Staff was wonderful, food and drinks were delicious!
Shrimp & grits were bland. No flavor from seasoning and the waiter was quick to tell us of the specials but failed to tell us they ran out of mussels and clams which were a focal point on the menu and many of the diners. I also advised them that it was a special occasion for my in-laws 50th Wedding Anniversary and nothing was offered.
I love the atmosphere at the Gables, and I eat here at least monthly. I am very frustrated by the following irritating occurrence. This is the sixth time in a row I have ordered the artichoke and crab dip from the menu, only to be told they are “out of it”. Either stock your menu items or take them off the menu.
Beautiful atmosphere, lovely but a little cramped in the dining room. Saturday night is packed. Overwhelmed staff, but the food was fabulous!
Service was friendly, prompt. Food was hot and quite good. A little too noisy.
The food was delicious, everything was perfect. We chose to sit outside and there was a wedding at the same time so it was loud but that was our choice. Inside was quiet and very romantic.
We had a leisurely, enjoyable time. The food and service were great. We had been there for banquets upstairs but this was our first time eating dinner. We will definitely be back!
This is a wonderful restaurant for special occasions. The service was great. My husband had the steak and my friend had the salmon. Both were well prepared. I had the flat bread, yummy.
Prosciutto and fig appetizer delicious! Diver scallops with lemon risotto and toasted leeks excellent.
Not a fine dining experience. Unprofessional service all around. We were seated in the bar area not the main dining room. Upon arrival we were shown to our seat by someone pointing where we should sit (we were not escorted). After waiting for 10 minutes, someone showed up at our table and brusquely asked if we had been helped yet. When we said no she angrily stormed off. A few minutes later she came back and angrily set some water glasses down and again asked if anyone had been over to serve us and we said no. A few minutes later a very nice server stopped by and added if we’d been helped. We gave him our wine order, but then the first person came by and seemed irritated that he was helping us. We have never had an experience like this in decades of eating out! Truly bizarre! The woman that helped us was very unprofessional and clearly was looking to get us out ASAP. The meal which was supposed to be fine dining felt extremely rushed. Other diners that arrived after us were kept waiting in near the front door for 10-15 minutes and unattended to despite tables being available. Ambience in the bar was somewhat lacking. Candles would have improved that and no tablecloths were on the bar area tables (main dining room had white tablecloths). Main dining room looked much nicer. The food was fine. Not gourmet at all but it was hot and acceptable. My wild mushroom fettuccine was lacking mushrooms. Meatball and mushroom soup appetizers were good. My husband liked his short rib. Sorry we will not be back. There are many other excellent options on the area.
It was very busy but the staff was very professional, the food was great, and the atmosphere was lovely.
Made a reservation, but there was no table for us when we got there. So the host put us at the bar. Took 20 minutes to get a drink. At the bar. Then ordered a second glass of wine when the food finally arrived, and never got it. Waiter finally brought the wine when I asked for the check... The food was pretty good, but not worth the bad service.
We’ve been here a number of times and each time we agree to give it another chance, none of those occasions have been fantastic. This time our server was in the clouds he frankly had no idea what he was doing. We ordered the scallops, $32 for three scallops, now I know prices are up and I’m more than happy to pay for quality food but 10 bucks a scallop come on, that’s ridiculous. In addition the risotto was tasteless and pasty. Looks like this place is off the list.
The noise in the dining room really made relaxing and enjoying company almost in possible. Please do something to fix that.... we ended up having dessert in the bar so we could talk to each other.
Very nice restaurant with tons of ambiance and good food.
We had a lovely lunch on the patio on Friday. Luis, our waiter, was very nice and very accommodating. The food was quite good, as usual. The fig and prosciutto flatbread was excellent. I would recommend this venue to others. It is always a treat to eat here.
Perfect setting to celebrate our anniversary. Michelle, our server was phenomenal! The Gables always delivers with consistent value and outstanding flavors. We look forward to our next visit.
Beautiful place! We went here for our first dinner as husband + wife. Quiet peaceful and romantic. Food was excellent and the people were warm.
Service and food were excellent.
