    You had to order from the app on your phone so no personal service. Also, we ordered appetizers they came out about 2 minutes before the meal. I looked at the server and the meal was just dropped off on the edge of the table. We spent $ 200 I felt like for nothing.

    The view is gorgeous, and the food was good. Oysters were excellent. Downsides? The 20% service fee applies even if your server doesn’t take your order, and you still have to tip the staff on top of it. Also, even with all of these fees and tips, our table was piled high with glasses, plates, etc and the servers bringing the next round just sort of ignored them. Very strange service model. Also, if you want to sit outside near the gorgeous view, You have to pay $5 per person in your party. Maybe it’s worth it? Questionable. Even still, we’d go back for those oysters and the view!

    Please bring back the Chesapeake Chicken. We went there specifically for it. So disappointing to learn it’s been removed from the menu.

    This is the place for great seafood! We ordered many appetizers to share. The oysters were delicious. There were many kinds to choose. The hushpuppies were large, soft and sweet. We were not disappointed.

    I do not like the method to order. It is annoying to try to see all choices on your phone. The food, the view, the pleasant servers deserve the high ratings but I much prefer having a menu on the table. I would not have chosen to go to this restaurant if my guest was not so interested in the view.

    The Boathouse at City Point provided the perfect location and atmosphere for us to get together with friends for a birthday celebration. The food, drinks, and service were second to none.

    I don't mind tipping but to automatically add gratuity to a bill and you place your own drink orders, appetizers and meal on a webisite is not ideal when I am out dinning.

    Enjoyed an anniversary dinner at the Boathouse. We've eaten at 3 other locations but this was our first time at the Hopewell location and really enjoyed it. The location along the river was nice. We enjoyed the Filet and Fried Shrimp, then had the brownie and ice cream for dessert. Tip - If you want to sit outside, I guess you have to note that as a special request in your reservation.

    Did not like upcharges for window seating, upcharge for banquets, 20% auto pay on ticket when we did all the work other than run food out + tip ,having to wait with reservations (some folks 80+)... we have frequented multi times and it’s no fun !!

    You need to drop the touch free system. More headaches than it is worth. 6 in our party food came out separately. I had to finally ask where my food was. I never got the dessert I ordered. Waiter was frazzled when we asked to pay with cash. I asked to pay with cash because last time I was there my credit card got hacked.

    We went for out 10th Anniversary. They treated us very well. I set up with them to have flowers for my wife waiting on the table when we arrived. It went great. The only thing that could have been better was that they charged 20% gratuity on the flowers and not just the food.

    Excellent food and service. We were there at 2:00 pm for lunch and were seated outside. The weather was great and the server was wonderful. The only issue that there were four people, two couples and the ordering ap doesn’t allow for separate checks.

    Food was wonderful. Good idea to use phone to order drinks and food so we didn't have to wait on waiters to show up. Food and drinks came out really quick and the view was great. Really worth the 1hr and 30min drive. Highly recommend to anyone.

    This is my favorite of The Boathouse locations - great views of the James River, nice layout and vibe to the restaurant, wonderfully prepared food, and EXCELLENT service thanks to a new phone based ordering and payment system that frees up staff to take care of clients. If you havent been yet you are definitely missing out by not heading to Hopewell and checking it out.

    Horrible business model. Awful service. Don’t go here. They make you order your own food in stages, pace it to the kitchen yourself, and charge a mandatory 20% gratuity for doing absolutely nothing. Complete rip-off. . We immediately walked out. Will never return.

    The service was horrible, incompetent and not present, the required 20% service charge was not at all justified. And, that's separate from the QR Code ordering which was not a good experience. The food did not redeem for the miserable service. French fries had been cooked well before they were served, not hot at all. Some food never arrived, even after we asked about it and they said it was on the way. The only thing going for this spot is the view of the water.

    My son selected this location to celebrate graduating from VCU. By far one of the best dining experience I’ve had in a long time. We had a party of 28 and the staff was AMAZING. . I can’t remember our Captains name, she was training a new employee , both were great. I will most definitely be back next time I’m in town.

    The quality of the food is not what you will be expecting for the high price tag. Also, the service is very poor. You do not have a waitress. You have people who run food and drinks. You order from an online menu and required to tip 20%. It is absolutely outrageous the downturn this restaurant has taken. Also, when we requested the manager at three separate occasions due to poor quality and taste of food. She took it away and took it off our bill. Then asks us if she can get us anything else in place, goes in the back and adds that to our check! I consulted her again and told her we assumed she was trying to right the poor experience with dessert, no simply was bringing us more horrible tasting food at our cost.

    Go to the other location in midlothian and Richmond. This area is located in a semi sketchy area primarily in the hood, servers were rookies there was so many miscommunication with one of ours, and couldn’t get our bill straighten out that we had to get the bar manager to fix it. There was so much that happened but all I can say is I will never return to this location
