Located in the scenic and historic precinct of the Rocks Tayim aims to bring the wonderfully rustic flavours of the middle east to the forefront with a contemporary twist highlighted by the best sustainable produce from around Australia. Chef Ran Kimelfeld brings his wealth of experience and knowledge to present an exciting menu which will follow the seasons to excite the senses. The wine list and cocktail offerings have been curated to match the distinct flavours of the menu and will be will be a fantastic mix of the new and classics with a twist.

Beautiful, pared back decor and lighting, with plenty of room between tables so there was a sense of space, airiness and privacy. Gentle and warm service - so appreciated. Beautiful food, with amazing flavours. The cured kingfish was outstanding, and so was the rainbow trout. We would have appreciated a far more generous serving of hummus - it isn't an expensive dish to produce and we adored it but there was not nearly enough of it!! Thank you for a memorable dining experience.

The staff were incredibly friendly and the food was delicious!! Highly recommend taking a visit to Tayim whilst at The Rocks

The service was great. We were greeted with a friendly smile and they were accommodating to our dietary needs. The food was presented beautifully and was very tasty. I would of liked to see a wider variety of desserts. Two options were not enough. Would definitely go back again.

Excellent food! Would highly recommend. The trout was the best fish I’ve ever had. Cooked perfectly and the flavours were amazing.

Went here for a birthday with 6 of us. It’s tucked away in the Rocks and has a great fit out. Food is sensational. Delicious flavors and plenty to choose from. We opted for a la cartel which was good but I’d double up on dishes like the lamb if there is more than 4 of you. Wine list is very reasonable. The let down here was the service. Constantly looking for servers, having to get up to get our wine only to be told off (amazing how they appear when critical)! The kitchen was let down by them when we were there, but luckily the food and the setting trumped the service.

We had a lovely meal - high quality ingredients prepared with care and creativity. Excellent service, wonderful ambience. We had the tasting plate as a starter, very generous, and were pleased with the range of vegetarian options. Had a wonderful cocktail too. Highly recommended.

Slow roasted lamb shoulder was excellent - moist and juicy flavours were lovely. The mushroom borek was a little disappointing as the pastry base was very hard, however, the mushroom filling was delicious with a wonderful variation of funghi.

Delicious and innovative take on Middle Eastern food. The fire-roasted eggplant is amazing. Gorgeous small venue with raw sandstone walls, tucked away in The Rocks. Refreshingly untouristy. Very nice service except our main courses took a long time to arrive. Teething problems maybe. I'll be back!

Top location, stunning interface of convict sandstone, industrial edge lighting . Stunning organic wine, scintillating cocktails & authentic herbs & spices with fresh succulent ingredients!

Amazing food in both appearance and flavour (every dish was like a work of art!) in an exquisite setting - you almost feel like you are in ancient Jerusalem as you are surrounded by the old sandstone walls. Wines are a little esoteric (many Turkish and Greek wines) and so it would help if the menu contained a bit of an explanation of what each one was like. But could not fault our evening.

Lovely set up, great for casual dinning and a chat. Menu is good but they need more on it.

Would go there again!

If you buy the skewers, watch some are metal and you can burn your finger tips.

The person who greeted us wasn't particularly friendly. no smiling.

However our waiter was excellent. He was friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the food and wine, this made our dining experience most enjoyable.

The lamb was excellent and the desert was really light and different.

The atmosphere was relaxed, comfortable and chic. I liked the decor. The noise level was okay we were able to talk in normal tones and were able to hear each other. That was a plus I thought.

I definitely enjoyed everything about Tayim and would recommend it to friends.

Lamb shoulder was delicious. Kangaroo kebabs a bit tasteless and wagu cigars a bit salty.

Enjoyed Tayim for a pre-theatre dinner. They were very aware of our time constraints and made sure we felt looked after and not rushed but were out in time. The space is lovely, set between thick convict-hewn stone walls, we were alway fond of the previous Scarlett restaurant here.

The food is "modern middle eastern". We really enjoyed the kingfish tatare, the delightful mushrrom borekas, the fig salad (probably the best item), and a prawn skewer but the wagyu cigars were rather over salted and a strange texture. Our dessert, a semolina rose pudding accompanied with pistachio meringue and summer berries was large enough to share and was delicate and delicious.

The wine's we had by the glass, both red and white were well chosen and decent value.

We'll be back - there's plenty more on the menu to try.

Mouth watering food from head chef Ran Kimelfeld. We tried all of the starters and couldnt fault them. The Hummus is sensational and the wagyu cigars a table favourite. We had the lamb and the fish mains with 3 sides and all were cooked to perfection with tasty Middle Eastern flavours. The desserts were out of this world, I had to ask for a doggy bag as I didn’t want to miss a mouthful but my stomach was protesting! And rounded out with a pleasant surprise when the bill arrived, only $50 per head with drinks! I’ll be back soon for sure
