The Duke’s deed and title are well-deserved.This classic Aussie pub has stood on the corner of Barrack and Macquarie Street in central Hobart since 1846, and has managed to retain its old school charm to this day, even though it’s now a bar and restaurant with modern trappings enough to make it a popular CBD destination for fine pub food and drink. The Duke’s lunch and dinner menus are full of solid proclamations on state of the art eating, from burgers and pizzas to some stelar modern Australian mains. With live music on the schedule and a great space for hosting private functions, The Duke is the holistic Hobart pub you’ve been looking for. The friendly customer service in this tavern like restaurant was very welcoming. The music was a little loud for dining. The meal was wonderful. The waitstaff was very informative and helpful. The beetroot dip was fantastic - a little more bread crust would have been good; with setup of plate and knife earlier. As travelers with little knowledge of the area, we used close dining options as referenced on the phone and The Duke came up. Deb