The restaurant was clean and well appointed and nicely decorated. The service was very friendly. The food was a bit under seasoned and a little bland. Presentation was very nice and the wine selection was appropriate. The food prices were fair. The cheese and meat board was a bit run of the mill and the meats were not of the finest quality. Overall this restaurant is a nice place to have a night out especially with friends or someone you want to spend some time catching up with but not with a foodie as they may be a bit underwhelmed by the fare offered.
Our meals were excellent and our waiter was efficient and friendly. Definitely will go again.
We sat out in the beautiful patio and it was perfect! Though we waited a little for so,some to take our drink order, one server realized we had been waiting and jumped right on it. Food was excellent!
By far the most delicious New York Strip with Au Poivre sauce I’ve had in a very long time. The service was wonderful.
Three good meals, but filet mignon was chewy.
Plenty of staff for people outside, not so much inside. Mussles & clams linguine was sandy with pieces of shell & some unopened. Hamburger substantially smaller than the brioche bun. Tomato crostini was good quality & tasty. They did remove the mussels dish from the check.
The salads and calamari were so-so at best. The pasta that my wife and I chose were also so-so. The overall meal was not that good -- it was very disappointing.
It was a wonderful day to be seated outside. The server Luis was so attentive, the food was scrumptious.. as usual a wonderful experience
What a nice treat to be able to enjoy a lovely outside dining experience! The terrace decor and lighting made the evening a special outing. The service (thanks Elizabeth) was outstanding as was the food (great presentation). We had been away too long and we will be back again very soon.
The service was excellent and the food was very good.
Amazing food and a beautiful outdoor patio. There was a wedding going on the day I was there but that only added to the ambiance. Would highly recommend!
Most likely Covid-related, but we sat for a very long time before anyone acknowledged us. During our wait, we watched a table of 6 get up and leave citing they had waited 30 minutes for attention. The servers kept bringing us everyone else's orders thinking they were ours (5 times!), even though our menus were still in front of us. It was a beautiful day and the ambiance there is great, so we stayed to find out if the food was any good. It was average at best... I wasn't super impressed with my salad with grilled salmon. The fish had zero flavor and the salad was small. My husband's omelet was overcooked. It was disappointing. Beautiful restaurant, though. I hope today was just the result of the Covid staffing shortage.
We had a reservation but still had to wait over an hour to be seated. The bar area was packed, so we just stood there. The hostess at the front desk was obviously frazzled and had no clue who was waiting and for how long. It was extremely disorganized. Once seated, we waited another 30 minutes before we went to the hostess and asked if we had a server. Like I said, it took and additional 30 minutes after being seated before a server greeted us and took our order. Unacceptable.
The food was excellent as usual, but the staff shortage definitely ruined our normally excellent experience there.
We arrived a few minutes before our reservation and were told they were running behind and that we could get a drink at the bar. The bar wasn't incredibly busy but it still took nearly 20 minutes for us to get a drink. My husband ordered an absolute and tonic and watched the bartender pour a splash of absolute in the glass, ran out and filled the rest with stoli. We were still charged for top shelf. For fear of taking another 20 minutes to get the correct drink we didn't bother complaining. About a half hour or so after our reservation time we were finally taken to our table on the patio. After 15 minutes of waiting with no waiter, we watched a family of 3 get sat beside us and had their bread delivered and their drink order taken almost immediately. After their drinks were delivered 5 minutes later we decided to get up and leave. There were at least 4 different wait staff on the patio and not one checked in to see if we had been helped. One waiter stood talking to a couple he knew for at least ten minutes. We're very understanding of restaurants being short staffed and things taking longer than normal but after nearly an hour after our reservation time and not having a waiter even stop by our table is unacceptable.
Great food, beautiful inside and out and our server was fantastic!
Food was delicious. Highly recommend the chicken salad croissant!! Ambience is very charming inside & out.
Great menu, lovely atmosphere, attentive and professional service, and great food. Crab cake is delectable!
Nice variety for lunch. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Lovely outdoor seating.
The surroundings were lovely and the outside terrace very comfortable for dining.
Our waiter was exceptional. I would have given the food 5 stars but my shrimp and grits were a little grainy. My companion's chicken sandwich was excel
