The Apprentice Restaurant Sydney is a licensed training restaurant that promotes and nurtures food service excellence. We are open to the public for lunch and dinner on weekdays during term time, and our standard menu changes fortnightly.

This was our third visit to The Apprentice and each time we have had a very pleasant experience. The food is excellent. On this visit two of us had the duck which was cooked perfectly and two had the salmon which also got thumbs up. Some of the service is “different” but that certainly does not detract from the overall experience. Worth a try!

The food was delicious and very interesting combinations of taste. I've been coming to The Apprentice for years and have never been disappointed... the food and service have always been excellent, making it great value for money.

We celebrated a birthday at the restaurant. The staff could not have been more accommodating, even coming out of the kitchen to sing Happy Birthday. The food was excellent and rivals other 4 star restaurants in the city. I look forward to coming back and highly recommend to everyone. A hidden gem!
as a staff member I have enjoyed a few lunch and dinners at the apprentice and have always had an amazing experience. The food and the students/wait staff have been so friendly and courteous. This time I took my elderly mother and she was so impressed and loved being fussed over by the young waiters. she is now thinking of bringing her ladies group for a lovely lunch, for seniors it is very good value for money and the food presentation and service exceptional. you would not know you were dining in a training environment.
Great experience- it’s fun! The beef was delicious. It’s great to watch the staff being mentored.
A True hidden gem, Everyone that works there is an apprentice. The food is to die for the service is professional and fun and the value for money is exceptional
I always love going to The Apprentice for lunch for value, ambience and food quality - which is outstanding.

Great food and service as usual. We have been numerous times and are always impressed.
The quality of the food is generally good thought the last couple of times I have been served cold main courses. This is not appropriate for any restaurant service.
Last Thursday evening the calamari was like cardboard to cut and over cooked.
I was in no way tempted to eat it, far below the standard of "fine Dining ".
While the meals in the past have been at the 5 star level and I have happily booked large tables of guests to accompany me I am will now wait and see if the standard of the meals improves before making any recommendations. .
Whilst visiting Sydney from south of Wollongong we once again took the opportunity to have lunch at TAFE NSW's The Apprentice Restaurant at Ultimo and what a superb dining experience it was yet again. An exceptional job by the cooking and food service students. The selections on offer for entree, main and dessert went together brilliantly. A credit to everyone involved. Thank you.
The staff in my skills team have eaten her many times before. Probably about 12 times in 18 months. It was the best food we have eaten at the Apprentice. Don't get me wrong, It is always great value and lovely food but this last week's meal, Wednesday Sept 11 was superb.
Another great meal. Food was of a high standard and service was efficient and friendly.

This is a brilliant concept, giving young people the experience of working in a restaurant while they are training. The food was fabulous and all the waiting staff were polite and accommodating. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening and would recommend it for sure.
Nice but cannot really call it fine dining. The food is average but good value and the venue is nice!
A unique way to experience good food in a inner city location. Everyone here is learning, so if you go into the experience knowing this you will have a great time! For small fee the hospitality students at TAFE will deliver amazing service and food- the teacher may add a few pointers along the way to them, but this is part of the fun- and you might learn something too! Highly recommend!

Situated on the 7th floor of a building a stone's throw from Central Station, Sydney, The Apprentice Restaurant is an exceptional dining experience. The food is good and the service is tremendous. Only filtered coffee on offer at the end of the meal was my only criticism and a cheese plate would have made a savoury finale to a wonderful dining experience.
This was our second visit but our first lunch. Booked for 12.30 which we knew was last time for lunch. Service and value for money was excellent just disappointed that from such a small menu some of the dishes had run out. Next time we will arrive earlier. Otherwise a very good experience.

Nice to see learners are developing skills in a supported environment. The students I spoke to were very proud of the tasks they had completed and enjoyed the learning process.
This is a Training School, so it's natural to expect some little service hiccups. The staff were welcoming, friendly & keen. The food was really delicious & beautifully presented. The value for money was excellent. Overall I enjoyed the experience - it was cute, quirky, something different & enjoyable.

The venue is great, and is quiet which is greatly appreciated
The food was stunning - we did not plan to have dessert but could not resist given the quality of the entree and main and we did not regret it. We were able to have share plates so each of us could try each of the dishes.
The staff were pleasant, attentive, helpful and not obtrusive

Service was great, food was very good only let down by limited choices for main as they ran out of the lamb after 30mins. Recommended
I dine at "The Apprentice" training restaurant quite often. It is always a god dining experience.
This time I think is one of the best days I've been there. my guests were very happy with the food, ambiance and service.
Great food, high quality. Service was reasonable as we also understand the students are still learning. We are 3 courses in 1.5 hours which is very reasonable. It is excellent value for money and importantly enabling the students to practise what they are learning. Recommend to anyone to try.
Very good food, in traditional style but well-judged. Terrine, funky with liver. Lamb nicely done, pureed spinach with a sharp note to cut it. Pannacotta not too sweet. Quite exceptional value for money. Service really friendly and willing. (Not totally smoothly organised, but that's the point, they're learning.) Altogether the nicest lunch experience I've had in a while.
Everything was perfect but thought that our waiter should of known more about the menu to answer any questions.

The food itself was excellent and stupendous value. And we got warm bread, our water was refilled nicely, and we were asked whether we wanted wine. However, despite offering three choices each of entree, mains and dessert, we were not allowed to choose what we wanted. We didn't realise this until we had waited for a while, decided we'd better ask for the menu -- at which point we were told we could not order -- that that the kitchen basically would send out one of each choice for our table of three. I accepted this, strange as it seemed, but had to ask again for the menu as least we wanted to see what we were going to eat. We asked the supervisor about this after the meal, and was told that as staff were new and only on their third week of training, they hadn't yet learned how to properly take meal orders. While this is understandable, they could have at least been trained to 1) give the guests the menu; and 2) tell guests (from prepared notes) that we would not be allowed to order our choices from the menu, and why. Just a suggestion -- we had a great meal nonetheless.
Thank you for your feedback and for supporting our students' learning. We do advise on our Open Table site that meals may be served alternate drop (table de hote). This is decided by the class Teachers before each lunch or dinner and is determined by the number of guests in the restaurant and the number of students in the class and their skill levels. We will pass your feedback onto the Teacher to discuss with their class. We hope you dine with us again.
