So first of all we was served a glass of wine with lipstick on the glass asked for a fresh one all she did was pour the wine from one glass to another although the drink was served in a dirty glass. Lead to the table. Table was dirty - one of my guests asked a member of staff to wipe the table he still didn’t wipe it still.
Food was luke warm at best, said meals were served with stuffing, no stuffing on all 4 of our plates.
Service non existent, food substandard near on cold just about edible and not even all the meal was there.
And to add the hygiene standards of this place are terrible. If you only want to spend £10 a person for a roast and drinks then by all means eat here, but be prepared for some of your meal missing, it being cold and to eat at dirty tables and drink out of dirty glasses.
Will not return.
It was shut because of a liciencing issue. How can you confirm a table when the premise is closed down.?
An excellent meal with family
We had a surprisingly great sunday lunch on a groupon voucher. After reading some bad reviews we were open minded but the food was outstanding. Everything was homemade even the cheesecake! Well done Command House - you deserve it.
Visited with a Groupon voucher for Sunday lunch, really good value at £9 for 2 roast dinners, really good food, well worth it.
I've had a fair few drinks at the command but never eaten there so I was looking forward to trying the food! However this did not happen as we booked a table for 7pm on Sunday and the booking was accepted! We arrived 20mims late after struggling to find a taxi to find the command was closed. We had only booked the table 40-50mims before arriving so why they where accepting booking I don't know. If was a wasted journey tho.
Even if we weren't 20mins late that wouldn't have been long enough to order and eat out food. So would they have kicked us out half way through our meal?
I won't bother again, ended up in wetherspoons as normal.
Absolutely shocked to arrive and be told no alcohol was available due to loss of licence. Food was good at least. Needs a proper revamp as looks so dull and dirty now. Felt very sorry for the young lad serving us as he took all the blunt... unfair on his behalf as not his fault. Wont be going back due to cleanliness needs a good clean up.
The Command House served good food and the staff were really friendly and attentive
Ordered food at 12.10 recived at 1300 I ordered fish and chips no mushy peas got garden peas the table had a wonky leg fish was very dry my dad got chicken two spuds Yorkshire pudding runner peas cabbage would not go again
Absolutely shocking customer service.....we arrived for our booked table to be met by a miserable waitress slumped against the bar....said we had a table and was given a dirty table, which the waitress said she would come and clean and give us cutterly etc ......never got done, didn't even get given a menu.....got menus myself sat there for ages then had to ask at bar if we could be served, had been sitting at dirty table for half hour not one person came to us to even get us a drink! Finally got service no beers as they had a busy night before as we was repeatedly got told....the food was nice can't fault that but we won't be coming back as the staff just don't care there too young......we had to ask to have desserts, we wasn't checked on at all.....we wasn't the only complaining either everyone around us had something to say!
We had excellent service the food was all cooked fresh and tasted great had a fantastic time xx
I was disappointed with the service received, firstly on arrival, to an empty pub (most people sitting outside as a lovely day) we were given a seat for 2 people the smallest table by a pillar in the middle of the pub, asked for a table by the window which we were given, then wasnt told whether we ordered at the bar or waiter/waitress would come to the table, so after waiting ages went to order at the bar and then was told no we take your order at the table, waited ages for the food, which was quite good value, confusion about the drinks, another waiter then seemed to take over and he was very polite, apologetic for everything,. As was a nice afternoon took drinks outside and was lovely hearing live music, must say atmosphere much better then and would still recommend this pub but had been before and was much better service
it was a typical pub Sunday lunch, but was ok, waited a while to get our booked table, the, I presume to be the manager didn't seem to "on the ball" with sorting out peoples bookings, was fine once we were seated again meal was ok, music was quite loud for a mid-daytime session, had been before a while ago seemed a bit tired in appearance since then, but wouldn't stop me going again.
I like the atmosphere in the Command House. The waitress and waiter were attentive. The steak was cooked perfectly to our requirements. The whole meal was very enjoyable. Have been before and will come back again.
Horrific needs to be closed down - look at my trip advisor review for more details
Decent value. Good location and plenty of parking.
Really good value for money, lovely spot on the river, perfect for enjoying a relaxed Sunday lunch. Looking forward to my next visit.
The only plus side to this dining experience were the staff which were friendly & attentive. The building itself was lovely although bit dark & dingy inside & tables quite on top of one another. The food on the other hand was dia!! Burnt potatoes, patak mix stuffing ball (which contained no meat!)!, dried out chicken breast which was so dry it was a choking hazard, and instant gravy to round it off! Certainly glad I got a groupon deal with a saving of 59%! Was hardly worth the £4.95 in which we paid!!!! Hence to say we were not the only customers who thought so.
We a family of 4 adults went on a Sunday afternoon with a groupon voucher. We were told that there was a 20 minute delay with the food so we was all offered a large complimentary drink which was very nice of them. The staff were brilliant and they made sure that we had everything we needed for our meal like sauces etc. We would definitely recommend it and will be back. Thank you command house for looking after us.
Staff friendly but need more training, however, polite and attentive.
