to come back to ask again! Why not just take a note right in the beginning? Loud noise overall. Tiny aisle and people still tried to squeeze prams in!
Food was delish, as to be expected from The Grounds! Our waitress was also very good, overall would highly recommend for the food and ambiance.
Front of house staff were great. The food was seriously below average. Wouldn't return for that reason.
Beautiful venue & great coffee. Unfortunately bad service on the day we went.
We love visiting the grounds the city ever time we visit sydney!
My partner and I had such a lovely time for dinner while in the city. The atmosphere really made the experience for us. Our waitress was more then helpful and really friendly. The only downside was that the special desert was sold out by 7:30pm and the affogato we ordered with baileys came without baileys as they were out of stock. Though our desert experience wasn’t great we would go again.
The Grounds of the City is a wonderful venue and food and ambience are always features. Unfortunately our service was very poor yesterday with no drinks orders arriving repeatedly and repeated food orders being made. Our server was replaced and things improved.
Lovely place for a date. Will definitely come back.
Great food. Service not great. Had to wait for our booked seats then we’re seated and left for 10 mins. Then when finally got service was rushed to order as breakfast was finishing. A lot on menu wasn’t available. Had to wait for our coffees- came well after our food. Coffee and food was delicious.
Also they parked someone else’s stroller next to our table.
We had a server who was very enthusiastic. She was very lovely and accomodating and funny. I wish I got her name. Food was nice, had the crab omelette. Coffee, as always, was outstanding. It was the service that stood out for me.
Great location, great coffee, interesting menu and elegant dècor
Cocktails were amazing and food was delicious. Loved the whole vibe and dinner experience. Friendly staff
Very busy and so sat very close to other tables. Food was good and service good.
Loved this place!!! The food was great, the ambiance was on point, and the service was brilliant! Could not fault it.
Have had breakfast and lunch there, and did not disappoint both times.
