A fresh seasonal produce driven menu inspires our ever-changing Mediterranean cuisine with plenty of gluten free options. The theatre itself remains constant, but the food and the menu are constantly evolving. Why not enjoy the stunning views of the Yarra river whilst indulging in some cheese & dessert on Southbank Promenade.
All good outside drinks took 15 minutes to come on both orders.
It’s our city go-to for quick dinner with our teenage kids. They love it! Diverse menu so something for everyone. Food is always consistent. Great drinks menu too. Service can be a bit hit & miss but we had excellent service from there this time. Great for a casual meal.
Great place to go before a play or a movie (which is what we were doing) - Let the staff know your time-frame and they'll make sure that you're out in time. Also great for just having a relaxing diner with friends. Food is good and staff friendly and make sure that you are happy with everything.
Loved it! Food, ambiance, location.. Tho would've liked small puzza option pre-theatre#
Tapas menu has been more inviting in past. Would have appreciated waiter going through the specials menu as had ordered pizzas (good quality but overpriced as are drinkd) before realising croquettes were on the menu when I spotted them on the board on way to bathroom!😟 Friendly prompt service which is always appreciated when you have a show to get to.
Always visit Teatro for dinner when we attend a show at the Vic Arts Theatre complex. Food and service is of a high standard whith the staff very friendly and helpfull.
I think they might of been under staffed as it took quite a while to get a second drink
I cannot recommend Teatro any more. On Saturday night we had to choose 3 wines before one was available, chosen desserts were not available- only 2 left , pizza was cold and had to be returned. Staff were responsive and aplogetic but it does not compensate for the poor dining experience. We booked for 6 pm as a pre- theatre dinner, food and wine should be available at that time of the night.
Fabulous food and great drinks menu Sangria was delicious
Very good service, food was delicious particularly the Margherita pizza and the corn salad. Good selection of drinks and its such a good location
Lovely place for a pre show drinks and meal. Great food and selection of bubbles too. Staff were attentive and lovely, will become a regular at Teatro xo
Great food and service, convenient and picturesque location, easy to get to
We booked Teatro on the recommendation of a friend and were not disappointed.
The food choice was excellent and they were able to accommodate the requirements of my friend who has a severe lactose intolerance.
Perfect place on a balmy night for a 14 yr old's birthday. Lovely service. Nothing was too much trouble.
Good choice in an area with lots of choices. Pizza topping disappointing, but rest good.
Pizza was undercooked and quite soggy even after waiting a long time for our meals.
The food was superb and the serving staff lovely. Going back next week as enjoyed it a lot.
To be honest the only thing that I loved were the churros. The rest of the food was very overpriced, small and bland.
Pre Show noise high. When pre show people gone service lapsed. All hands on clean/set up. Only downer.
Great service; waiting staff attentive once table was full. Will always eat here when it suits us.
The paella is great, but pizza is soggy and tasteless.
Food was well presented and tasted delicious and service was both on point!
Friendly, efficient staff. No problem to change order at one stage. Helpful with wine choice. Very busy night pre-theatre. Staff managed well. Happy to recommend.
Food was average at best. Quantity on the platter was ridiculous for 4 people. The cost of $45 for what we go was exorbitant. Pizzas for $26 & mussels $32...small..many overcooked & dry. Overall not the best choice for a Sunday lunch.
Great service and interesting food that’s beautifully presented and done well. But it is just so noisy that any conversation is almost impossible. If you can sit outside that would be a better option than inside.
we had lunch here 22/3/19. we were 5 people. 2 of whom had just arrived from UK. i had wanted outside but it was very hot so we were very easily accommodated inside in a very comfortable corner area. wait staff were excellent. we all chose from the lunch menu. my 4 stars for food was because the portions could have been larger. i’d have been happier without the glass of house wine or soft drink and more food on my plate. food was however well presented and tasty. i will definitely go back again and recommend it to my friends.
Very good food, fast service and great atmosphere. Overall a night to remember, would definitely return
Food service and atmosphere were all great for a reunion dinner in Melbourne making it a great night
Have been several times before and always lived Teatro. On this occasion we were not told there was a second booking until we were asked to move to bar to vacate table. The next sitting did not arrive for another 40 minutes. As usual the food and drinks were of high quality but being hustled out was disappointing. So we went elsewhere. The menu had also changed (simplified) and our favourites were all gone which was disappointing.
Friendly staff, easy booking system, quick service as we were going to the theatre. Excellent food and wine list and we finished our meal with a good coffee. Would certainly come back for another meal.
Delightful and helpful staff; brilliant position and excellent food.
Food and service was excellent. We had the Spanish Feast everything was hot and tasted great. Only complaint which we discussed with the staff was the quantity of food. There was so much food that a lot went to waste. So be aware that you should order at least two less than you need.
Great food. Simple Italian/Spanish influence. Amazing flavours. The charcoal grill is amazing. Wood fired pizzas are simple but delicious - just like they should be. Great ambiance. Inside and outside seating. Great for large groups or intimate gatherings.
Teatro is the logical place for a meal before a show in the neighbouring arts precinct. The late afternoon/early evening that we dined at Teatro most recently was VERY hot. We had requested a ‘cool’ table. Unfortunately we were placed near the main entrance door which was wide open - this resulted in hot air entering Teatro. We asked if the door could be closed to contain the air-conditioned cooler air and were told that this was not possible. The table was also intolerably noisy - the shouting of the kitchen staff and the jacked up background music made conversation impossible. It was also difficult to hear the softly spoken waiter. The food was as we had anticipated and quickly assembled. Having dined many times at Teatro pre-concert we were disappointed this time - to be brutally honest, the Southbank food court would have been a more pleasant auditory option...sadly, we will be reconsidering our usual ‘go to’ restaurant pre-show in future.
Way too loud when the place is full. On Friday night it was impossible to have a normal conversation; we tried shouting at each other over the din but soon gave up and were forced to eat our meals in "silence" until we were finally able to escape outside. All hard surfaces is a design choice that you have clearly gone with to create atmosphere but the effect is unpleasant at busy times. I would not recommend Teatro on a Fri/Sat night in particular; might be OK for weekday lunch maybe.
On Wednesday Service was very fast. In and out. Never an empty table.
I thought pizzas was a bit pricy bit was very tasty. Mussel a bit disappointing - Quite small inside.
As with most crowded places very noisy. There is an outside area at the side (quieter) which I would book next time.
Third time we have been love the quality of food service great got us in and out in good time to see the show. Only issue have you guys put more tables in so close together a bit too squashed in
Dinner for two and birthday treats!
I had only discovered Teatro the week prior so I was happy to return with my sister for a pre-show dinner! We had only had two pizzas but wow! The Gamberi pizza: king prawns, nduja, fresh chilli and mozzarella as well as the Prosciutto pizza: vine ripened cherry tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella… both were divine! And to top off a great dinner we received complimentary bubbles to celebrate my sister's birthday! Thank you so much Teatro team “I'll be back!” :D xox
Great place, food, atmosphere however when you need to call the waitress over to take your order.....shocking.