Food ok ,but roast spuds too dry been cooked and warmed up
However we would go back to give the benefit of the doubt. However, we feel that chef etc need more training
Booked last minute, service and food was fantastic at such good value for money! And with the music playing aswel...makes such a difference! Thanks for a lovely afternoon!
Mothers day so it was busy... still waited a long time for food(starters was only garlic bread for the kids)... left before puddings as 2 hr car parking ran out
Pork, stuffing and potatoes were dry and not good. How you can make a bad Yorkshire pudding, but they succeeded. It was bad.
Then there was the starters, I have no comments, they were that bad.
The wine was good. Nice MSB!
There was a delay in service, and the moody was very sultry with depressing music. Food was ok.
We sat at the table for an hour before anyone took our starter and mains order (we had already ordered some bread). Food arrived and my steak request was medium rare but it arrived as medium to well done. I sent the food back only to have the plate returned to me with a message from the chef saying I was wrong, it was medium rare and it was the last piece of sirloin.
Needless to say we ate what we could and left. Never again
Good value for money, plenty of food, not the best I've ever had, but loads of it.
The food was extremely poor and had to be returned waited an hour for our main meal and was not impressed. Lovely setting but would not return
Arrived thinking what a beautiful venue, right by the river and very cosy inside, we had this booked since Nov 2018 and we was there Jan 2019 It was very quiet inside, despite this it took 10mins to be seated. The the waiter took our food and drink orders very professionally and we couldn't wait to tuck in, we was told half hour wait for the starters and kids meals to come out together.. An hour and a half later it was brought out and the mains an hour after that. Even though the one chef should of been able to handle it fine on his own the waiter was on his first day and knew the service wasn't acceptable and gave us a bottle of wine for free and I said I'm not happy with that it's not your fault but I expect at least 50% off but he was only eligible to give us 40% off. He's name was kirt and we all felt he did amazing for his first day. Luckily me and my partner both smoke and thought we'd better double check the expiry time on our parking meter while we are out there and there was a ticket inspector so had to beg them not to give us a ticket explaining that we didn't expect to be there that long, if I had got a fine the command house would be paying for it, I don't know if I'll be going back for a second try or not to be honest.
I've been before was yummy, but this timr no steak knife for steak garlic mushrooms stone cold but lovely service oh and my steak medium to rare wad well done
My meal was a,gift from my son and daughter lunch meal for two . The service was good but the food was terrible my beef was under cooked and the waitress never asked how i wanted my beef even though it was a roast . The manager was really good he gave us another meal on the house . I don't think we would go there again
Would recommend for Sunday lunch. Beer very disappointing as very little choice and what was available was poorly kept.
Very good food, ambience and service! Thoroughly recommend.
We booked for Sunday lunch for the first time this weekend after hearing great things, we were not disappointed. Well worth visiting and regret not having booked until now. We will be recommending.
The food :- roast potatoes were burnt black, meat a little tough and tasteless. Service was good. The décor needs attention.
Lovely setting and great staff who work really hard, food was great and i’ll be booking again.
The place was lovely and food was nice however the only disappointment was the fact we asked for certain vegetables to be left off of some of the dishes and she agreed that this was ok, however once all four dinner cane out our request hadn’t been done so we have vegetables we didn’t want!
We was visiting Rochester for the market and see that groupon had a fantastic deal. 2 steaks chips and glass of wine for 2 people £19.99
Beautiful setting, cosy & warm and friendly staff.
Good selection of food & drinks at Reasonable prices.
I’d like to start by saying after everything I would definitely recommend & return if I was in the area. After a few issues the food was absolutely delicious and worth the wait and mistake.
We ordered a few sides to start and a bottle of Prosecco. We had a choice of steak which with a voucher you don’t normally get.
We did have a long wait for our mains but they was busy with a few Christmas parties so understandable.
Once we did receive our food, it was very cold, missing sides and no melted cheese on 1 steak.
The waitress was quick to deal with the missing cheese and said the sides would be out as soon as.
The plate was returned with chunks of Stilton cheese plonked on top and not melted the side orders had still not arrived and the food now was even colder.
I did then ask for the manager who understood and apologised and would deal with it immediately. They was very helpful & did Everything they possibly could to rectify the issues.
Once the 2nd steaks arrived it was perfect. Hot full of flavour and piping hot. Well worth the wait.
They offered a free bottle of Prosecco and we was very happy once the issues was dealt with. I wouldn’t let this put me off returning or recommending.
Didn’t have my partners starter choice and didn’t have my main course choice. The salt and pepper squid was just battered squid rings, the belly pork skin was soggy and my chicken with applewood cheese didn’t have any cheese!
An absolutely wonderful afternoon tea. Exceptional value for money with all sandwiches and cakes made on site. Sponges were so light and fluffy. Phenomenal ginger bread and scones. Will definitely be back.
Half the menu had sold out. We ordered pigs in blankets (£3.50 per portion) to be served 3/4 of a sausage wrapped in near raw bacon.
Service was appalling, we use the command house lots and have always had a good experience, it seems the chef and the front of house staff have changed and the service and food quality has suffered.
