Great service, delicious cocktails and cosy on a chilly Canberra night.
The food was really tasty and very well presented. The service was excellent and they looked after us. A great place to go to have a chat with friends, a quiet drink and eat great food. Would highly recommend .
The nicest waitstaff in all of Canberra. Don't forget to look up at the ceiling!!!
Fantastic service, really pleasant and accommodating staff. We'll be back!
Pretty average, I went there a long time ago and it was amazing. I'm not sure what has changed but it's pretty disappointing. The 'jerk chicken' was roast chicken and gravy, the cocktail tasted as though it came from a pre-made concoction (soo sweet) the fish had no flavour and the beer tasted flat (although I was later advised it's the brand of beer)
We had a fun relaxed dinner with friends. Food was delicious and perfect for sharing. Definitely recommend the lamb and brussel sprouts (trust me!). The staff were also super friendly. Will definitely be back.
Great food and great service! Meals were perfect size and super tasty!
Funky little place with good food. Can’t review the coffee as we had no chance to order one. Freshly squeezed orange juice was squeezed the day before off site. Server was rushing us through ordering, inattentive and seemed inconvenienced by serving customers. Staff were rushed and it showed in the service. Wouldn’t go back.
Have never been disappointed with Elk & Pea! Wether it be for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Do yourself a favour and eat there soon!
Service was friendly, and efficient. We had a medium size group and a new born. We had a late person, who also needed to leave quite promptly after eating - everyone was well catered for. Thank you, team E and P!
Love Elk and Pea! We took my 75 year old parents and they loved it too!
If you're looking for a cosy dining experience with excellent food and unique cocktails this is the place for you
They've changed the menu recently, and lots of the good vegetarian options are gone. The vegetarian main available on Saturday night was really, really lame - I can't remember what it was supposed to be/called, but it was just a lame little vegetable stir fry. The salads were okay. We also found an elastic band in our broccolini - not the end of the word, but really not great. I've had wonderful experiences at the E&P previously with great food - but won't be back.
We had the best time at Elk and Pea. Our waiter was super friendly and helpful. We ordered a range of things with his guidance and shared. Everything was delicious. They make great coffee and had some fantastic local wines too. Looking forward to returning.
We've enjoyed the food at the Elk and Pea before. They've changed their menu somewhat, which was a little disappointing but we were very dissatisfied with the service. The wait staff were very friendly but the meals came out at different times and not as ordered (ie well done when ordered medium-rare), key dishes were not available (no corn in a restaurant emphasising mexican food??) and our side of potatoes came out after all mains were finished (sent back). They've always been a little disorganised but this was too much. Someone needs to manage the place or sort out the kitchen.
Was great to be one of the only cafes open in Braddon during holiday season and the menu appealed to our friends from Perth who were looking for a good cook up. The sourdough bit toast was a bit too hard, the eggs a little over cooked and we were sitting in the outside area with a big puddle under the table but overall it was great!
Very happy with everything. Food was delicious and very large servings. Staff were absolute lovely.
The wait staff were doing their best eith a kitchen who could not send out all dishes at a table together. There were only four of us.
Two same entrees looked vastly different when delivered. Bread was burned.
Ice cream was melted and wait staff apologised.
My desert arrived after everyone else had finished there's. Mains were all tasty but presentation was seriously lacking.
The kitchen really let's this place down
We have enjoyed coming to The Elk and Pea for special occasions over the last few years, especially since our son was diagnosed with Coeliac disease, as most of their dishes were gluten free. However, at our last visit, we were very disappointed to see that the menu had changed, becoming much more limited. In addition, the pork in the dish I ordered was tough and over cooked. It is unlikely we will return.
We order sides. Don't bother the meals are huge! Starters were a bit ordinary. Not sure real keen on the popcorn. Tasted like the bottom of the barrel with burnt bits! Mains were lovely (once you found them under all the salad). Presentation was a bit hit and miss. ... Oh, and never say "we ran out", it implies someone has ordered in stock. Say, "sold out", this sounds like its been popular. Overall, ok place, nice staff.
