The George Vaults
At the George Vaults we have continued in this rich history and added a modern twist with a touch of class.
Based in the center of Rochester with three floors and five distinctive areas, there are few venues that offer such choice and high standards.
Main dinning area is the area where by day you may indulge in lunch, dinner or just enjoy a refreshing drink and by night, subtle lighting and candle lit tables create a relaxed and chilled ambience Sunday to Thursday, with Friday and Saturday a more upbeat and vibrant atmosphere with great music for all to enjoy.. Perfect for after-work drinks and dinner with friends and fun nights out, the restaurant is renowned for its eclectic British menu.
Very polite staff especially the manager, very helpful.good with our grand children which is often not the case.
Lovely sunday lunch sitting in the garden listening to the excellent singer
We went for our anniversary meal and everything about the experience was perfect! Food was out of this world, service was quick, professional and attentive. There was a live singer in the back garden which really set the mood too. Can’t wait to go back!
Been here many times for lunch , dinner or just a drink the food is amazing and the staff are fantastic .would highly recommend if in the Rochester area
George Vaults was recommended to me by an English friend, and it lived up to her comments. The best in the area. Excellent service and wonderful helpful staff.
When I return to England I will certainly make another booking.
As Far as the food was concerned, absolutely no problem at all and to be fair quite adventurous for a fixed sunday menu. Where the system fell down was that when we arrived, reception had no record of our booking through Open Table. Mistakes do happen , but when told that we weren't the first that this has happened to, one has to question the system.
The food was ok nothing to get excited about the staff were helpful but the had no pino there are better places to go
Good food. Made to feel very welcome. Good service and reasonably priced
Love going here with my kids for Sunday lunch. Relaxed, comfortable and really good food.
Yes may be but not early part off week as my sister took me for birthday lunch and both wernt good after the clams n mussel starter and pieella main we were both ill . All though we told it was fresh that day hard to believe as it was Monday. Just getting back to normal. Did spoil my birthday .
Excellent, shame we couldn't go into the vault but still very good. We will come again!
The pictures doesn’t match with the place . Very disappointed to be there , the place look like a normal pub but not like a nice place that shows in the pictures .
Really lovely meal x I will be definitely going back.
I have been a number of times for Sunday lunch & the standard is definitely a cut above the other options in Rochester.
It was really ‘mother/daughter time’ and it was very enjoyable. We enjoyed the food and the George Vault is a great venue!
It was a nice night, the food was good and the staff were lovely and very attentive
The food and drink was amazing but the staff where to busy talking to there friends was left the menu and forgot about
Thoroughly enjoyable evening, good choice from m the menu.
Very nice restaurant, perfectly placed on Rochester high street. Lovely food and service and great price with using a Groupon voucher, which gave almost 50% off food. Would definitely go again and recommend as a lovely restaurant.
A nice friendly atmosphere with attentive service. Food was excellent all of us had starters and a main course. Everyone's meals were well presented and a good size portion. The main was plentiful leaving no room for dessert on this occasion. We will definitely be returning soon.
Nice food friendly staff welcoming surroundings very good standards
I love the relaxed feel of this place –. Service was outstanding , wines and cocktails fantastic, food was excellent and well presented, will definitely be going back
Excellent service and fantastic Sunday lunch, delicious and great value.
Glad we booked.
Everything was fine.
We would return.
Found the food and service really nice and would use it again
We were given a Groupon voucher for a present and enjoyed our meal. It was a very quiet time of the day but could imagine it could be a bit noisier at busy times
Nice ambiance, garden dining. Sunday lunch at 3 pm not recommended because vegetables appeared as if they were leftovers from Sunday lunch at noon.
Service staff were friendly and accommodating.
Good outside eating area, friendly and attentive staff. Would arrange a lunch with the girls here again.
Excellent as always, good service... amazing food. Honestly excellent value for money, hopefully the quality of food never changes.
My main course was nice but my starter of Beef Ramen was INCREDIBLY salty. I ate the beef but couldn't touch the soup. I mentioned it to the waitress, she spoke to the kitchen and said that it's how it should taste, that it's the unami; a particular savoury taste.
I lived in Japan for a year, I've visited five times and I've never tasted anything so salty there, ramen or anything else.
I appreciate I was offered another starter but, along with my main, it would have been too much food.
I wanted to note this here, however, since it's important for the chefs to get the feedback that, in my opinion, that is not how beef ramen should taste.
This was our first visit, Really lovely staff who tended to our every need including my 3 year old making sure we had small cutlery for her and a plastic cup. Very relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Lovely atmosphere with great food. The temperature in the restaurant is at s really good level.
The pub was very quiet on the night we visited which meant we only used the ground floor bar. Overall the food was very good and reasonably priced.
On arrival I was told that they had no reservation for me & then explained that they don't always check for bookings through Open Table. They squeezed us in but we would have preferred a table outside. The ambience inside wasn't that great but the food made up for it.
We were married at The George Vaults in July 2015 and because the food was so good we have been back. Our 11 year son counts it as his favourite place to have a Sunday roast and it would always be his first choice. The staff recognise us each time and welcome us back. The food and service is faultless.
Great food with friendly service, went for daughter's birthday treat, had lovely time
The photograph shown is not the restaurant, it is for weddings and special events. The actual restaurant is a tired and dated bar with dining area on the side. Food was okay but not great. Service was friendly but there is no ambience. Overall, a disappointing night as we were expecting to have our anniversary meal in a nice historic vault.
Always wanted to visit the George Vaults, finally able to meet up with a friend there for Sun lunch today. Love the drinking area where one can see out to the High Street. Waitress there are pretty and friendly. We had traditional English dishes: roasted beef and lamb with Yorkshire pudding and roasted potatoes. We enjoyed it with both plates empty at the end. I was also given babyccino upon request. Will visit again for sure!
Unfortunately I was unable to reach the restaurant but their politeness in calling to double check the booking was outstanding. On the strength of service alone worth going again.
It's been a while since we've been to George Vaults. Happy to report that the quality of the food - all freshly cooked and hand made - is still as good as ever. Also happy to say that the price is still extremely good value. However, I would like to see a more frequently updated menu. This one hasn't been updated since February and lacks depth of choice. Not a problem if it's your 1st or 2nd visit, but not great if you go regularly. Luckily, the daily special of duck made up for it.
