On Saturdays and Sundays, journey through the evolution of coffee as you spoil yourself with a collection of traditional sweets and savories with The Fireplace's High Coffee experience.
Unfortunately we did not have a good experience at The Fireplace. We were a table of 4 ladies celebrating 2 very special birthdays so it was very disappointing. The menu was not even slightly similar to the sample menu we had been sent. We only had 3 savoury items but 8 desserts each which was impossible to eat. The 2 skinny sandwiches had no taste and no meat. The service was very poor, we had to remind the staff of the drinks we had ordered and then we had to wait a very long time to receive them. We were not offered tea or coffee which was part of the deal. We unfortunately will not be visiting The Fireplace again, anytime soon.
The high tea was disappointing. Too many cakes, no savouries and not enough sandwiches which was bland.
For the best Steak you will ever eat, come here. I am not easily impressed with steak as I own and operate a BBQ Store, so I find it difficult to get a good steak house that knows how to cook steak properly.
Compliments to the Chef, I only wish I could have booked it in earlier on our trip as we booked it on our last night, so couldn't go back the next day (I was still dreaming of the steak the next day).
You wont regret coming here (but your pocket might - as its a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for).
Ambiance is amazing, I particularly liked watching the chefs prepare the food in-front of the open woodfired oven. Great Experience.
Wonderful food in a fairly small restaurant overlooking pool and gardens at the Intercontinental Hotel. Excellent service. A very extensive wive list.
The service was not satisfying. If you have to top up your wine glasses for a $150 bottle something is wrong. In general, there was not much attention from the service team to our table and that was with a restaurant not more than 25% full.
The eye fillet being the most expensive cut, ordered medium, arrived after 45 minutes well overcooked and well done. There was no other choice than sending it back to the kitchen to get another one cooked. Unfortunately, the second then arrived rare and had to be sent back to the kitchen for a second time. Disappointing when a restaurant prides itself for it's stake cooking facilities and capabilities and cannot get a steak cooked to order. Buy a thermometer and get staff trained so they can leave up to expectations as this is not a cheap place!
I am not coming back. Enough good restaurants on the Gold Coast.

Disappointed. There was not good value for money, and our meals were not overly flavoursome.
Our only negative was our initial waiter. He was not enjoying his job. There was no welcome, no smile and certainly not much chat, but the very basics. Fortunately the female hosts were delightful and we enjoyed being there and savour the excellent cuisine.
We used a voucher for this High Tea - and would certainly do that again! It was a very enjoyable afternoon and the staff were very attentive and helpful. Well done.
Excellent food, magnificent wine list, classic setting and courteous and knowledgeable service - what more do you need?
Would definitely recommend to a friend if you were after fantastic food. The service however is not how it used to be. For fine dining and the price per person, I would expect more attentiveness. Nothing against the staff that were working, they were pleasant, there just seemed to be a lack of staff.
I was a little disappointed as we were the only diners for a while and finally after an hour another two tables were occupied. The restaurant had no ambience, as the decor was very sterile.
The service was good but the selection of sandwiches and cakes for the "High Coffee" was rather ordinary.

Food was well presented and tasty. Service was excellent. Wasn’t fan of the matching wines with the degustation but overall very impressed
The service was first class and the ambiance also terrific.
There were four of us and my wife said her main course of pasta (seafood) was the best she had experienced. Our two guests said their selections of pasta and pork belly were also excellent. I chose steak and have to say I was very disappointed in that I ordered medium- rare but it was more of a medium in my opinion and quite dry. A Hogs Breath medium-rare rates well above what I experienced.

I dont know why we didn't know of this restaurant? Living on the north end of gold coast for years and didnt realise but glad i found it and took my wife out for her birthday, we loved the restaurant but thought it lacked a little ambiance but the the food made up for that, we shall be back.
I sent both sets of Parents to High Coffee at Christmas, so I couldn't wait to go myself. The whole experience was lovely and elegant. The food was superb and we managed to bring some home with us. The staff that looked after us were very pleasant and accommodating. I urge everyone to try this experience. Delightful!!
Lovely setting with lots of natural light & warmth.
Most tables were full but it didn’t feel crowded.
Service was slow. They had an older male waiter who just seemed distant.
Females were very good but had to be prompted for water & our tea & coffee order was forgotten.
Overall lovely afternoon but service not great
Amazing value with or without a Cudo voucher. Will definitely come again. Being able to take the cakes we could not eat home even better.
We had a fantastic high coffee in a very tranquil setting. Service outstanding and dietary requirements were accommodated.

The food was excellent. The mushroom entre is to die for. The meat was cooked just right and very succulent. The sauce was tasty. The veges good. The service was good. We are locals and try to go every week.
Fantastic service, the food was amazing and overall there was so much attention to detail which is so hard to find. Also they were very particular with food allergies. Definitely recommend if you haven’t been. My partner is a steak lover and very particular but said it was the best steak he had ever had!!

A lovely classy experience with lovely friends and delicious food!
We expected fine dining and were disappointed. We ordered steak with two vegetable sides. The steak was correctly cooked but was about to be served onto a stone cold plate before we objected. The vegetables sounded interesting but were not. The carrots and parsnips were in large lumps and appeared to have been simply boiled. The potatoes with Brussel sprouts were disappointing too. We were not tempted to have dessert.

What a wonderful night! I have been to The Fireplace three times over the past fortnight and have enjoyed every dish! Our waiter John was fantastic this week and we thank him for his great suggestions. I would highly recommend!
My friend and I had a delightful evening at the Fireplace. The food and wine were genuinely delicious. While I’ve been to the restaurant on many occasions, I have not enjoyed the brand new menu! Can’t wait to go back
Wow we just loved this restaurant. The food was fabulous, the staff knowledgeable & friendly. It was my husbands 60th birthday and they had arranged a complimentary birthday dessert. They even got the staff to sing him happy birthday which was fun and unexpected. I fully recommend the Fireplace Restaurant.
The menu could probably do with being changed up as we have being a few tunes abs a bit repetitive. The staff are very nice however was just Saturday and they were not as attentive as normal. Had to ask for our champagne. We do like fireplace for high tea but feel we will try somewhere new next time

My friends and I enjoyed our time and were impressed with the food and atmosphere.
However when I went to pay the bill, I specifically stated that I wanted to use my savings account so did not tap the card on the screen when offered to do so by the gentlemen serving me. The gentleman took my card and tapped it on the screen anyway. So instead of a cash transaction which I wanted, the transaction has processed as a credit transaction. I did not want to use a credit transaction on my savings account as this messes up my balance and makes it harder to track actual funds available. Also the transaction has not fully processed as at today (2 days later) and caused a delay for my balance to be correctly appropriated.
I realise this may seem petty, but I felt that my payment choice was over-ridden because it is easier for the person taking the payment to just tap the card than to insert the card, for me to select my savings account.
It is possible that the gentleman serving me does not understand the difference between the two transactions. Perhaps this could be an opportunity to ensure staff are aware of the difference.
This was really the only thing that marred the experience for me, which is why I rated the customer service lower than the other aspects of the visit.
