Very good lunch .. Good service and great food would highly recommend
Great night shame it will be 4 weeks until we can do it again
Beautiful pub in a beautiful village. Friendly and attentive staff. Food is reasonably priced and delicious.
Fantastic last date night before lockdown will be back soon as they are open again.
Very busy, pre-lockdown! Food good, waitress friendly. Only issue was that people kept going out of the back door and leaving it open (including staff)! This left us in a draught and it was first cold night.
Want to support them as they were so good during first lockdown - looking after the elderly.
Lovely food and attentive staff. Would definitely recommend to friends and family
We were sat outside the gents toilet so no chance of the stream of people going to the toilet social distancing. The door to the garden was constantly open so I had to get up to close it during my meal. The food was great and very well cooked.
Great brunch for 2 and very well looked after by Luke .
Lovely atmosphere service and food always welcoming
We really like going to the Chequers,it is a friendly pub with super food, have never been disappointed.
Even nicer now the open fire is going ,lovely ambiance, would highly recommend.
First time visit was very nice, food was good and the pub was comfortable. Service was a little slow but it was a busy Friday night. Would recommend and revisit.
Food is lovely. Really tasty, well cooked - they clearly care about the food they serve. Thank you.
Lovely food, had the vegetable lasagne which was lovely but the portion size was ridiculous, could easily have been for two if not three people.
Both really enjoyed our meal sat by the fire which was lovely. Friendly staff.
Great, good service and good food at our local pub/restaurant! Thanks
Easy to book, good Covid precautions. Delicious food and great service. We’ll be back!
Good Covid standards. Felt safe. Well spaced out. Great food and service.
Nice drink after work
Waited quite a while for the food but it was delicious when it did arrive.
Another excellent Sunday lunch
Very nice pub in the village. Friendly staff, great selection of great quality food. I tried one of their pizzas while my other half had a lasagne. Both were great, would recommend both. There was a carvery on as well which looked very nice but didn't take our fancy on this occasion. I would definitely go back to try the carvery another day!
We had a lovely meal in delightful surroundings on Wednesday, 30 September, but although all the staff were extremely friendly and attentive, the meal was a long time coming.
The food as always was very good but service very slow two hours for two courses. We didn't complain could see they were doing their best but it was excessive waiting.
Very good pub food, fresh and good portion size. Some nice ales on sale. Had a special discount offer for September which was why we visited but would definitely go again.
An excellent service was provided. The staff were courteous and professional. The food was first class. I would definitely recommend this establishment.
Great food, great service, great view. Good variety on menu.
Another amazing Sunday carvery even if it was too cold to sit outside this week
We had a roast 'like Mother used to make''. Crispy roast potatoes, roast parsnips, yorkshire pudding, a great selection of vegetables and a generous helping of meat with the option of gravy. Everything handled strictly by Government guidelines by in a friendly, helpful, manner. Highly recommend the roast but an extensive menu option also available.
Visited during the first day of tighter covid restrictions ( facemasks when leaving the table etc). It was well explained. The weather was bad so everyone was inside but the staff worked well. I would use it again. Good food, old English pub , historic village, free parking. V GOOD.
Great place to go for lunch. Recommend the Moules Mariniere
A lovely birthday lunch for my wife
Very good service .. lee was a master server and was faultless. .. food was wonderful.
Another fantastic Sunday lunch next to the river looking forward to next week already 😃
lovely food, we've been going there for the last few weekends enjoyed it every time
We arrived at 12:45pm for our booking and was seated inside, after asking to be moved outside we were given a lovely table overlooking the river.
We placed our order for food and drink and drinks were brought out shortly after.
We then waited for 30mins to get our starter but it was a busy day so nothing too major. After we had finished our starter a waiter came over to reconfirm our order (A carvery and a pizza ) this was about 1:30pm and despite numerous reminders and prompts by 3:15pm we decided to leave as it did not seem that we would be getting our food.
Food was good as always however did have a bit of a wait for the mains as they were busy.
Lovely pub, full of character and a great riverside setting!!
Staff are very friendly, food great and overall a great little place!!
Waited more than an hour for 2 salads. £12 per salad, not worrh it
Lovely little pub with really good food & great service
Very pleasant Sunday lunch with friends
The carvery was good but we had to wait over 45 minutes for a simple dessert and even then it didn’t come. We left without dessert and so then had two crying children all the way home.
Most disappointing and I doubt we will go back.
A great shame as their sister restaurant, The Hengist, is one of our favourites.
