   We went today for a birthday and the atomisphefe is so cute and special. the indoor decor is so cute while the outside seating is also something that is special! The bad: there must have been an event going on because they had literally two wait staff during dinner rush and I felt bad for them. It took over 40 mins for someone to take our order and then we had to ask for our check and brought it to the bar after not having someone pick it up. We were splitting the bill and they charged one card twice which for us wasn’t s big deal but for others maybe. Think they need to work on their scheduling better. The good: our waiter once we were assigned to him Luis, was working practically alone and was fantastic. He had so many tables but was always so sweet when he got a chance to come to us. the food YUM made the wait and chaos worth it because everything was delicious. Wanted dessert and coffee but everything took too long and we were cold and wanted to head out. Next time! hoping to go back and give it another chance.

   Reservation was not honored and we had to sit at the bar for dinner. Waited 30 minutes to get a glass of wine. It took 2 hours for the meal and not because of us delaying to order. Dirty dishes remained at our table 20 minutes after finishing and waiting for the check. Seems like a great restraint but…

   This was our first time at The Gables. We had several appetizers and all were very good. The flatbread was ok. Dessert was good and the cocktails were very good. Service was good. The atomosphere was a bit noisy but it was Friday night.

   We haven’t been to the Gables for dinner in a long time. We enjoyed the food and atmosphere in the past. Our recent visit was disappointing. Too many past dishes for a farm house type restaurant. Our meals were underwhelming, my spouse and I thought the quality and presentation of the plated food was reminiscent of a banquet or wedding. Our drinks were void of alcohol. The restaurant itself is beautiful but the food and drinks were disappointing

    Too noisy, subpar food, and mediocre service. However, it was Valentine’s Day. They should not have accepted as many reservations for the evening given the number of staff they had working. Not sure what it would have been like in an ordinary evening. But we’re not likely to go back any time soon.

    We had the crusted Parmesan bowl with mozzarella drizzled in balsamic for appetizer- absolutely amazing. I had the salmon which was perfectly cooked, and my husband had the crab filled heart shaped ravioli. All was excellent

    Horrible service . Took over 30 min for someone to come to our table then took another 10 mins to take our drink orders which within its self took 15 minutes to receive. After the waitress took our food order after being sat for 45 minutes. We then waited another 50 minutes with empty water glasses and waiting for the appetizer. Finally I found another waitress and asked for the check to leave due to the horrible service provided. We have dined here before but recently the service has been declining and tonight was by far the worst. We noticed another table who had the same waitress had the same issue and she actually gave them a hard time when there food came out completely wrong.

    Menu confusing. Some recommended wine pairings not available but shown on the menu. Staff not prepared to answer basic question about the menu. Candles were on all of the tables tables but none were lit. Would have been nice for the ambiance since it was Valentine's Day. If you like mashed potatoes you are in luck because that is all they offer. Bread rolls offered were mediocre. Have been here in the past but not the same. We were prepared for a nice evening but Gables was not.

    My wife and I had a wonderful Valentine's day lunch! The food (as always) was well prepared and delicious. We definitely appreciated no markup for the holiday! One of our favorites in the area!

    We visited for Valentine’s Day. They put us upstairs at a very uncomfortable table. Our waitress was very rude and dismissive. Drinks took a long time to come and when they arrive they were incorrect. Food was average at best. Lobster tails were rubbery and chicken was way over cooked. Portions were small. At $300 for dinner I would go somewhere else. Way over priced. Disappointing

    We went to the Gables for my husband‘s birthday dinner with our family. The service was great and the food was amazing. The drinks were beautiful and delicious! I have come here multiple times and have never had a bad experience! I definitely will be back.

    Beautiful building and setting. Loved the mix of old and new. We went for lunch. Food and drink were very good. My husband liked the selection of local beer. Mushroom soup was delicious.

    The place has a nice ambience . Food was good, not extraordinary. But everything was well presented. Not too much wait time . The muffins on my Benedict was a bit too over cooked and the oil sort of tasted a bit stale. The French toast was amazing though. So was the mushroom soup- must try for all!! Service on the other hand was OUTSTANDING. We needed to use the wifi there for an important reason and as we were struggling to connect , our waiter Will even offered his personal hotspot for us to connect. Thankfully things worked out without it, but they all went above and beyond to accommodate us and I am very thankful for that!!

