Fantastic service. The food was great. The only issue with eating at The Espy Kitchen on a Saturday night is trying to get through the bar to and from the restaurant. There is no clear path to move through the bar patrons and the exit had become a packed dance floor which made it near impossible to exit the venue. People will not move and deliberately stop you from moving past them. Makes it difficult to recommend as a nice evening out. I've enjoyed lunch here in the past and didn't have this issue. I suggest the venue need to make the kitchen accessible for those who want to enjoy a Saturday night dinner without being pushed around and blocked by the bar patrons who are there to drink and party.
Great food and service. Warning roasted carrots contain anchovies! Pretty poor form not to mention that. Allergies! Only downside is having to walk children through the bar and very loud music. A lovely security lady gave us an escort through the bar.
Not all main meals served at same time...up to 20 minutes apart.
Wrong meal delivered.
Quality of seafood poor
Nice meal good atmosphere good service nice wine. Would recommend for dinner
Food is hit and miss. Stick with the pizzas. Service is friendly and fast, not super knowledgeable though. Great party atmosphere.
The seafood was fresh and delicious, and the service could not be faulted - we were well looked after from the moment we walked in the door. Whilst it was a bit noisy, it still felt intimate.
Do yourself a favour and order a margarita (or three), with a seafood platter and chicken bites.
Over $ 40 Seafood platter was a joke.... little finger nail sized mussels and oysters....I can get tastier bigger fresher oyster at South Melbourne Market for just $3-4.
We felt rushed out at the end of the evening and the service was very basic, perhaps it’s just that kind of restaurant.
The service and the food was excellent, our service staff went out of the way to make sure we were happy. Can't recommend the espy kitchen highly enough
We had a fantastic experience overall. Good food, great service, great atmosphere.
On arrival our table was not ready, but that was ok, we went to the bar, so we came back and it was still not quite ready. Then we were seated in front of the big fridges so it was a little cool, and noisy, but overall a good experience - wait staff were very attentive and adapted to our requests with ease. We were not made aware of the tasting menue which may have been a good idead. We did go into the front bar afterward, where we had some ordinary margarita's made in tumblers, and when we mentioned to the manager with nametag "G", he remade one drink, in the same type of tumbler, but not the other??? Anyway, we didnt drink them and ordered something else. Usually we find the bar staff also very accomodating, perhaps the younger ones could have a bit more training for the prices the cocktails are $20 each for the NON Margarita. Overall still a great afternoon for a table of Librans - thanks.
i'm not sure what is going on, but unless i fill in this space the site will not let me exit ................... ............kkkkkkkkkkkkk kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk kkk kkkk kkkk kkk kkkk kkkk k k kkk kkk kk k k kk kkkkkk llll lll lll lll llll ll lll lll ll lll llllllllllllllll ll lll llllllllllllllllllllllll kkkkkkkkk kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
We were very well looked after and we had the set menu which was great! Your staff were really lovely considerate and we felt they went above and beyond, guiding us through back sections (avoiding the main loud bar) to get to the top bar for drinks - this was great as it was a birthday party and made us very welcome! Thanks
Great space, nice renovations, average food (Parma was cool and cheese had started to congeal) and despite reminding two different staff members on two different occasions one meal still didn’t arrive.
Food - we shared squid, octopus, ceasar salad and tarama dip. The squid was well cooked and the salad was very tasty. However all food was over seasoned (particlarly oily) so meal wasn't well balanced. Service - it took 20 minutes to take our drink order and one of the drinks was not what we ordered. Food came out quickly once ordered. Ambience - we sat at the bar with view of the kitchen which was a good spot. However there was a hen's party on the table behind us which was very loud.
Service was friendly and professional. Food and drinks were delicious!
Group of six and we all loved it. Brilliant venue!
Great service. We had 3 birthdays and they provided a lovely glass of bubbles to celebrate with a smile. It was excellent.
Came in for my birthday and was so disappointed, we wanted yummy food and instead were given cold carrots and chicken.
Very friendly service. Awesome pizzas! Liked ambiance.
