We come here quite regularly. Always amazing food and staff.
Great night, Steak cooked perfect. Could serve more chips. Great drink selection. Kids catered for.
Love this place.
A relaxing spot to eat & have a drink. Friendly staff. Great views too
Great food and service. As there were not many people in the place, we were able to be moved to an outside table, which was really pleasant in the nice weather. The background music was quite loud though and we had to ask for it to be turned down so we could have a conversation. Overall, a lovely lunch and
Thanks for the birthday brownie...was very tasty, but had no candles 😂
Gave us our reserved seat (that someone had sat at)
Quick, friendly, engaging.
Tables for meals should be kept for meals only. We had a large group of people standing around getting drunk and being roudy around us, which really put us off. I wouldn’t recommended going here for anything other than a few drinks and a bar snack.
We were really disappointed with our experience at The General Assembly. The music was really loud, which made it difficult for conversation - group of 8, two families, we wanted to chat.
One families meals came out well after the first family had finished there's. They did provide some free drinks, but it really ruins the experience when there is 20 minutes between orders that were made seconds apart.
The food was overpriced for the size and quality.
My open table booking was not found on their system even though it was in my email but thankfully there was no problem getting a table. Staff were friendly & helpful, food was tasty, overall a pleasant place for lunch with friends.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere at the venue as well as the live music. The menu has something on there for everyone. Staff are very attentive and pleasant. I would definitely go back.
We were a group of 6 there for the AFL grand final. Had a fabulous day our table was right in front of the big screen. The guys loved the footy food , the live musician was great. All in all fun day had by all.
I ignored the advice of 2 friends that had been here before who said the food is ordinary. Unfortunately they were right.
The brisket burger was very dry. But the service was great.
Need waaaaaay more vegan options if you ever wanted our business again.
Get venue, get food. Mid week atmosphere was good. Good friendly service.
Great list of beers on tap combined with a good range of food makes The General Assembly a good go to place for a group looking for a no-nonsense catch up.
I was there for New Year’s Eve had a great time I was down for the hair expo and I wanted my friend to try this venue out. The food was great music makes the atmosphere great and the service was wonderful. The guy with the beard gave me a wonderful service and the young guy who cleaned the tables was very polite. The only negative is when I walked I told the lady that I had a reservation she said take a seat anywhere as we don’t take them. I was abit confused about that
FANTASTIC FOOD, GREAT VENUE AND EXCELLENT SERVICE.
DID NOT EXPECT LIVE MUSIC SO THAT WAS AN ADDED BONUS TO OUR NIGHT
Food and drinks were great. Music very good and the atmosphere was excellent
When we arrived for our booking we were place under an air conditioning vent, on a bar table even though we had requested a normal seated table. The waitress then informed us that due to a problem with the gas in the kitchen the menu was limited to the bar menu (basically dips and bread, cheeses etc). Not great when we had booked a week in advance for dinner and they did have our contact details, so should have informed us of this. Then after we had ordered and eaten some dips and cheese (had to get our own cutlery) we were informed another menu was available. This was again pretty uninspiring being only burgers. Needless to say we paid and left to find another place where we could actually enjoy a good meal and dinner with friends.
Won’t return and will not recommend.
We had a great night, dining with friends. The food and service was great, and the live music was excellent.
The reservation process worked well - no stress. The meals were very tasty but the prices were on the high side for pub/bar fare. It was easy talking with friends until the live music started at about 6:30pm, don't think it's needed as most people seemed to be there for after-work drinks and chatting. Overall not a bad place for a meal and drinks, would go again.
Solid pub food, cold beer, clean glasses, friendly service
We had a great time at a restaurant convenient to the convention centre
Food was beautiful. Service great. Staff friendly. I have been approx 5 times and have never been disappointed.
I ordered the salmon dish, it was cooked very well - just a very small portion (which seems to be normal these days) but it was accompanied by an odd "fried Kale"? and other ingredients including capers which overpowered the salmon completely, maybe time to change the makeup of this dish?
I arranged for a group from work to meet here for a social catch up. The food and service were great and the atmosphere was well suited to what we were looking for. Would go again.
Service was great. Food was average. Kitchen completely inflexible. Couldn't make sweet potato mash without pepper. (Diner has an allergy) Would t allow fries as a substitute. Same for swapping potato chips for fries. A firm no. According to our server "all dishes must leave the kitchen as per the menu and the instructions from head office". We were a table of 12. None of us will return to this venue.
Dishes were interesting and delicious. Portion sizes for entry are small. Great ambience, relaxed and comfortable. Love that there is the option to dine inside or outdoor.
The food was good, the selection of beers was great. The atmosphere was great and we were able to hear each other talk.
We found the heater was blowing really strong in the corner, which made it uncomfortable for a couple of guys at the table.
This place never fails to impress. Friendly staff and delicious food.
Very impressive beers on tap and the overhead Keg is a really interesting decor item and even better that it is functional.
Thanks for a lovely lunch.
Very disappointed. Food arrived before we even got our first drink, 20 minutes after we arrived. Salmon overcooked.
the food and service was great, the only problem we had was some maintenance work was being done while we there, loud drilling noise on and off sometimes made it hard to hear each other. but overall it was a good experience.
The food was great. Everyone really enjoyed their choice. We booked for 6 but ended up bringing 9 people. Staff had no issues with bringing an extra tabled and rearranging. Was good to be able to have conversation without trouble hearing as the tables are not crowded together and there was no overpowering music. The location is really good on the South Bank.
We really enjoyed a post graduation celebration at The General Assembly. The waitress was very helpful, carefully managing a few dietary requirements in our group. The food was great. Melbourne turned on a winter night a few days early and unfortunately the cold breeze came under blinds a few times. The over head heating was great, but sometimes our ankles were cold
It was an overall pleasant experience the food was fantastic.
It was great atmosphere
I'd like to recommend to my friends!
I like it!
Great food, good laid back service and amazing wine/beer range.
