The Brooklyn Diner Times Square
Always great! Great service and great food. Love the chicken pot pie.
A nice little place in the Times Square area to grab a good meal. Menu is varied, but not overwhelming. Portions are moderate to huge, dependingbupon what is ordered.
The chicken pot pie is outstanding!! Chunks of chicken (lots), plenty of peas and carrots, a savory sauce, all covered by a flaky puff pastry. This is a HUGE meal in and of itself!! The best ever. The chicken noodle soup is made from scratch, and has enough chicken to make it a meal if a bowl is ordered. A cup is a really nice appetizer.
The double burger is really good, and the fries are spot on everytime. Breakfast is also fabulous...two words...pastrami hash. You’re welcome.
Service is on point, but if dining on Friday evening, or anytime on Saturday, it is best to book a table because it gets really crowded. Theatres are only a block or two away, depending upon which show is being attended. Let wait staff know if attending a show and they will do their best to expedite the order.
We arrived earlier than our res and that wasn’t a problem.
We had a salad plate and a pastrami Rueben which were delicious.
We got in before a show and had good food and great svc.
Our party had two kids under the age of 10, and it turns out they are extremely picky eaters-I was worried that their mom wouldn’t find anything for them without it being a headache, but our waitress Tonia was a great help. She pointed us in the direction of their kid-friendly grilled cheese sandwich and chicken parm, and the two adults thoroughly enjoyed the crab cake sandwiches. We all left with full bellies, so all was right with the world. Thank you!!
We had a wonderful dinner at the Brooklyn Diner. It had something for everyone and our server was great!
We loved it and so did our grandchildren. And being so close to the Theatre District was a bonus!
New restricted menu is disappointment. Kugle was only decent dish
The food is well above-par for a diner, and their signature pastrami looks particularly good. I had the veggie burger which was squeezing out of the bun a little and the fries aren't crispy, but everything tasted fine. The highlight was that we didn't feel rushed which was surprising given we were in Times Square, but that may be expected when you're paying a little more for your meal.
Good place to meet a business contact. The food was good the bathrooms were clean.the food showed up timely. What more can you ask for?
The menu didn’t disclose Walnuts on one of the salads. As a person with but allergies this is pretty horrifying. The crab cake was so fishy smelling there is NO way it was fresh. Sent it back, they offered to make another but from the same batch of mix that was prepared that morning. As if it would smell any better? Word to the wise, if you can smell your seafood before it reaches the table, don’t eat it!
Not a good experience.
Seated immediately... Our play was across the street, so the location was perfect. Grilled cheese was better than expected and so was my partner's steak sandwich; however, I could not add anything to my selection, i.e., a burger patty to the grilled cheese; and they didn't serve onion rings. Fries were not that great.
Reservation seated on time. Service excellent food brought to table quickly and very hot. Wait time for the food was short. Meal was after a show but we heard another group come in whom were first going to a show and were told they would make it. Overall this is the third time we ate hear after a show and will do so again
Food was decent but service was terrible. Got order wrong. Didn’t come to table to see if things came out correctly
The food was just ok. So many great restaurants in NYC. I wish some of them were closer to Times Square.
Delicious food, WONDERFUL Cheesecake, professional, attentive and courteous staff and manager on duty.
Good restaurant to dine at pre-theater, given its location. Food is OK, but service is quick and friendly if you are in a hurry to make a show.
I was very pleasantly surprised by our dining experience at The Brooklyn Diner Times Square. I learned that it was a very old establishment with lots of history. The menu was filled with delicious options for comfort food at decent price points. I had the pastrami reuben and it was fabulous. My daughter had the cheeseburger and it was also delicious. The service was friendly and we were in and out in time to get to our Broadway show. I would recommend this to diners looking for an authentic New York diner experience.