My husband and I asked the waitress about sharing the seafood platter and she said that would be enough for both of us. VERY disappointed as it was not enough for even one person. Everything else was great except leaning there hungry.
The food and service was amazing. It was a little loud so if you are going in a group you won't be able to hear everyone. Small groups are perfect.
I will be back. :-)
Buzzy but relaxed. Good food and wines and excellent service from Ella. Definitely would come back and highly recommended.
This place has a great feel and the staff are generally into their jobs. The steak is always terrific, pizzas very good and Parma to die for. Seafood platter was a like underwhelming for $42. Small oysters and mussels, tiny scallop and no fish.
Second time to the Espy kitchen and could not fault it. Food delicious and great service.
Very delicious food. The interior design and ambience of the this restaurant is exceptional, we will come back soon
They forgot our main meal after telling 2 staff members that we were waiting for it. After an hour it was finally picked up but to late for us we had to leave to see a gig
Food was great and atmosphere was amazing! It did take the waitress half an hour to get to our table to take our order but besides that it was a fantastic experience!
We went here for dinner early on a Sunday and had the Sunday roast which on this evening consisted of roast chicken it came in a buttery lemon sauce with the accompanied side vegetables of potato and cabbage.
The chicken was delicious and tender the accompanying sauce was lovely we would’ve preferred to get a little bit more and the potatoes were perfectly cooked.
The cabbage however was not nice at all.
We also had the desert doughnuts and they were absolutely delicious.
The wait staff were attentive without being overbearing and I would highly recommend this place.
Value for money, it’s a bit steep. However we would visit again.
Getting in and out of the Espy Kitchen was the worst part. There was no clear signage and as it was a Saturday night we had to navigate our way through a crowd of drunk and inconsiderate footy patrons. The restaurant itself was nice: tasty food, friendly service and a completely different ambiance than the bar.
I have been to the Espy Kitchen a few times since this year and have always had an enjoyable experience. However this visit exceeded them all. The service by the team on saturday night was fabulous, they were friendly, attentive and professional (whilst not taking themselves to seriously). The food was divine and there are many options for dietary requirements. The occasion was a belated wedding anniversary dinner to celebrate my parents and the night was made more memorable by the wonderful dinning experience at the espy. As locals, we are very happy with the restoration of The Espy.
Considering I booked weeks before we were next to kitchen
Sat down not once did we get asked for a drink but got out own water.
Food was pretty average full off salt.
Went pay bill girl took money walked off. I might be bit old fashioned if I pay for a meal a thank you would be nice. Truth is there were 5 mums on night out it was terrible.
Thank you for asking
Fabulous delicious food, efficient service by friendly staff. We had a great time
Family lunch at the Espy Kitchen was a bit disappointing. The service was average. The Food was below avaerge. My pizza came out before the entrees. My wife’s fish came out after we had all finished our meals. Just not professional enough for the price and the venue.
We had the best time. Made to feel very welcome by staff. The Sunday roast delicious. We had a 12.30 booking and as the restaurant filled up so naturally the noise level increased I asked the waiter if he could turn down the background music which he did and offered us a quiet area to have our coffee. How thoughtful and fantastic keep up the great work you have my big tick of approval
Although it’s of decent quality the food is overpriced, our wagyu steaks were very average quality and cooked inconsistently even though we ordered as recommended, fish and chip serve was tiny for an adult, burger was ok, the pizzas were nice and so were the cocktails. Friendly service staff. As a group we didn’t feel like we got good value for money having spent well over $100 each
I really enjoyed it! Food was good and then we were kindly escorted to The Ghost bar for cocktails after our meal.
Beautiful food, chefs table with view of the busy and very professionally run kitchen. Lovely staff. And the cocktails were sooo bloody good!! 10/10
Service was excellent food well prepared and very tasty - Creme Brûlée was amazing
We ate the Wagyu and roasted vegetables. the meat was poorly cooked and was almost inedible. the vegies weren't cooked properly. so hungry afterwards we got a pizza from Topolinos!
Great, fun venue. Food was exceptionally quick. Service was excellent.
