Modern Australian
The Barre, Arts Centre Melbourne’s sleek space, offers a touch of luxury and hint of showmanship. You’ll find a lively pre- and post-show buzz that takes the bar and eatery from early evening to late night.

The modern Australian menu, with its emphasis on fresh seasonal ingredients, offers both small and larger dishes to be shared and enjoyed with friends. Choose from a well-considered wine list with prominence to local winemakers, an exciting range of craft beers and ciders, or a distinct selection of cocktails and small-batch Australian gins and single malt whiskies.

The world of booze, bubbles and beers is ever-changing and The Barre is excited to also offer a range of alcohol-free options.

From a pre-show sparkling with a share plate, a meal with a fine wine or a mellow late-night drink, we invite you to join us at The Barre.

I love the new sharing menu however it is a juggle with such large plates on such small tables for two. Othe than that, everything was wonderful, from the menu choices, speed of service for a pre-theatre meal and of course the delicious cocktails. As always the service was welcoming and friendly with finishedplates cleared away ina timely manner. We'll definately be back!

We dined here before the theatre on a busy Saturday night. The staff were very friendly and efficient and were able to serve us a couple of courses in less than an hour without feeling rushed. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Would happily recommend dining here and will be definitely be back.

Good humour from the wait staff. Upgraded our table when asked if one was available. Fresh, wholesome, interesting dishes. Plenty to eat. City prices. Attentive service. Lovely setting & great ambience. Close to the Fairfax Studio.

Service was prompt, friendly and professional however, the serving of saganaki was overcooked and very leathery, proving to be difficult to cut through.

Yet again, the veal saltimbocca was bland. Most of the raw ingredients are there so why not re-balance to make into a an interesting "jumps in the mouth" dish as it actually is intended to be.

Great place to catch a bite before attending the theatres in the Arts Centre. Essential to book an early slot as the service is understandably slower when it gets (extremely) busy pre-theatre. Food is good, freshly prepared and a small menu - which keeps the quality up.

Unfortunately, we had to ask where our meal was after waiting 35min. This happened, when we were on a tight schedule to see a show, left us with 5min to eat our meal. I’ve eaten at The Barre often and this is the first time we have had this experience. Hope it’s the last

Unfortunately there was a big delay with the food and the first main wasn’t warm and came before the entree. The gnocchi was really ordinary. We put pesto on it from another dish to save it.

The service was great, however my husband and I both had the brisket which was really chewy. Brisket is meant to fall apart and almost melt in your mouth. This was certainly not like that. We did mention this when we paid. The vegetables and fries were lovely. Next time, we will steer away from the brisket,
