Ordered expensive steaks. Steaks were under cooked and tasted like rancid meat. Awful.
Our food was forgotten after an hour of being ignored by staff, the staff blamed us and told us we only ordered 10 minutes ago but we had actually ordered 60 minutes ago. No apology was given and we were late to our show.
Dinner was well presented, timely and with no fuss. Wait staff attentive and efficient
The environment was spectacular!
My friend and I don’t particularly dine out much and haven’t mastered the niche of fine dining as such, so there was no expectation set. Now that I’ve eaten at the charming squire, I expect no less! The food was brilliant, I personally dislike chaotic menus and am always nervous I’ll buy something I won’t enjoy. I can assure you this won’t happen at the charming squire, the palate of choice works wonders!
As for the service and venue, I am obsessed and will be going back regular! They’re prompt and food is cooked to perfection and on time, no disappointment.
I’ll be sure to have business meetings here as the noise/ambience wasn’t overbearing and able to have conversations!
The waiting service! Brilliant, the young man was assertive and friendly
Staff didn’t know the menu, could get a pina colda but have had them in the past there, when we paid bill as wrong and the girl was very rude, have been there many times. My husband said there were 6 strikes so we won’t be going back. very disappointing night
Having been here before, prior to a show at QPAC, we knew what to expect. However we were disappointed in both the service and the food this time. Drinks were not offered, some drinks were forgotten and a meal and sides went missing. Glasses were not collected when they were accumulating on the table. We booked and came here for a pre show dinner having enjoyed our times here before.
Great steaks and huge desserts! Nice meal all round.
Single reason for choosing Charming Squire was proximity to the QPAC. We were a family of 12 with 4 of these Children under 13. I would not choose the Charming Squire again for such an occasion, however, I may choose it for an all adult occasion for a smaller group
Delicious food, great service and just a minute from QPAC
We had visitors from out of town and they lived it !
This was a great place to go prior to an event at QPAC. We advised the waitress that we were needing to eat before we headed out, so she was very helpful in getting our orders in so that there was no delay. Food was delicious and good serving sizes. A little noisy for my liking, but it did not detract from the overall night out.
Meg our waitress was outstanding. I ordered crispy chicken breast and it wasn’t hot and had a bone? My Son had medium rare eye fillet which was very rare in the middle, almost blue. I’m happy to leave a tip and we did for Meg, however the diners beside us were very taken aback when asked if they would like to leave a tip for their server Meg. The look of horror on their face. Sorry but we are not the USA and I hope the charming squire pay their staff correct wages? Would we rush back, probably not. Your question maybe why we didn’t send our food back? It appears ther restaurant was busier then expected that night and I watched the chef ringing the bell for pickup and getting very short with wait staff for not getting the food at the pass quick enough, they were busy taking orders! Yes we have both worked in busy restaurant’s so know how it feels.
Great location for pre-show dinner. Very busy and loud. Service good but could have been a bit better. Still, they were very busy so that can explain it. Food very good!
The staff were friendly and attentive. The food came promptly and was hot. Our entrees were nice as expected. One of our mains was a steak that wasn’t cooked as we requested. The staff were very obliging, the steak was returned to the kitchen and cooked more. The steak was sinewy so all in all not a very nice steak. We’d definitely return but perhaps avoid the steak.
Thanks for the opportunity to give feedback
Absolutely loved the food and the service. Already recommended the restaurant to family, friends and work colleagues.
The kitchen staff forgot about the other half of 2 of the meals, and we were waiting a while for that. Drinks would take a while to come back out to us. And the menu options were limited.
We were attending a show at QPAC, and we were seated, fed and out the door in plenty of time
The Salmon was excellent
Food is incredibly overpriced for the quality delivered. Service was good.
Service excellent. Food interesting and enjoyable.
Slightly too noisy from next door - at times difficult for conversation to take place.
But would most certainly have no hesitation in returning.
I was there with my friend 9th of March. Steaks was awful and they smell like old engine - burned lubricating oil. Nobody apologised and deleted steaks from the bill.
Considering it was a busy day with an event on at southbank the service and food was lovely!
Food was good service was great I was impressed with the waiters knowledge of the menu, but music just to loud from bar area, could barely hear my partner in conversation, and felt I had to yell for the waiter to hear me.
Great location opposite QPAC perfect for lunch before a matinee. Food is excellent but the service can be a little lax. Overall - a lovely experience.
We ordered the kids fish and chips for my grandaughter and her great granny who love fish. It WAs greasy had a funny taste . Both left them and ate the chips. I had the chicken was just warm and didn’t have much taste. I told the waitress when she came to take the plates away but didn’t seem bothered. We’ve been there a couple of times food was lovely not sure if got new chef but won’t be back.
The service has declined over the past year. Inexperienced wait staff results in an underwhelming dinner. When you pay top dollar, you expect top service. The menu has also been reduced in range. No chocolate option in the dessert range?
Food is still top quality.
Excellent food with great service and good ambiance.
The food was amazing and the service was brilliant. Thank you for a lovely dinner.
The Charming Squire Restaurant is a fabulous place to entertain friends or celebrate a special event.
This was my fourth visit to the restaurant and my family and I will return again soon!
Thanks CSR team!
The food was good and the staff were friendly. Apart from the waitstaff getting our drinks order wrong three times, they were lovely, helpful and very friendly. It’s a regular for us when we see a show at QPAC.
I enjoyed a lovely pre-theatre meal with my husband. It was a good start to a great evening.
The food at The Charming Squire is always good and the service is very good. we had an enjoyable pre-theatre dinner. My steak was cooked perfectly and the mashed potato was lovely.
We advised our waiter that we were attending a show at QPAC which commenced at 7.30 pm. With that he took our orders and the meals came out in plenty of time to comfortably enjoy our meal and make it to QPAC with time to spare.
Our requested steaks for the group of five ranged from blue to medium , and all were delivered perfectly cooked. Vegetables were also tasty, a perfect accompaniment.
A great range of beers at the right temperature was very much appreciated.
Will attend again when not attending a show as the entertainer provided great background music.
Absolutely oustanding service, great ambience and food. We will be back.
Absolutely gorgeous. Food was incredible, service almost even better.
This is my third trip to the Charming Squire and I must say we nearly didn't go back after number 2 trip as it was a shambles, but memories of the first trip and those Arancini balls made us give it another go. To say it was back to the first trip standard is praise in itself. The staff from start to finish were excellent, the food was very nice( again you must try the Arancini balls), and the beer was as you would expect from an ale house. To quote the music guru Molly Meldrum," do yourself a favour", and go and have a meal, I know I will again.
Awesome food and great location to QPac, the staff ensure you get out on time to see your show which is awesome customer service. Highly recommend.
Overall a good experience with no bad points. The banquette alcove suited our party of 6 and was quiet enough we could all enjoy the conversation.
Excellent food and service by all. Looking forward to dining here again.
We had a lovely Dinner before a show at QPAC. It was very convenient , good food and easy before the show. The food was good and served in a timely manner. Would probably suggest the more casual dining experience through the bar or pantry as we were with our son and the food was a bit fancy for us.
Enjoyed the food and atmosphere before walking to QPAC to see a performance. The restaurant takes reservations.
