The Commons at Ormond Collective
The Commons boasts an all outdoor setting across four new spaces at master venue, Ormond Collective. The Conservatory, The Kitchen Garden, The Garden Café, and The Beer Garden are set within a whimsical, memorable garden event space, right in the heart of Melbourne. The garden has been specifically designed to create socially distanced spaces, within a maze of established trees, planting and potting sheds.
The Commons Garden offers reservations for full meals only, for lunch & dinner. If you are wanting to join us for a drink or takeaway only, walk in and chat to our host at The Conservatory any time the doors are open.
PLEASE NOTE: The Commons has both indoor and outdoor dining areas. With ongoing social distancing restrictions unfortunately we cannot guarantee seating outdoors in the Garden Cafe.

Food was great
The overall look of the gardens is beautiful however everything else is lacking. The service model is confusing..the written menu doesn't have everything on it, QR ordering is preferred but the wait staff can choose to take your order or part of it, the food menu is very limited. Food and drink arrived promptly...food had hits and misses, prawn roll amazing, arancini and butter milk chicken bland, ham toastie good. All expensive and lacking finesse. Overall a real disappointment. We went for a birthday lunch and I was embarrassed to have chosen this venue.

Myself and three friends went to the Commons for a birthday lunch. We had impeccable service, including a mid lunch shifting of the tables + umbrellas as we were in the sun. Food was delicious and the ambience was fantastic! Would recommend

Lovely place, very efficient and friendly staff!
Food and drinks were great, I loved the Limoncello spritz! And a nice touch was when our waiter offered us a blanket when the night got a little cooler. Lots of staff around too so you never had to wait too long for attention. Overall I had a great time

Fantastic experience at the Commons! The garden is so attractive and I take many photos to share with my friends. The food and coffee are also good. I will invite my friends to go recently.
Surprisingly Limited food menu, ungenerous potion of salmon,and my salad needed tasty dressing.
Garden setting is beautiful and attentive staff who made us very comfortable . Excellent drinks menu.
Ambience and service was very good, burger and prawn roll were good but charcuterie board was disappointing in comparison to last time we were at the commons, fish and chips whilst well cooked the fish was over salted in the kitchen, for desert the stone fruit with berries was disappointing, the stone fruit (peach) was like eating a crunchy apple - berries were good. Sundae’s were also good. Overall we enjoyed our visit.

Menu needs to be improved for dinner service. Still using the QR code and not giving much table service while still charging 2% on your credit card each time you order food or beverage is very poor.
Many other restaurants are offering table service again.
Been twice now and first time was definitely better for a lunch.

The food was almost inedible. Over cooked, heavily salted and generally really substandard. Embarrassing really.

We sat in that beautiful garden and had the most lovely lunch ,the food was great as was the ambiance.

We had decided that we would take our grandson, who is 15 months old, along to have something to eat. We had made a booking for 3pm but, at that stage, he had only been in his cot for a short time for his afternoon sleep. When we contacted the restaurant, they were so very helpful and changed the time for us with no problem at all. It was a very hot day. We sat in the conservatory and had a lovely time. We ordered things that our grandson would also like to eat and it was all just right. Without our asking, the waiter brought a high-chair over for us to use. Next time, we will probably come back with friends because we enjoyed it so much.

Absolutely beautiful gardens and space, stunning spot. Food on the more expensive side for what it was - four small arancini balls for $18! Still tasty and very enjoyable. Dog friendly with lots of outdoor space, really hot in the sun but staff were doing everything to make it cooler with umbrellas and offering other options.

Beautiful lunch on a beautiful day in a beautiful setting. Only observation we all made - due to the heat of the sun and the need to keep moving the sun umbrellas, the staff will injure their backs if they continue to pick up and move these heavy umbrella bases.

Fine for snack food in pleasant surroundings, but not for lunch. The menu description didn’t match what was served. Packets of S&P, soiled B&B plate doesn’t bode well for return visit.
Very small and disappointing food menu in comparison to the very large drinks menu. The outside should be decked as we had a large puddle under our feet at the outside table, water on the asphalt unable to drain away after rain or watering the plants.