It was disappointing that at 1pm on Sunday, two of the items that our table would have liked to order weren't available; limited vegetarian options.
We booked a table at 12pm for their Sunday all day brekky. When we turned up, they had run out of 3 of the 5 dishes on their limited all day brekky menu. After waiting for 10 minutes to be served, we were informed of this and told they could just do some eggs on toast for us! WTF?! We thought it was a joke but the waitress said she understood if we wanted to go elsewhere. Well, of course. We left but obviously had to find a new place for brunch.
How does a place have all day brekky until 3pm run out of food at 12pm particularly when we booked a table and they expected us and others at that time?
took plates off table with food still on them with out asking first.menu online is different to in cafe and was told it was changed and it still is the same
Left after the first course. The popcorn starter was cold and many kernels were unpopped. The chicken wings were pretty average at a hefty $17 price tag. We were not charged for the food which was good though no apology was offered for the poor food quality. Wouldn't be back.
Food was dry and had no flavour. Waitstaff wasn’t around. Took the away the plates without even asking if we were done and didn’t even offer dessert. Won’t be back
Efficient, warm and attentive service – our server really did "take care of us" as he said he would when we walked in. Food was excellent! My friend and I both ordered the mushrooms and avo on sourdough. The burrata mozzarella on that was the best I've ever had. Generous portion. Will return!
Food was good but a little over priced, service was quite slow but still good, staff were friendly and helpful, did not get seating arrangement I requested and the table next to us had too many people on it meaning there was very little room for us.
Otherwise would go again and good place for breakfast or brunch.
I loved the food. Usually with places like this the food is small for the price however usually good. Elk and Pea had amazing food and wayyy bigger than I thought t would be for the price. Loved it so much
We had brunch for my wife's birthday and the service from the young waitress was exceptional, welcoming with a chirpy smile that made the start of our day. The coffee was perfect and the food was fantastic.
Awesome Choice of food on the menu. The staff serving us were very helpful and we enjoyed their input into what we should eat as new patrons to the restaurant. Margarita's awesome!
When we arrived , I believe the guy who greeted us was the boss. He was very nice and welcoming , it felt like we were already friends ! Service was great and the food was fabulous ! I took my best friends their for her birthday breakfast and she loved the food !
Awesome food, great value, staff are awesome, super friendly, welcoming and know their stuff.
Met some customers for a business meeting and breakfast. It wasn't too loud or too busy so we could have a good, easy conversation and the food and coffee was outstanding. I'll be back for sure.
Great little spot, went there for brunch on Sunday. Food was good, except that my meal was a little bit oily, but otherwise everything tasted great.
Not our first visit and certainly not our last!
Good service, great staff, tasty and healthy options - even us vegans get to eat yummy attractive food 😊
The Avocado and Tomato on Toast comprised two slices of ok bread, toasted within an inch of its life, smeared with a miniscule amount of browning avocado, and topped with three wafer thin slices of tomato. No lemon or seasoning. Salt shaker not at table, and then when provided had no salt. The restaurant smelt really bad, not sure if it was gas or plumbing. Staff said it was renovations next door. Reasonably priced, staff were nice enough, but food quality and ambience were poor.
Service was very good and attentive. Lovely atmosphere inside - was quiet when we first got there (early Sat eve) but then filled up quickly and felt very cosy with a nice vibe. Amazing cocktails!
I used to really love the tacos at Elk&Pea but they have strangely disappeared off the menu. Instead, the emphasis seems to be on the large share plates of meat. We had two - they were good, but extraordinarily expensive. We also had two of the salads - at $21 or so, one consisted of peas with a bit of quinoa and feta thrown in (absolutely ridiculous for the price). While I like this place, I think it is way too expensive for the amount and quality of food and that is a turn-off.
Food was amazing however service not so much. One side dish came out and then main took another ten minutes, followed by the second side dish another 5 minutes after that.... bit strange.
