The Green Hen
Lunch & Dinner is served everyday, with Early Bird & Table D'Hote options. We offer an extensive wine menu to complement any dish, our staff would be delighted to recommend a bottle. Our award-winning cocktails are also a must try! Come and join us and enjoy the unique ambiance and great customer service that everyone is talking about at The Green Hen.
2nd time visiting the green hen. Was seated downstairs this time, and appeared to arrive at rush hour. The restaurant was packed, but the manager found us our table very quickly, and service was very prompt. Would highly recommend the green hen. Will definitely be back next time we are in town.
Amazing venue, staff were absolutely fantastic and our party all thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Food is outstanding!
The food was passable, the service (albeit friendly when they bothered to serve you) was extremely inefficient. The evening I was there seemed to be staffed by very inexperienced teenagers working a weekend job waiting tables, not what I would expect from a city centre restaurant.
25 minutes to get the wine! Appetizer arrived after 35 minutes...no plates!the steak was half fat! Disappointing to say the least! Have not been there for 4 years and now know why!
Amazing food well presented paired with great wine and service in a lovely atmosphere
Thanks for the lunch, we enjoy it. We will come back.
Possibly one of my favourite restaurants in Dublin! Staff are very friendly and helpful when you can’t decide on what you want! Great ambience. Our meal was delicious, I would recommend the duck breast.
Will definitely be back.
Lovely relaxed atmosphere and amazing food. The staff are professional, friendly and knowledgable - will definitely be returning again soon.
Food and choice of selection was perfect the surrounding and mood so chic with a cool homely friends get together atmosphere. Staff couldn’t do enough for you and were great with directions!! Great meal we will be back
Excellent food, lovely ambiance and very nice staff. The only complaints would be were sitting for a few minutes before we were offered menus and we had to request a wine menu. We were given the bill after 2 hours, this is fine if advised beforehand but we were not so it was quite rude to be given a bill we hadn't asked for and be told the table was needed in 5 minutes
Fabulous meal in the room upstairs! Ambiance was lovely and great value for the quality and quantity. Míle buíochas!
We travelled 113 miles last sunday to have a birthday dinner for my 82 year old aunt at the Green hen.
It was well worth our while as the " vegan steak " was fabulous ... something I have not tried elsewhere and the birthday girl loved her meal
so like our previous visits we will return
Its a lively place! Great Buzzing atmosphere. Good service too
We had a nice meal and the waiting staff were very friendly and helpful.
Excellent service. The soup and entries were delicious. One of my favorite restaurants in Dublin Unfortunately for me I won’t be going back to Dublin till next March.
Outstanding will definitely be back, excellent food, great wine menu and the staff were extremely helpful
Finally a chef, the wonderful Denis, who realises that Vegetarians like to eat too! Not an extensive Vegetarian Menu but what Denis did was just Yummy. Good soup is a treat but the Pumpkin soup was not just good, it was great. Loved the toasted pumpkin seeds. Gorgeous crunchy finish. As for my mains of Roasted Celeriac with a Mushroom sauce & broccoli, what beautiful flavours. I was the happiest diner in town ! Of course the atmosphere in The Green Hen was further enhanced by the wonderful Emmett who ran this restaurant smoothly & who just brought a wonderful vibe & buzz to the restaurant. Super chatty who seems to have the respect of his colleagues. All the staff were super friendly. A wonderful dining experience & I can’t wait to return.
Staff were so efficient when I arrived very friendly , I had American friends visiting and the waiter went out of his way to give recommendations where to go in Dublin,
I’ve been to this restaurant before and will definitely be going back again,
Lovely ambience and great buzz but poor service. Lots of confusion over two glasses of wine and waiter very abrupt and rude
Food was delicious and the staff was very attentive. My water was never not full, food came quickly and when I asked for the bill it came right out. Location is ideal if you want to do some shopping. Overall would highly recommend
We had a pleasant evening together at the Green Hen, but there were two main issues
1) The staff seemed under too much pressure, so that we didnt get the type of personal attention that we expected - they were quite distracted, there were long gaps between anyone paying any attention to us, and long gaps between courses.
2) The food was scanty on the plate, despite relatively high prices. A few dollops of potato and a few veggies to make the plate look more substantial would have gone a long way.
Five of us had lunch. Three enjoyed fish & chips but the person who had duck found it bland. I enjoyed a glass of Temperanillo (€8) . Others found the white Rioja a bit acidic.
We had a lovely meal. The food was tasty and delicious. Unfortunately they were short staffed and our server was kept busy but he still managed to provide us we excellent service. It was very loud because we were seated beside two large tables.
Complained that we arrived on time. Then sat us right by the front door and coat stand. We got up and left.
Middle of the road affair. Pricey given delivery. Would expect more from the food - quality, flavour and quantity of main course. Staff ok.
I would recommend this place. Drinks and food is very good and fair prices.
Very nice food, atmosphere but no gluten free deserts available, frustrating for someone who likes desert but can't tolerant gluten. It just makes me so unwell not worth chancing. As a nurse, amazed at the amount of restaurants that don't accomodate or dismiss intolerences as we see more & more people suffer from IBS.
Will most certainly be back. Could not fault anything. Just the best!
We were seat more in the bar area than the restaurant
This was disappointing as I booked to eat in a restaurant not a bar
We had a delicious dinner and the Manager and Bartender are gems. Highly recommend for both the food and service.
This restaurant was recommended to us by our tour guide. The food was excellent although the service was a bit slow (I think in part to the few numbers of servers, etc. on schedule that night). OST definitely would recommend this restaurant to people visiting.
What a find! Traveling in Ireland and looked for a good French restaurant. It was like being in the St Germaine area in Paris. Good food and service. So cute inside!
I eat at the Green Hen often. The staff are great. Always feel welcome. There’s a lovely atmosphere in the place. Also do amazing cocktails!
Having had some lovely lunches in the Green Hen I decided to book my husband's 65th birthday there. What a disappointment, the service was terrible the food came in relays. The food was cold and in two cases overcooked. Will not be going back!
The service was absolutely excellent. When our chosen wine was not available the waitress looked after a more expensive one for the same price. There was no problem catering for non alcoholic drinkers and the bar staff prepared a wonderful non alcoholic cocktail. There was generous portions and all the food for the five of us was excellent.
We were seated by the new manager who was very friendly. Staff in general were friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately it was difficult to get their attention and we had to walk to the bar to order drinks. Long delays between courses. The food was lovely but the waiting and trying to get the attention of staff really brings the place down.
Best value for money in Dublin. Great food and service.
Fantastically special as always. Can't wait to return.
Really enjoyed dining at the Green Hen - strip loin steak was excellent & cooked exactly as ordered. Lovely staff delivered very good customer service. Will certainly be back
Really nice setting and a warm welcome from the team at the green hen to our party of six. Food was good but the service was lacking a little, one of our parties starters were forgotten and then when it came to the main course there was a lag of about 10 minutes for two of the main courses for which the team apologised and said that it would be discounted on the bill, but they didn't do that either. Having said all that I would go back.
