We dined at the Albany for a late Sunday lunch, there were a good choice of chicken, beef, pork and lamb roasts for adults, plus a chicken & beef roasts for children. The food was nice, relatively well priced and the dining area had a nice feel.
The service was not great, given that the dining area was only half full the staff did not seem to be able cope, we had to wait a while and make several attempts to get anyone's attention for all parts of meal; ordering drinks, mail meal, desserts, extra drinks & the bill.
I recommend the Albany for a nice setting & decent food, hopefully the service will be better in the future.
It was Valentine’s Day, so they were slammed. The service was slow but admirable under the circumstances. The food was a dissapointment, if only because the venue and decor were very nice - more gastro than pub, and it’s situated right on the Thames. With a little more finesse on the food, this could be a really outstanding place.
We weren’t able to get a table outside on a really warm evening but the nice and comfortable internal structure worked out well.
The waitress and host were both professional, welcoming and put us at ease.
The food service was quite slow and was only apologised for afterwards (which was appreciated) rather than having our expectations set beforehand (which would have been preferred)
Wagu burger was my absolute highlight
We were late - but the team delis everything to accommodate us, but thank you to the manager!
Our waitress Rachel was lovely and super helpful - even when we went rogue on the coffee menu for a cortado!
Beetroot on the roast veg was raw, and portion of food was a bit mean for the price.
The food was lovely, and the atmosphere was wonderful suited the "gastro pub" name perfectly, given the atmosphere the food was well priced perhaps even cheap if it was closer to London. The service was very diligent however too much for my personal preference not as relaxed as I was hoping for given it was a lunchtime meal
Ran out of various food and drink items
A great value venue with tasty options on the fixed price menu. The staff were friendly, helpful and competent. However the crab rolls were disappointing with lots of bread and little filling.
Both the service and food were good, we really enjoyed the meal.
Great afternoon in the sun
Delicious food and amazing cocktails
Arrived for evening meal 6.45.
5 items not available on menu because of a busy Sunday.
Ok that's fair enough, but when our Roast Beef was brought to the table,no Yorkshire Pudding.
When I questioned this with the waiter he said they should have told you we have run out of them.So they gave us extra potatoes as a replacement.
When we got the bill an £8.50 drink was on our Bill, when I questioned this they said it was from the last person who Sat at our table.
Not very professional.
Won't be back.
Food was good although steak was v small and prawn and crab linguine was also quite light in prawns
Derive was good and decent o level of quality overall
Not cheap but nice evening
Lovely riverside pub with a good choice of food. The staff were attentive, but not overbearing. Food and drinks were delivered promptly, and all food and drink was of a good standard - well presented and flavoursome. We stayed for several hours, but were not rushed at all, which made for a leisurely afternoon.
The quality of the food really is a cut above the average gastro-pub. Good selection and high quality along with excellent service.
Lovely place although upon arrival we noticed smell of old like beer perhaps too many spillages on the floor that dried up.
Our table was at good spot but had some glass marks on it and cutlery weren’t the cleanest either.
My wife ordered cocktail and I had beer myself which tasted good, but my wife didn’t get a straw or wasn’t even offered one + I had to get some tissues as we didn’t have any coasters and tables were getting bit wet from our glasses.
My wife ordered rack of lamb which wasn’t the cheapest and also it wasn’t cooked to her liking and meat was very chewy so she left half of it on the plate.
We didn’t complain as that’s not our style unless there is something terribly wrong.we liked the wibe and staff seemed nice so we will come back at some point and we give it another go on the food.
I took my mother for Sunday lunch for a treat by the river and ended up having my worse dining experience ever!! It took the staff 15 minutes to take our drinks order so as a precaution we also placed our food order at the same time. Afree 5minutes I noticed our drinks sitting on the bar after a further 10 minutes I called the waitress over and informed her that I believe our drinks are ready at the bar! Apology given drinks served, after another 40 minutes waiting for our staters my wife asked to speak to the manager were we alerted him to the fact that we have been waiting 45 minutes for our starter. 5 minutes later they duly appeared with comments from the manager that we will not have to pay for them due to the delay. We waited a further 30 minutes for our mains when we decided to call it a day and leave minus our main course, 4 other couples followed suit and also abandoned the restaurant due to the extreme delays.
