The Chew Chew
Great service, great value, and great food. All around excellent dining experience. We’ll be back.
Good food and service!
Food was terrific. Love the new items on the menu. Service was gracious and excellent.
This is a very clean and neat neighborhood restaurant but can easily be a destination. Excellent food with a varied menu that periodically changes. Full bar with attractive seating. Always good fish, shellfish, steak, fries, burgers, salads and bowls. Highly recommended.
One of my favorite restaurants in the Chicago area! The food and drinks are excellent and the service is friendly.
I would like to know when I’m placing drink order if there is an additional fee for requesting a certain brand in the mixed drink. Ex. Cosmo I requested Kettle One and Cointreau. I was not aware I would be charged extra. Thank you.
Excellent once again. Great food and great service. Chew Chew is our “go to” place to entertain family and friends. Love it.
We come to The Chew Chew a few times a year and are never disappointed. Ambiance, service, and food were all top notch as usual. Great place for any occasion.
enjoyed causal dining. good menu. location and parking is good.
Bacon Week was amazing! I wish I could have sampled everything on the menu.
Bacon week was amazing! Not be be missed!
They had a bacon fest promotion with special small & large plates that were really good. Looking forward to seeing some of these items on their regular menu
The grilled calamari steak was as outstanding as the exemplary service of Sabrina.
Bacon Week - absolutely fantastic! We were so pleased with our service and the food was outstanding. Scott has done it again - always good, fresh, exciting and unique. Best neighborhood gem we've found.
Great place for foodies, nestled in cozy Riverside. Food and service is superb.
Kudos to chef and staff
Solid comfort food. A cut above from the rest. Some sophisticated choices as well. All good with reasonable portions and the coleslaw particularly crunchy and tasty.
Delicious menu, great staff, and family friendly. A favorite spot for our family.
We sat outside and really enjoyed the quiet. My husband got the jambalaya and really enjoyed it. I got the trout with a different sauce. It really didnt need any. I would not have wanted the crab and mushroom sauce on it ( asked for it on the side) as it was way too oily. Potatoes were not roasted; they were not browned, which was disappointing. They brought me key kime pie as an apology for the oily sauce. It was excellent! Would go back!
Great menu selection
Our friends who live most of the year in Florida hadn't been back to Chew Chews since Scott relocated from the Arcade building across from the train station. They remembered loving the restaurant and the food. It was even better than they remembered!
We usually just eat at our house, but decided to go out for a change because it has been so hot. We were also celebrating one of their birthdays.
Everyone found many good choices. They watch their diet and exercise so they are very fit. We all ordered different fish and one chicken dish. Everything was done to perfection. The fish lifted effortlessly off the skin. They commented how Excellent the fish was, much better than they even get in Florida as well as the north side of Chicago restaurants which are highly rated. They said we are so lucky to have such a wonderful Restaurant that we can walk to through beautiful Riverside.
We will be going back soon with other friends because this is where everyone wants to eat out with us.
Macadamia nut chicken is delicious! Also, molten cake is one of the best! Always a good meal!
Yet another enjoyable outing to the Chew Chew. The restaurant has maintained its high standards and culinary creativity and instincts.
A neighborhood treasure!
Service and quality are always solid. We were lucky to get a reservation on short notice. Highly recommend the Florida Style Fish of the Day and of course their Templeton Rye Manhattan!)
The best suburban restaurant for your buck, hands down!
The Chew Chew is always fantastic. Two of my favorites are the risotto and salmon and the steak frites. However everything I’ve had at The Chew Chew is outstanding. The ambiance is nice...it can be a little loud downstairs by the bar, but you can still talk. The upstairs is usually quieter. The service is always top notch!
Went their for Father's Day and ate off the Special Menu. The food was outstanding, I had the Jambalaya with Lobster. It was wonderful. A great place to eat, a great place to bring your family.
Great food. Service not so much this time around.
The Chew Chew is a relaxed, friendly restaurant in which you feel that you belong. The food is good and the servers make you feel at home. They have a very nice menu which some nice options. I especially like the seafood items. Portions are perfect. Just enough!!!
Great food, Soft shell crab was just okay but the crab legs were awesome. Great drinks too, quiet nice place.
We needed to eat a bit early in order to catch a concert, so we dined at 5. To my surprise, drinks were half price because it was happy hour. What a pleasant surprise! We had guests and everyone enjoyed their food and cocktails which were perfectly made to our specifications. The wait staff was friendly and efficient. I ordered the trout with crab meat because I know that their fish is always fresh and cooked perfectly so it lifts effortlessly off the skin and you never encounter any bones. It was delicious. My husband had the soft shell crab special of the day which was delicious with asparagus which was outstanding. The bread is fresh baked and has changed a little in appearance, but tasted so good that we ordered a second loaf which only cost $2. Together with the home made herb whipped butter, you can't stop eating it. The meal size is generous, and my friend couldn't finish hers. The rest of us devoured every enjoyable morsel. It is worth a trip to historic Riverside just to eat here. Outside seating is also available.
I had to Macadamia Nut Chicken it was delicious! The only thing that I can say against the place is that if you want extra bread they charge you for it.
Chew Chew is one of our favorite restaurants and will continue to be. But my recent entree was disappointing. I have ordered the trout with crabmeat in the past and really enjoyed it. But this time the dish had no flavor or seasoning. It tasted like separate ingredients put on a plate. Perhaps in an effort to “lightened” the preparation, the chef chose to replace the beurre blanc with a light broth. It was not successful. We will be back, But I won’t order this dish again.
Always delicious and fresh ingedients. Great cocktails too.
Delicious food, professional staff. Always a satisfying visit.
May have have been an off night. Had dined here and had a wonderful experience-great food and service. This time, food was okay. Could not find our server/a server regarding our food order (luke warm on its way to cold). We typically go early to avoid crowds, not sure what was going on that day
Food tried to be seasonal and innovative, but fell short of the mark. Boring and fairly bland. Ambiance and staff were great though, cocktails good.
The Chew Chew was good. Service was very good and the drinks were very good.
I just didn’t like the food too much. It was great quality. But the flavor profile wasn’t right for me. I ordered the salmon risotto, the risotto tasted like Mac n cheese, with too many garnishing veggies. The salmon was fine, nothing to write home about.
My date ordered the chicken parm and she didn’t care too much for it either.
We did eat both plates but I can’t see myself going back any time soon.
