First time at the Grounds. Absolutely very beautiful. I would say magical. You don't even feel like been in Sydney. very well done you projected it.
Delish and filling food with amazing coffee. Definitely a must see destination.
A very good and special restaurant. Recommend to have more food option.
The staff are always super helpful and the coffee and cakes are delicious
Food and service was really good! Loved it here and would definitely return
Food & service were good but so so noisy. Not sure if I’d rush back to dine at the cafe.
Ambience galore. Food yummy. Staff lovely but kept far too busy with cafe full at lunchtime, making it difficult to give attentive service. Delightful to wander through the gorgeous garden courtyards following lunch, making The Grounds a stand out from the usual cafe experience!
Beautiful location, great atmosphere, amazing coffee and good food! Harry Trotter the resident pig was the highlight for my 1.5 year old. He has to be the happiest pig ever.
Food are good but so many people, service are just so so
A bit crowded and noisy but that’s to be expected.
Food was great and not bad value.
Great place to catch up with friends
Good quality food and very nice presentation. Every corner of the place is an Instagram picture.
Incredible place, incredible atmosphere, food service and timing was unbelieveably fast especially considering the number of people. Staff were everywhere and very helpful. Wish there was one in Adelaide
Thanks so much Sean, this is awesome to hear! We’ll pass this on to the team working at The Potting Shed Hope to see you again soon! Regards Gareth, Restaurant Manager
Biggest issue was not having any parking available or anyone organising it. Top parking was closed and I was forced to park 750m away almost missing me booking
The venue is eclectic!! The food and coffee was really excellent. Great effort on fitting all that is onsite into such a tight packed space.
However, the level of noise in the Grounds, along with my hearing impairment made it very much a site where i was keen to depart after a short while. Would it be possible to establish a few more quieter areas toward the far corners of the cafe?
PS: i loved how promptly i was seated, in fact about 8 to 10 minutes in advance of my booking time. Make booking a delight when it all works. :)
Thank you so much for this wonderful review Ian. We’re so glad you enjoyed yourself - we hope we can welcome you back again soon! Regards Gareth, Restaurant Manager
Highly recommend brunch or lunch at this wonderful venue
Base on the outdoor and interior design, I would still recommend The Grounds. BUT, the service is not as good as before or expectation. I made a reservation for my friends who came from overseas for a vacation. I paid for the 12% extra service fee, but I have to wait for the reserved table for more than 10 minutes. No mention that the table is finally set at an outdoor area without asking our preference. I saw a lot of walk-in customers entered into the cafe. Thus, I am really confused about why I have to make a reservation for an unreserved table.
I thought the food was lovely and very quickly served which was great. The staff could have been a little bit more friendly but other than that I thought it was great.
Food was wonderful and the setting is beautiful as always. I found it all a bit rushed though. It is so crowded and so many people waiting for a table that you are very aware of the bustling staff, tables being cleared and there is no real opportunity to enjoy the setting.
Too crowded , but service was good , food came quick and good standard . Toilet was a bit dirty and small for such a big place
Wow this place was great! My friend and I had a booking for brunch today (Good Friday) thank goodness we did it’s very busy!
The staff were super friendly, the food was delicious and it was reasonable pricing!
We just loved it! It’s a lovely noisy ambience!! Def will come back
Definitely worth booking as the place was packed! Can get quite congested as the take away section is near where you wait for a table and it was confusing whether or not people were lined up for a table or just to place an order. We were sat at a table with stools, which wasn't exactly comfortable! Staff were quick to take our order but when the food came we had no cutlery and everyone was too busy rushing around. In the end I had to get up and get it for our table. It's a great place with lots to look at, just be prepared for the crowds!
Menu not as good as previous menu choices. But always enjoy the ambiance.
Parking is as bad as ever
Very instagrammable, super cute, really good and fresh food
Coffee came out wrong and burgers missing the bacon ordered. Both were fixed but shouldn’t have need to be. Table very small for 4 adults as compared to previous experiences where substantially there was more room.
The Grounds is a victim of its own success. I first went there about 8 years ago, when the gardens were just beginning to grow. Now it is nearly impossible to park within a reasonable distance of it. There are queues to get in and be shown to the table we had booked. It is noisy, though happy noise I grant you. Food is still good though and if there is a time in a week, and not school holidays, when not so crowded it might be worth going again
Loved the grounds and the Easter decorations. The donuts were delicious, although the staff member was not very happy. The food in the cafe was very tasty but was cold. The staff in the cafe were very good especially the young lady who served us.
Used to be a favourite and still a beautiful place to visit but now overcrowded and noisy. I would not recommend going there to eat. The owners have got greedy and only allow one hour booking window which is not enough time. The noise levels inside cafe (not counting the fire alarm that went off and could not be turned off) were more suitable to a night club. They need to limit the number of people on the site to make this enjoyable again.
Nice place good food but difficult to enter in by car hidden entrance and small also
Everything was amazing !
Just a lot of crying babies every time
Great place to put on the list to visit while in Sydney. The Grounds was our first stop after landing. We loved everything about it.
Food was average and over priced would not recommend.
Love this little treasure in the middle of Alexandria. So busy even on a Monday but great food, environment and friendly staff means it was a pleasure.
Possible. Depend on who it is. The surrounding area is lovely.
The cafe I won't recommend. It s noisy, difficult to have a talk. The background music would makes it worse. Food is nice. Missed a glass of wine with it.
I love The Grounds of Alexandria. This time we tried the Cafe for the first time. The Zucchini Tart was exceptional. The breakfast burger was not so memorable. Coffee was excellent, as usual. The Cafe environment was rather noisy and very busy for a midweek lunch. However, I must note, the service was exceptional. I would book here again.
The atmosphere and the ambiance of the place is definitely a 5-star! The gardens and the animals are a big hit for family and friends. We went there for breakfast. We were expecting to have a nice feast of heavy breakfast upon our order but when the food came, we were a bit disappointed on the food portions. We needed to order one more time just to satiate. The food is not as impressive as we thought too. With its price, we can definitely find another local cafe with better price and taste. However, we loved the lamb sausage and drinks we bought just outside. In case we come back, we might just buy food from the garden instead of the cafe itself.
I was actually disappointed
The Staff were friendly but it was very cramped and busy
We were rushed out
Food was ok
Sorry but I was very disappointed
Delicious food. Very fresh. Service was better than what I remember. We got seated straight away and served quickly. No complaints.
