A fresh seasonal produce driven menu inspires our ever-changing Mediterranean cuisine with plenty of gluten free options. The theatre itself remains constant, but the food and the menu are constantly evolving. Why not enjoy the stunning views of the Yarra river whilst indulging in some cheese & dessert on Southbank Promenade.
Great food, great location, great staff - really enjoyed ourselves
The food was amazing. Flavours so vibrant and rich I didn’t expect. Expensive but absolutely worth it.
I would recommend Teatro for it's location and the service. I thought the food was a bit disappointing.
Sadly customer service was astray this day
Had to wait around to be seated
Then waited for 10 minutes for menus Know one seemed to know the areas they where working in Found it all a bit messy Lovely girl in the end to serve us But took time
sat at the bar and had a great view of the river. Food service was prompt and the pizza and scallops were delicious.
Sitting at the bar watching the chef and his team at work is a delightful experience, sharpening the taste buds in anticipation of pleasures to come. Fabulous food, good selection of wines at reasonable prices. Attentive wait staff. What more could you want before the opera?
Was great food but completely over priced. Service was brilliant and sitting outside was nice albeit small rocky tables. Seemed to many tables squeezed in everywhere. Service from staff made the difference they were absolutely brilliant! Thank you.
Service was prompt professional and friendly without being intrusive. The food delivery was also nicely spaced to allow you time to enjoy the excellent food. It was a Friday night and the place was full and vibrant which is fine but not the place for an intimate dinner. An enjoyable place to dine none the less
This was my first visit to Teatro and my guests and I were not disappointed. We were especially impressed with the care given to us by your staff.
Great food, and quick service perfect for a pre show meal.
Very well prepared and presented choices.
It was quite good except the paella was a bit watery. There wasn't a crust like there should be but there was plenty of seafood in it.
Good quick pre theatre meal, very loud, very crowded, very close tables
Excellent food and great service. We were there on a very busy night so a little noisy, but can’t fault anything else. Worth a visit!!
They had too much salt in the paella, so unfortunately I didn't enjoy my meal.
NEVER GO AGAIN. Booked pre theatre. Table was in queue of close seating noisy and not comfortably spaced. Cafeteria style.. Orders were slow to be taken but when our main course was on the table the Front of House came and pre-emptably moved us to an adjoining vacant table. Just moved the placing of my companion. Server completed changeover and apologetic.... comped the coffee! To top it off we had ordered the Signature Paella which was drowned in sauce and left no taste in the ingredients.
TOTALLY BAD EXPERIENCE which we paid for...not a good result.
Would have left before eating but CAPTIVE as we did not have time to eat elsewhere before the show.
Ambience and noise level were poor. Service was only fair
We sat outside on a balmy afternoon and had an early pre theatre dinner. All the dishes were great ....both taste and presentation. The jamon was a generous portion served with a ring of warm homemade crusty bread....heaven.
The waitress was friendly, prompt and very helpful.
I will definitely go back!!
Excellent prompt service.
We were there for a pre-theatre meal and were a bit worried we might have to wait but didn't have to wait long at all. There is a 'happy hour' $7 drink offer and the house wines offered were fine. Friendly and responsive staff. A bit pricey but the location is very central (great for the art centre) and you can have views over the river if you sit outside.
Delicious food, attentive but bot intrusive service, a great place for a business lunch, we dined inside and had a peaceful friendly experience. Highly re c commend their lunch special. They are ample portion sizes, well cooked and be beautifully prepared.
Delicious!!
Impossible to find. Once we found it, we sat, we read, we left. It's a loud, upscale pizza place. Check the menu before booking.
We loved the great pizzas and informal, friendly and efficient service. Well done guys & gals.
Terrific service, excellent meals. We weren’t told we needed to order sides with the meat dishes. Brilliant Paella 🥘
Service, ambiance and food was generally very good. Barramundi dish was the let down, as it was very salty.
The food was amazing and the staff were very friendly. Didn't keep us waiting and was very prompt with service. Definitely will be going back.
We’ve dined at Teatro several times. I’m a regular visitor to Spain & love the Spanish style of food. Teatro is right up there with the best restaurants I’ve dined at Spain
We enjoy our ladies lunch before attending The Australian Ballet, it's become a bit of a tradition. Whilst we liked the new menu we were disappointed to see that the "Potato" Pizza had been removed from it. That was one of our favourite menu items, please consider bringing it back.
すごく混んでいて なかなか席に案内して貰えなかった。 注文も時間が掛かりました。20:00には空いたけど 早く出て行って欲しいようで 不快でした。
We love dining here, so much so this was the second visit this week. This visit was to bring some interstate corporate clients to dine with us. They loved it! the food was delicious and allowed everyone to eat according to their preference, while experiencing something new. The music was turned up louder as the place filled up, making it harder to hear, but I suppose that is the atmosphere that they are trying to create. But the food was still amazing.
We felt the food was of nice quality but service we received could have been better as we hailed a few wait staff several times and ate dessert with plates and boards from mains not cleared.
We have gone to Teatro for years and it was a Spanish tapas restaurant but it appears it has been bought by Chinese and the menu has changed since we were here - which was only a couple of months ago. It bears no resemblance to what it once was and we won't be returning. I had lamb shoulder which was as tough as 2 tooth (old sheep) and a friend asked for gluten free and we were given a menu for this but it didn't seem to be exact. Our dips were to come with normal and gf bread but she got some wilted celery which had to be returned to have their ends chopped off. as they were dirty and wilting! they had no gf bread. Tapas seems to have gone except for a few offerings at the beginning of each main meat dish on the menu. We felt beans as a side at $17 was vastly overpriced.
We ate at Teatro early before thw opera. The food was very good. The service was a little slower than it usually is - we go there often pre-concert, and had allowed plenty of time for tapas and wine. Obviously we don’t like it if we have a long wait or have to rush eating. All good in the end so will go back.
The paella was delicious and the waitress was so friendly and even lent her sunnies to my friend because it was really sunny and glaring outside. Definitely recommend to anyone.
Lovely food and great service. Will definitely be returning!
i love eating here, the location is great, staff professional and friendly, food selection is good. however it is noisy! perhaps choosing a different table location might help and avoiding Friday nights just after work. $14 too for a glass of Prosecco (it was very enjoyable) is a bit steep.
Great vibe, tasty, well prepared food, friendly staff. We will return.
Excellent food and service always. Love the options available. Staff were lovely and we were provided high quality food quickly. The only negative thing I would say is that the young man who seemed to be managing the restaurant (from England?) was overly micromanaging his staff and it was obvious that he was. They were all doing the right thing but he was on to anything he thought might not have been done or not done properly. The staff were excellent even with his overmanagement of their work.
worst meal experience in melbourne. ever. worst meal experience in melbourne. ever.
