Food is incredibly overpriced for the quality delivered. Service was good.
Service excellent. Food interesting and enjoyable.
Slightly too noisy from next door - at times difficult for conversation to take place.
But would most certainly have no hesitation in returning.
I was there with my friend 9th of March. Steaks was awful and they smell like old engine - burned lubricating oil. Nobody apologised and deleted steaks from the bill.
Considering it was a busy day with an event on at southbank the service and food was lovely!
Food was good service was great I was impressed with the waiters knowledge of the menu, but music just to loud from bar area, could barely hear my partner in conversation, and felt I had to yell for the waiter to hear me.
Great location opposite QPAC perfect for lunch before a matinee. Food is excellent but the service can be a little lax. Overall - a lovely experience.
We ordered the kids fish and chips for my grandaughter and her great granny who love fish. It WAs greasy had a funny taste . Both left them and ate the chips. I had the chicken was just warm and didn’t have much taste. I told the waitress when she came to take the plates away but didn’t seem bothered. We’ve been there a couple of times food was lovely not sure if got new chef but won’t be back.
The service has declined over the past year. Inexperienced wait staff results in an underwhelming dinner. When you pay top dollar, you expect top service. The menu has also been reduced in range. No chocolate option in the dessert range?
Food is still top quality.
Excellent food with great service and good ambiance.
The food was amazing and the service was brilliant. Thank you for a lovely dinner.
The Charming Squire Restaurant is a fabulous place to entertain friends or celebrate a special event.
This was my fourth visit to the restaurant and my family and I will return again soon!
Thanks CSR team!
The food was good and the staff were friendly. Apart from the waitstaff getting our drinks order wrong three times, they were lovely, helpful and very friendly. It’s a regular for us when we see a show at QPAC.
I enjoyed a lovely pre-theatre meal with my husband. It was a good start to a great evening.
The food at The Charming Squire is always good and the service is very good. we had an enjoyable pre-theatre dinner. My steak was cooked perfectly and the mashed potato was lovely.
We advised our waiter that we were attending a show at QPAC which commenced at 7.30 pm. With that he took our orders and the meals came out in plenty of time to comfortably enjoy our meal and make it to QPAC with time to spare.
Our requested steaks for the group of five ranged from blue to medium , and all were delivered perfectly cooked. Vegetables were also tasty, a perfect accompaniment.
A great range of beers at the right temperature was very much appreciated.
Will attend again when not attending a show as the entertainer provided great background music.
Absolutely oustanding service, great ambience and food. We will be back.
Absolutely gorgeous. Food was incredible, service almost even better.
This is my third trip to the Charming Squire and I must say we nearly didn't go back after number 2 trip as it was a shambles, but memories of the first trip and those Arancini balls made us give it another go. To say it was back to the first trip standard is praise in itself. The staff from start to finish were excellent, the food was very nice( again you must try the Arancini balls), and the beer was as you would expect from an ale house. To quote the music guru Molly Meldrum," do yourself a favour", and go and have a meal, I know I will again.
Awesome food and great location to QPac, the staff ensure you get out on time to see your show which is awesome customer service. Highly recommend.
Overall a good experience with no bad points. The banquette alcove suited our party of 6 and was quiet enough we could all enjoy the conversation.
Excellent food and service by all. Looking forward to dining here again.
We had a lovely Dinner before a show at QPAC. It was very convenient , good food and easy before the show. The food was good and served in a timely manner. Would probably suggest the more casual dining experience through the bar or pantry as we were with our son and the food was a bit fancy for us.
Enjoyed the food and atmosphere before walking to QPAC to see a performance. The restaurant takes reservations.
Thoroughly loved our dining experience on New Years Eve!
The food is always great and the atmosphere was fantastic, we thoroughly enjoyed our dinning experience.
The food was nice. We were served by Alex. He was excellent.
Delicious food, refreshing drinks and outstanding service. Highly recommend!
Lovely lunch for nye. Good cocktails and nice food. Service was good. Have eaten here before and would eat here again.
Great food with excellent service. Knowledgeable and honest staff with food recommendations
Beautiful food and atmosphere. Expensive for food, sides should be complimentary when paying $40 for a meal.
Great food, flavour combinations were amazing. Recommend the calamari and arancini balls as a starter. The calamari was one of the most tender squids I’ve ever had!
Server was not very knowledgeable, service was very delayed and portions were very small for price value. Drinks were to par.
Food was amazing. Service was initially a little slow but soon picked up and was appropriately attentive. All of us thoroughly enjoyed all of our meals and the service.
A very rushed experience. Food was tasty but when we requested dessert we were told that it would take 25 minutes to serve as it is made from scratch! Each dessert is made upon order. I think the Charming Squire might be a Charming liar.
A bit overpriced for fairly standard food and ambitious craft beer. It’s not craft beer by ant stretch. It’s just mainstream ordinary beer well marketed with clever names.
We attended the charming squire after a graduation event and were running late, we called ahead and they were happy to keep our booking for us. Our waiter Brett was a lovely young man who took the time to answer all our questions and explain the specials for the day. The food came out within a good amount of time and everything was delicious especially the lamb and also the ribs.
Thankyou for a lovely late dinner.
Atmosphere was great. food and service were just good
Service was very slow
Having been to and enjoyed the restaurant many times before this visit was a disappointment. We were seated for 10-15 mins when our waiter became available; as we had picked our meals we ordered drinks and food at once, only to be told that several items of meat were unavailable, leaving only beef or fish. We felt that the lady who seated us and provided menu's could have told us of any menu changes. The meals were sizable however the fish dish (barramundi special) was incredibly salty. Our waiter was polite and it was a busy night, but overall really disappointing given past experiences. Not sure how on a Saturday night at Christmas the kitchen can have run out of both chicken and pork.
not very good service we ordered an entrée then fish and roast pork as our mains with some sides . we ended up with fish and a steak , which after confusion and investigation by 3 wait staff turned out to be the next tables meals . As it was getting late we didn't get the entrée or the sides we ordered
