The food was OK, good enough for the price if not spectacular. There were 3 desserts on the menu and two were run out, so choice of one dessert was dissapointing
Great service, great food. Lovely sunset view on a warm fall evening.
What the heck Open Table...maybe an off night, but this place was a mess. From the moment we sat down, drink orders were wrong, appetizer orders were wrong, and then food orders were wrong...seriously, write it freaking down dude!
Other fun mishaps, teaspoons for soup (ran out of spoons), extra anchovies when no anchovies requested, completely burned steak, botched Caesar salad (so lemony it was unedible), pasta was crunchy undercooked, and $40 glass of wine with floating bits in it.
On the plus, the crudo, and vegetable sides (sweet potato and squash) were excellent.
Service- guy gave the appearance of trying and yet everything was wrong...restaurant added 20% automatically (party of 4), which was ultimate insult.
Managers were amazing. Girl at front was very stern about the mask, just a heads up. 12/10 food. Will be coming back many times!!
Lunched at The Grill, outside, with a dear friend who was visiting from Vermont. She's a vegetarian, so I'm careful to choose places that have delicious veg options. The Grill did not disappoint! We split a roasted vegetable entrée and two sides: roasted yams/sweet potatoes and an eggplant and olive salad. They were all absolutely fantastic -- imaginative (the roasted veg had dried cherries and pickled cauliflower mixed in with them, a combo we never would have thought of, and plan to try ourselves), and so good we probably overate. Kudos! The Grill is now my favorite place at the Wharf, and I'm a resident, not a tourist. (Not that there's anything wrong with being a tourist! :) Oh, and the coffee was outstanding, too.
Always love coming here. Literally one of my favorite restaurants in the Wharf.
My fiance and I really enjoyed our time here. We made reservations and it was well worth it. The staff was awesome, food was delicious and the vibe was spectacular. The food came out in great timing as well. From the location, to the vibe, to the food, I highly recommend for anyone in the "Wharf" or DC area to check this spot out. You definitely will NOT regret it!!! We can't wait to come back
Everyone was accommodating.
Every dish was way too salty. It was a salt fest. Saltier than the sea. So much salt, in everything.
We ate outside overlooking the Potomac River & enjoyed the beautiful day & the great food.
It was wonderful! We had our two children with us and they also enjoyed it! The service was incredible!!
The service was excellent the food was superb and they made our first experience amazing!!
We had a party of 4. Starting with drinks, the whole dinner was excellent. I started with the cosmo blanc and it was delightful with a yummy cranberry foam on top. The other woman in our group got the Manhattan Noir and it was just as delicious. Both drinks were great remakes of 2 classic drinks. We began appetizers with the duck mousse pate deviled eggs and the cheesy crab dip. Both were absolutely wonderful. I would confidently recommend them to anyone. Dinner was two orders of surf and turf, one petite filet and one burger. We added the mac and cheese as a side (it was enough for all of us to taste which was plenty for us but perhaps not really a side meant for more than one or two people). Every dinner was better than the next.
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for fine dining in a comfort atmosphere. It is elegant but not stuffy with excellent service from the hostess to the bartenders to the wait staff.
I should have walked away when the hostess told me she couldn’t seat me until all members of my party was there (4 of the 5 was there). And this was my 3rd time there and previously they sat me without the full party. After reminder her, I was seated.
Not trying to make a big deal, I noticed my lip was cut and then noticed my glass was chipped and it was what cut my lip. I pulled the waiter aside, not letting my party know and let him know of what happened. He got the manager and He then proceeded to apologize to the whole table, yet I told him I didn’t want to make a big deal and the table did NOT know what happened. This of course made the whole table concerned. To make a long story short, management did not handle the situation appropriately. They overreacted and needs better training on what to do.
The Grill never fails!!!!
Spectacular dinner all around - food, service, ambiance, etc.! Notified our server of my food allergy and he was super thorough throughout each course; as anyone with a food allergy can relate, this extra attention & caution certainly goes a long way in put one's mind at ease! First time dining at The Grill, but certainly will not be the last!
