Service from the staff was very good but food was not as good as we were expecting.
Crispy barramundi salad was to die for as were the other dishes we had. Great to enjoy with a beer. Booth seating available which serves for a quieter dining experience in what is a very vibrant and noisy venue. Service is friendly and efficient. Highly recommend this place.
Food was underwhelming- we were really looking forward to it and were disappointed
A very enjoyable lunch, food delicious. And so nice that we were given an additional entree, no charge, as the chef had made an additional dish accidentally so was given to us.
I like the atmosphere- the place is very stylist - but i gotta say- food was really tasteless and bland . Pork belly and egg with rice was tasteless- it doesnt taste anything vietnamese food. Quite disappoint - dumpling not even that great.
The restaurant had great ambience and the food was delicious. The staff were lovely, just a little slow to get around to replenish drinks. Food service was quick. We loved the set up and the fact that it was in the old George’s complex in Collins street.
Good menu and fantastic wine list. This place is huge and would be a great meeting place after work with friends for cocktails. Vietnamese cuisine at its best.
We dined here on Saturday night and could not have walked away happier.
The food was amazing!
What a fantastic venue with the most friendly and accommodating staff.
Hands down my new favourite.
We didn’t get the promised booth sitting for the Valentines day hence only 4 stars
Fabulous place! Amazing food and extra friendly staff. From the waitresses, bar staff and security! We will definitely be coming back.
Exceptional service, worth the wait for a cocktail and buzzing atmosphere
One of the better spots in the city to go with a group - lovely room, and ambience and noise levels are great. The feed me menu was good and generous with most dishes really enjoyable - the chicken wings are absolutely delicious. One or two dishes were a bit disappointing - the risotto in particular. It would have been nice to know how many courses to expect at the beginning of the meal - the last course was a bit of a surprise and we could have paced ourselves better. Happy hour wines were great. Service was very attentive during our meals, although we had trouble flagging someone down at the end of the night to get the bill. Overall, a good night and would recommend.
Delicious Vietnamese food in a modern setting. We had prawn & veggie pancakes, prawn dumplings, chicken randang & baby barramundi. All dishes were superb. Very attentive staff. Across the road from The Regent Theatre.
Most of the food was bland and cold. It seemed like the food was old or reheated in the microwave. We needed to keep calling out to the waitresses when we needed anything. It was way too noisy with bad disco music. I hoped for more but I hope it improves.
Comparing to the previous time when the food was absolutely marvelous and more than enough, I was disappointed with the food this time around. We were six people all taking the set menu, but the food portions were too small.
Our friends who came with us were very impressed. They thought the food was terrific, and service was good.
This is the second time I dine at George on collins and the service is quite disappointing comparing to the 1st time. Service is slow and the waitress has no idea about the Vam Bam menu and did not introduced the dishes or how it works. It was quite unprofessional.
Great service n food
This was a fantastic venue which I would highly recommend if you were wanting to get a group together after work in town. Great food and service. I am planning to organise another get together there next year.
My friends had a blast while enjoying Wam Bam Vietnam last Thursday. The food was divine - I especially loved the Asian twist with the risotto! And the drinks kept on flowing!
I could not recommend this place highly enough. Great ambiance, fantastic food, overflowing drinks and a posh crowd - I could not ask for anything more. Love it!
The venue and the service was impecable. The young lady who hosted us was very welcoming and polite. The food on the other hand was average at best. When compared to the others in the asian fusion space, flavour was underwhelming.
Staff were very attentive. Shared banquet was ordered, which started off great, whilst all food was delicious I question the need and value of serving several serves of chicken wings followed by two bowls of rice and a risotto, next time would order a la carte.
Cocktails were great, but once table service ended the wait at the bar was an average of 20 minutes minimum to order a drink.
Dinner attempted with 6 girlfriends but restaurant full of rowdy office parties and general patrons. Was incredibly loud and busy and we couldn’t hear ourselves speak. Made another booking at another restaurant close by and left after 45 mins. Wouldn’t risk this place again.
Barely any salt in the food ( beans and the slow cooked lamb).
Very mediocre food.
Do not take diners after 08:30 pm , since the bar/music ambiance does not cater to a dining experience.
Website needs to mention that dining and dancing is in the same area.
The food was very tasty but we felt like we were rushed to eat. The food all came out within 5mins of ordering which was great but then the waiters kept coming up every 5 mins to see if we wanted more and we felt like we had to leave earlier then expected because we had finished our food.. the table we were seated on made it difficult to talk to each other too.
