Have frequented the Crown on many occasions over the years due to the high quality of food, service and atmosphere. However on this occasion was disappointed. The sea bass, whilst well cooked, was very small and there was too much Hollandaise sauce. At £18.50 I felt this was overpriced. My husband, who had the trout, also felt it was spoilt by an over-rich sauce and again small portion for £18.50. My son had the haddock and chips which again, whilst nice, a bit over-priced at £16.50. The puddings were nice but felt £8.00 each quite expensive.
Probably will not be our regular go-to place due to cost and inadequate portion sizes. Also did not feel the service was very personalised, and very keen to keep asking to top up drinks!
Lovely atmosphere and the food was excellent. The staff very friendly and attentive
Lovely ambiance, staff very friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious the game cobbler was to die for, I would very much recommend The Crown!
A great value meal and excellent service as usual. No hurry either to finish meal or move. Thank you!
Everything good, nothing too much to ask for, no problems and quick service.
First time here and new to the area, the food was delicious and a beautiful pub that also accommodated dogs. Lovely. The only down point is that my partner had a roast dinner ( said the best he had eaten in a long time) however, I did not see a vegetarian roast on the menu. I had the vegetable wellington instead which was amazing!!!!
will definitely be back soon.
Chose outside dining. Unfortunately weather was atrocious, staff were very good, allowed us to finish our evening inside once there was availability. Fabulous food and very good service. This place goes from strength to strength. Will definitely be back soon but will probably book a table inside
Food is always excellent here and good menu.service was also polite and efficient which has not always been the case. It us always busy
Just wanted to say thanks so much for lunch today! We were the couple who were in with their barky little dachshund and we were so impressed how patient everyone was with us. He's a rescue and we're trying to get him used to being around people and at places.
We had such a wonderful time and will be booking in for a stay (without the barky companion) in the near future so thank you
The food was excellent and the wine list was extensive. We also stayed the night and the room and bed were very comfortable. One downside was was the full english breakfast - sausage was grisly and lacked baked beans. Otherwise couldn’t recommend this place more highly for a night away in an atmospheric setting
Lovely atmosphere cosy and comfortable, excellent friendly service and delicious food. We will definitely be returning
Top service from all staff as usual. Excellent value
Disappointing lunchtime visit yesterday. Even though it is not mandatory, no one was wearing masks on entry and no hand sanitiser was offered.
Admittedly it was very busy but the service was slow and it was very noisy, so much so that my friend and I found it difficult to have a conversation. The food was good as expected and was good value for money. But we left feeling exhausted.
Good relaxed atmosphere, lovely food, excellent wine list, service a little slow but I suspect that was due to the staff shortages currently experienced throughout the hospitality sector.
A warm welcome from Nichole and the restaurant looked amazing with all the Xmas decorations that were tastefully done. Food was excellent and a lovely atmosphere so what more could you want.
The meat platter was delicious although too much for us
Lovely meal at The Crown - good service - not rushed at all.
One of the best meals we had in a long time. The staff provided excellent service. Friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was welcoming when we visit suffolk again we will definitely eat or stay here
Delicious beef and fabulous rum baba.
Veg a bit overdone but overall a great Sunday roast.
Pub was very lively and the Christmas decorations made for a lovely atmosphere.
A bit of a wait for our table and we were placed near the door to the garden so it was a bit draughty.
A group of ten, we were looked after very well in a friendly and efficient way. Food was good and a selection to suit all tastes. A good location for people coming from Suffolk, Essex and Cambridge to meet.
The winter garden was lovely very beautifully done. The food and service was top notch. Just under £50 per head for 3 courses and drinks.
Slow service initially and incorrect bill given from another table
Fab food, lovely decor and great service!
Decent food and friendly staff. Main dining room was quite cold and draughty which could be addressed.
First class all round A++++++
Will be back very soon
Very enjoyable meal with great service provided by the staff.
This is one of our favourite restaurants
It was very busy when we arrived for our 6.30 booking but showed to our table and took our drinks order.
We were delighted with the menu and chose our separate dishes
Excellent food and service
We were very impressed with attention to detail on the service front and that was excellent. Food and service very good. Atmosphere nice.
Great place, great food. Staff need to say ‘excuse me’ when re hung over to clear plates and they seemed a little disorganised. But fantastic quality.
First meal out for nearly two years. Could not have chosen a better place. Thank you.
The service was excellent, such nice young staff and great food and drink, and a lovely atmosphere
As a long time Crown customer, this was my first return under the "new" management, and I was pleased to note a quiet but busy atmosphere for lunch on Tuesday. The "waiting" chairs beside the fire is a nice touch. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food met my expectations (four stars). I will certainly return.
Excellent meal and service in lovely surroundings
Apart from rather low and not entirely comfortable wicker seats this was an all round good experience.
Ou roast partridge was one of the best we've ever eaten, moist, succulent and tasty. Put even "Wiltons" to shame
We have visited The Crown many times over the years and know that if we want a good meal in comfortable, relaxed surroundings we are rarely disappointed. The decor and furniture is pleasant and comfortable, the staff attentive without being overbearing, and the menu is varied and interesting with the food, usually, perfectly cooked. In the summer the outside eating area always looks stunning with the plants being well maintained.
Lovely evening with friendly speedy service and great food!
Lovely atmosphere, delicious food and good service.
Great ambience, lovely food and a very warm welcome. Dog friendly - we were made very welcome.
Our waitress - Dawn - was very professional, helpful and great fun.
This was our first visit, but we will be returning. The food was very well prepared and presented; the service was fantastic; the ambience was great; and the choice of wines was impressive.