We took our grandchild to her first Broadway show and we went to the Brooklyn Diner first. The service was great - friendly, patient, appropriately attentive. We had breakfast food - pancakes, an omelette and avocado toast. Everything was good and plentiful. We weren’t rushed. The diner was clean (including the bathroom). Despite being priced a bit on the high side, the location makes it a great choice before a matinee.
Nice, clean, semi quiet, spacious place to grab a meal before a show. Love that reservations are available. Food is simple but very tasty; some great combinations and twists on classic dishes. Great variety for families.
Served wrong dish
As always, the meal was excellent. Service was excellent. The only disappointment was the coconut cake. It was not what I remembered . We were looking forward to the same cake from the last time, but, this was different, and, less than mediocre .
Very convenient to theater district, and quick service. Perfect for pre-theater.
It is my new go to place before and after the theater- excellent food -vegan options -excellent staff -I left my phone there they waited for me to come and get it -terrific
Excellent food. Great service from friendly staff. Super close to theaters for before and after theater meals. I highly recommend the Brooklyn Diner.
consistently perfect and a great gem for any meal…either one by the way
My burger which was quite expensive was horribly undercooked and almost raw. When I sent it back after eating some they charbroiled it and brought me back a crisp overly done charcoal encrusted half a burger. Since they raved about their burgers being the best in the city I need to point out that one should not buy a burger at this restaurant.I thought the server in manager did a very good job and they did not charge me which was the right thing to do there for the higher score than I would’ve given based on the food
Terrific Pastrami Sandwich with little bowl of home made Chicken Soup; mmmmmmmmmmmmm!
Got the Rugelach and took two home; also terrific1
The food here was fantastic! I had the chicken pot pie, which took a bit longer to be served but I saw lots of other yummy meals being served up all around me in less time. The location was perfect for lunch right before our Broadway show.
Great atmosphere. Enjoyed the food and experience. Big portions for the price. Food tasted great.
Really nice restaurant just one block from the New Amsterdam Theatre. Was seated right on time, great service (thanks Dave!) and the food was great. A bit pricey. 2 hamburgers, a pastrami reuben, 2 milkshakes, a Pepsi and an iced tea was $91 bucks. But we would definitely go back again!
I have been a big fan of the Brooklyn Diner, but about a month ago they changed their menu and got rid of many of their best items. If fact, the very items that made them a fun and unique experience. The Blackened Salmon Burger, which was great, and the Kugel Sunday which was fun. They still have the egg cream, which is excellent, but not much else on the menu is something purely their own. The pastrami sandwich was just so so, and served on a bread that my friend didn't like at all.
Also, awhile ago, I stopped by before our reservation time, to give them my credit card, so that I would get the bill, and they mishandled it, so someone else got the check.
Our server was excellent! Took a while to get our order, but once it was all there, everyone enjoyed their meal. The kugel is delish!
Food was FANTASTIC, our server was pleasant, very helpful and overall was a most definately, we will be back !!
Two appetizers provided a surprisingly tasty and appetizing vegan meal that I would absolutely order again.
Our waitstaff was thoughtful and attentive without hovering.
WOW! LIT! Awesome! A great memory for our family of 6! Joel, our waiter, was full of humor and fully engaged each of our kids on our visit. For all the people this diner serves in a day .. we left feeling special !! And the food was awesome ... chicken pot pie the size of your head .. great burger .. really enjoyed the steak mushrooms and mashed .. cheesecake dense yet fluffy! Thank You Joel ! we will long recall wrapping up our trip to NYC at the diner as you delivered far more than good food .. The Brooklyn Diner (43rd Street) will be part of our family story of NYC when we head back home to Atlanta! Thank You!
David is excellent
We've been to various Brooklyn Diner locations over the years and we've always had a good experience. If you're in the city to see a show or visit a museum, and you don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on dinner or lunch, the Brooklyn Diner is a good choice. Comfort food along with more modern choices are cooked nicely, friendly staff waits on tables. Food is solid - my favorite is the cuban chicken. Nicely-sized portions. Great for families!
Place is ok in itself and staff are welcoming just not for me.