Below average food, made less forgiveable by being pretty average ambience and service. Had one night in Melbourne and totally blew it with this choice. Sorry.
The food at The George on Collins was great. The service was OK; I would describe the service as more "bar service" than what you would get from a restaurant.

Banquet was excellent both in value and food quality. Came with a group and everybody left very satisfied. Definitely will be back again

Great relaxing atmosphere, with great food and service. Highly recommended.
Thanks so much Steve, we look forward to welcoming you back again!
We had a pleasant evening at The George on Collins. We went with the “feed me” option, which represented great value for money. Whilst most of the dishes were nice, there were not many “wow” factors amongst them.
We we very impressed by the attentiveness and quality of service we received from our server/sommelier for the evening - a young lady from The Netherlands, who had been in Australia for just on a month. The friendly service she provided was probably the highlight of our evening.
Hi Paul, Thank you so much for your review we really appreciate it. We've actually just changed our menu, reducing our items and focusing on our hero and wow-factor items so I certainly hope we can welcome you back again in the near future!
We liked the food and have booked for another lunch with a few more people. We had the lunch tray. The only negative was that the curry was bland and quite watery. Some of the fresh herbs were very wilted.
Hi Maida, Thank you so much for your review, we are so glad you enjoyed our new lunch tray! We also appreciate the feedback, we have passed this on to the chef. Looking forward to seeing you again soon!
The service was good, the venue is nice, good cocktail (margarita.) The food was terrible. I wouldn't eat there again the meat tasted old and the fish dish smelt off and tasted bland. I unfortunately ate one tiny piece and it tasted worse than it smelt. The music was way to loud especially when trying to eat dinner. It got louder and louder by 8:30 we couldn't hear each other talking and our ears were hurting. We left as soon as we finished eating. I wish we left before we ate as I wasn't feeling sick for the rest of the night.
I booked this because I watch the chefs cooking show. The food there looked amazing. I was disappointed with what we actually received. It was very average. I also thought that the GEORGE would be a nice quiet dining experience. However, the bar was the vocal point of the venue and the tables were around the side of this massive bar. The music was SO LOUD we couldn’t hold a conversation. It was more like a night club with bartenders drinking and dancing with waitresses. The waitresses had NO IDEA about the menu. Very disappointing and expensive. I won’t be returning.
Hi Tami, Thank you so much for your review, we are very appreciative of your feedback, it is so valuable to us and it's how we can further improve on food and service. Sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy the experience and we hope that we can welcome you back in future. Please do let us know, we'd be more than happy to look after you.
Food was horrendous.. chicken curry was watery and flavourless. Drinks very expensive. Service was good, nice decor.
Informed the wait staff about the food but no offer was made to refund :(
Won’t go back for food here.
It is a place with a wonderful atmosphera, drinking are realy good.
Thank you Claudia, Looking forward to seeing you again soon!
We were all so impressed with the food. We had the banquet which I thought was excellent value for the amount of food that came out. Heaps of delicious and varied flavours. We all had a cocktail too - 'A Night In Paris' is a must!! YUM
Hi Jodie, Thank you so much for your review, we are so glad you had a good time and were able to enjoy our signature cocktail 'One night in Paris'. We are looking forward to seeing you again soon!
Dinner at The George was fantastic. The food was utterly divine, the atmosphere smooth and relaxing, and the staff were just superb. They were polite, knowledgeable and inobtrusive. Cannot rate this experience highly enough and would thoroughly recommend a visit to this awesome place for dinner, drinks or lunch. We will certainly be back, the sooner the better!
Thank you so much for your feedback. It is great to hear that you enjoyed the food, drinks and atmosphere and we look forward to seeing you again soon!
Great tasty dishes with exceptional service. Would have liked the dj to be a little louder and more involved, but overall very good.
We're so glad to hear you enjoyed your dinner and service, it's something we take great pride in! We value your feedback in regard to the DJ and will take it into consideration in the future.
The menu read promising but the delivery was disappointing. The curries lacked authenticity, the gravy lacked body and even with the addition of the chillies the taste was mild. There was limited protein and was mostly white potato.
We're sorry to hear that you were disappointed with our offerings and would love for the opportunity to discuss your experience further as your feedback is valued in order for us to improve on our food and service. Feel free to give us a call on 9663 7226. Looking forward to hearing from you! Katie Parker Events Manager
We often go here. Recently celebrated my birthday with friends and had a great night out. The DJ was fantastic. We had a ball. Highly recommend and would definitely go again
So glad you had a great night with us Toula and we look forward to seeing you again soon!