The was outstanding. Our server was so helpful and everything he recommended was perfect. It was easily the best steak I’ve ever had
First off, you haven't been served by Marc. You're missing out! We got the lime pie dessert to-go based off of his recommendation. From service, to the blue cheese stuffed olives martini's, our meals and even the music selection playing in the restaurant outstanding!! The Grill just got themselves some new regulars, cant wait to go back.
We went there to get steaks but ended up getting 2 steaks and 2 burgers. The burgers are where it’s at. The steaks were a little over priced for the quality and I was disappointed in them we got the ribeyes. Our server forgot our appetizer and we didn’t get that til halfway through our meal.
The food was wonderful, The risotto and Chilean Sea Bass were so flavorful. The Grill is a great date night location, If the weather is nice get a table outside! Great atmosphere.
Food wasn’t good. One of the dishes had to be sent Back and the others were just ok. Wouldn’t go back
Hostess sat us promptly… crab dip was delicious… our steaks were perfectly cooked… our server was outstanding!
Highly recommend for a date night!
The overall experience was nice. The food could have had more flavor/bigger pori
I had a awesome dining experience.
Staff customer service was magnificent!
Food was delicious, especially the Cajun Branzino..
Can not wait to visit to visit again!
Tay was an awesome waiter! The food and drinks were amazing. I will definitely visit again!
Great meal all around.
Service a bit slow, perhaps due to staffing challenges?
Food excellent, ambiance very elegant
Great atmosphere, food, and service! Everyone was kind and I left satisfied and happy.
Incredible food with an amazing selection of drinks! Great service!
We visited The Grill in celebration of my husband Matthew's birthday. We had a wonderful time. The wait staff provided us with a highchair for our toddler, honored my request to sit outdoors, and sent Matthew a birthday ice cream scoop at the end of dinner. We appreciated Brian the manager stopping by our table to welcome us and ask if everything met our liking. It did! We had a wonderful time and look forward to visiting again soon.
Great place to people watch along The Wharf! My party was fortunate enough to sit outside on a beautiful Fall evening. Decent selection of signature drinks, the best part of our meal. Food was just ok, just slightly overpriced for the quality. That said, the restaurant would return, especially for a evening out with friends to celebrate.
We had a reservation for the outside patio for happy hour & they instead put us inside where you can’t order off the happy hour menu & the prices are like double. Which would be fine except for the fact our reservation was to be outside & the staff was pretty rude about it. Food was fantastic. Martini was disgusting sadly - they use onions not olives.
Server was great - front desk people were rude.
Food was great - as usual. Unfortunately, our server only paid attention to me: how is your wine, how was the calamari, etc. my guest - OUR GUEST was completely ignored. Not once did our server ask her anything. NOTHING. BLATANTLY. To make it worse, the server placed the check in front of my guest. AND, after I signed the check the server was reaching across me to retrieve the signed check and I said it wasn’t ready, so she walked behind me and rolled her eyes. I SAW HER IN THE MIRROR!!!
I did tip her 12% - because the food was great and I love this restaurant. I’ve been there 6 times in 6 weeks. I will be back. I usually tip in cash on top of the included gratuity because the service has always been great. Thankfully, this check didn’t include a gratuity. I would have challenged it with a manager.
When I come back I will request a different server if I get her again.
The ambience was really nice, great for date night, group dinner, etc. Our waiter, Demetrius, was super attentive, very knowledgeable of the menu, and was pleasant overall. We had a great time (party of 5)!
The ambiance and food quality does not reconcile with the cost. I spent $280 without wine on birthday dinner for my girlfriend and sat next to group in t-shirts and shorts loudly enjoying a football game on a TV across the room at the bar. Steaks were okay, but nothing special. Service was good. Unfortunately, I won't be back. For the amount spent, there are many better options.
Outdoor dining is great! Catch a beautiful day and the view is beautiful!