The view is amazing, but we thought food was average, definitely not worth the money.
This is a wonderful pub in a fabulous location along the river thanes. Food is lovely however it is very pricey. We were over charged with our food & a pint of larger shandy is £6.25!!!! Which is ridiculous. Our Sunday lunch was over £100 for two adults & two children with no bottles of wine just shandys.
Awful, for one they used nuts in a dish I wasn’t aware. I had an allergic reaction to which was unfortunate as it was my birthday. The service was bad, the pub was dirty. Poor
Great food - service was very slow and waiters were generally inaccessible for anything we wanted.
We had an excellent meal, well presented and produced in good time. The only down side was the lack of soya milk (or any other non dairy milk) so we were unable to enjoy a coffee after the meal.
Lovely meal and the service by the staff was excellent.
The food was good - tried the seasonal menu which was priced well. Service a little slow but it was busy Sunday lunch time. Friendly staff.
Good pub food, service and ambience. Also lovely location by the Thames with fantastic views
We've been regular customers since the Albany's original makeover and have never been let down on any occasion. Sadly, last Sunday was a big disappointment. The management had obviously underestimated how busy it would be and there were nowhere near enough waiting staff. The Sunday roast was average but we did not complain because it was so out of character for the Albany that we didn't want to make a fuss. We sat on the top deck and it was very pleasant but we waited more than 30 minutes for each course and I had to go into the bar area on 2 occasions just to pick up menus and place another order. We were sad because it had been a special get-together with a friend who had had a long drive. But we are sure it was a one-off and will continue to enjoy meals at the Albany for many years to come!
Walk in table behind bar, which meant it was noisy, and we were largely forgotten by the waiting team so service was slow. Food average for a Sunday roast. Can’t fault the location though!
I've been to the Albany several time and have always been impressed with the location and general feel of this pub. On a warm summers day sitting outside by the river is idyllic. The service is very good even though during busy times slightly slow, which is to be expected. The staff are attentive and very helpful which makes for a relaxed atmosphere. The menu is varied and all the dishes i have tried so far have been excellent. This is certainly a venue that you can come and spend a relaxing lunch and afternoon. Perhaps the coffee could be hotter but was more than exseptable.
It was a very disappointing experience. I had booked ahead but when we got there were just ignored by the incredibly busy staff. We were eventually noticed after 20 minutes but then had to wait a further 10 minutes for a table to be cleared so we could be seated. The service was terrible to be honest - waited ages for our menu, to order and for our food. We didn't leave until after 10.30 from a 7.45pm booking and we only had one course! They need more staff, or at least more attentive staff, particularly when you factor in the cost of the food & drink.
Enjoyed the day out but at very busy time. The service was very good but the place was so busy that they did the best they could with numbers of diners. Would recommend to dine at less busy times. Lovely location and friendly staff. Would recommend
Very good all round.
One minor issue where the waiter (who was very friendly, relaxed and courteous) made a mistake with my main and ordered the wrong dish from the kitchen.
However, the staff realised the mistake, I was profusely apologised to and they wrote off the cost of my main before I had even said anything, and my actual main then appeared about ten minutes later.
They also have my favorite cider (Thistly Cross) which I found in Edinburgh only last month and I do like the staff and general ambience very much.
Will return, recommend and look forward to my next visit.
While the staff were friendly and the food was good, time management leaves a lot to be desired. Our group of 3 turned up at our booking time to be told the table had been put in the system for 15 mins later and we would need to wait. Half an hr later we were eventually seated. Service between meals was extremely slow and while it was a busy Sunday afternoon I feel it didn't justify the delay.