    You can always count on The Gables for fresh, local food that's been prepared nearly perfectly. Seasonal updates to the menu augment an absolutely terrific core set of appetizers, salads, and entrees. Classic Chester County roadside Inn ambiance and decor that's in the process of being refreshed. Something for just about anyone, done exceptionally well.

    We went for an early dinner. Both of our starters were very good (Caesar salad and the artichokes), the main courses were a bit less successful. They were ok (lobster ravioli and the brick chicken). They were ok, but considering how good the starters were, the mains felt like something a bit more bog standard. The service was really friendly. One thing to be aware of is that they send out your mains almost the minute you finish your starters, so if you're used to a more European pacing you may want to let them know (but I know many americans are keen on this quick approach). On the whole I'd definitely go back (we've been a number of times) for good, seasonal cooking. And just be aware that some dishes are going to be more wow than others.

    Had a wonderful dinner. Our server, Jessica, was very friendly and attentive. She recommended the roasted artichokes and fried green tomatoes for our appetizers and they were delicious! I had the diver scallops, which were good, but would have liked them in a citrus sauce other than the Thai chili- a little too sweet. My husband had a veal chop special which he said was perfect. Thank you for a wonderful date night!

    The food & service were excellent! The dining room was very noisy but we could still hear each other. Only half of the wait staff wore masks. I would have thought they'd lean toward a more conservative stance for their customers.

    Janet, the host, was great. She welcomed us, gave us a good orientation to the menu, which included a happy hour menu. Wine was $3 off per glass. The chicken dinner was great….tender, tasty, good gravy. My shrimp and calamari dish was good…could have been a tad more crispy, but still good. Location after visiting Longwood Gardens is perfect.

    The food was delicious. Everything from the appetizer to the dessert was great. We had the fried green tomatoes for an app, the short ribs and the fettuccine with local mushrooms for dinner and the espresso cake for dessert. The waitress was friendly. The only thing I was upset about was that they didn’t have any of the local white wines we wanted to try but that’s understandable. The substitute wine the waitress gave us was delicious.

    First time dining at Gabels after our day at Longwood Gardens. It was a good experience, but not a fine one. We were surprised, as the potential was there, but the polish was not. Menu was fine. Our meal was very good, but not really great. Prices were a bit high for the offering and quality. Our server was friendly, welcoming and very efficient. Yet in this time of pandemic and increasing numbers again, we were taken back that the hostess wandered around the dining room and received guests with her mask on as a neck ornament. She never had it over her face. She also seemed to have an “I am here, but really could care less” attitude. Our server and others were not masked. Many guests came in masked though. We probably won’t return there, but for the most part enjoyed the proximity to Longwood and a nice meal after a cold and active day.

    One of the best dining experiences my wife and I have enjoyed in many, many years. The food was absolutely delicious, the service superb, the ambiance perfect and the flexibility of the staff remarkable.     This was our first time eating there although we had passed it many times going between Baltimore and Philadelphia. We chose it because it was close to Longwood and the menu looked very interesting. All four of us chose a different entree and each thought their food was excellent. Two desserts were also fine. It was extremely cold outside that day and there was a draft near us letting in some of that cold air. That and the somewhat uncomfortable chairs were the only downers of the meal. We will certainly go back there.

    Me and my boyfriend went for our 1 year. And it was absolutely amazing. Our waiter was Phillip and when he asked us what our occasion was for the night and we told him our anniversary he brought us a complimentary scoop or sorbet with some candles to make a wish. The night was perfect. I order the cheese ravioli and it was absolutely delicious. 10/10 I definitely recommend and me and my boyfriend are already talking about going there again for our next year anniversary.

    Disappointed overall. I had heard they were under new management and had new chef, and got my hopes up for a Sunday brunch date. Unfortunately, nothing really hit the mark for my party of 4. Nothing was awful, but nothing was really good or standout. The food wasn't hot. We sat around for a long time after ordering.... Other tables got food long before us. And we were the first table there. Everything was kind of bland. It's a very nice atmosphere but that was ruined by the smell of dirty mop water when we first entered- if you've ever worked in a restaurant, you know that smell. The food was overpriced for what we got- probably would have enjoyed a local diner much more.
