spinach, roasted tomato, mozzarella, goat cheese, chili oil
escarole, radicchio, celery, cucumber, red onion, tomato, whipped ricotta, grilled rustic bread, red wine vinaigrette
Rigatoni & Sausage
hand crushed tomato sauce, crumbled sausage, pecorino romano
Overcooked pasta with flavorless sauce; salmon was okay, with a delicate lemon sauce but that was overpowered by tomato paste cooked potatoes it was resting on. Broccoli rabe was so tough it was inedible. Food seemed carelessly prepared, and it was not cheap!
Great family dinner!
Excellent service and great patience as we were dining with 2 demanding people in their 80’s who had little patience
Nice spot. Food is good. Service could have been better. Our server seemed uninterested in serving us.
Our server, A…… seemed to be either never trained, or really unbelievably in a different world. We really like Taverna, but she was the worst server ever.
Everything was wonderful from host to server to food! Made for a great night out!!!
Truffle fries and veal meatballs were amazing . Labrusco decadent
Worth the visit
Food is consistently good, well plated, and service was okay albeit disjointed; the reason for the overall average rating was our experience walking in the door. The hostess behaved as if we were a bother and we almost walked out.... we will next time we experience this.
Our waiter was great!
Food is still just ok
Not as good as the Newark location.
Dishes are too saucy
Salad was not so fresh
Outdoor dining was nice!
Wish the food was better
Delicious food, friendly staff. Held my table as we were running a little late.
Great food and spectacular service, enjoyed the dinner with our daughter to start Parents Weekend! #bluehens
Always a great experience at Taverna & the other PDG’s restaurants
Christy, our server, was very pleasant and did a great job!
Service was very slow, but I assume it is workforce related due to the pandemic as they are now closed Sunday and Monday. Food did not disappoint.
Celebrated a family birthday. The food was excellent! We had artichokes to start, and ordered 3 entrees for 4 people, served family style. We actually had leftovers, because the portions are large. We shared 2 desserts, and there was a sparkler in one for the birthday celebrant! The lemon sorbet was excellent, best I’ve ever had.
Service was perfect. We sat outside. Even though it’s near the street, traffic noise wasn’t an issue.
Only “down side” is that the chairs are low compared to the table. There should be cushions available for shorter people to make it more comfortable. That’s a minor thing, though, and won’t stop us from dining there again.
Salad , Bibb. Excellent
Entrees we’re just acceptable.
Good food. Little expensive. Great service.
A go-to location we always enjoy. Friendly, thoughtful and efficient service by Alex, delicious fried calamari and Caesar salad to start. My chicken Taverna was perfect, love the breading and the sauce. Hubs also praised his chicken and broccoli rabe dish. Too full for dessert. My only small complaint was the dim lighting in the back area where we were seated.
Service was fine. At our first visit food was wonderful.
Not so good this time. Food wasn’t warm or tasty.
Caesar salad was good. Pizza was beyond burnt.
Soup tasteless, pork sandwich tasteless as well.
We will not return for awhile.
I always enjoy hearty meals at Taverna, but with August heat I decided to go with salad and grilled protein. I've had this at several outlets, but never here.
I was disappointed at the salad when served. Frankly, it did not look like grilled chicken, but rather chicken cubes you might see on one of the deli pre-packaged salads.
Always have a good time
Food used to be great. Now it’s just average. Pizza was undercooked.
This was our second visit and what a pleasant experience. We sat outside on the very lovely side patio, lined with impressive landscape. It is rare to find such inspired use of quality plants and knowledgeable landscaping by a Delaware restaurant! Kudos to Taverna management. Our server was also high above the bar set by too much of the local competition. She was very knowledgeable, pleasant and able to answer our many questions about both food and drink. The food was again well above average. We will definitely return.
Delicious food, outstanding service and wheelchair accessible. We could not have asked for more.
Great food and drinks. Service was a bit slow but it was Saturday night. Waiter was knowledgeable and made great choices for my appetizer and entree.
Excellent food and drinks! Always one of our favorite places for our sisters’ dinner!
We have been probably about six times and we have consistently enjoyed the food. The staff is always pleasant we are usually able to get a seat and we have always been comfortable and enjoyed our dining experience.
Just a night out with another couple for dinner. Food and service were excellent. Pricing was a bit high for the food/area. Never heard of wine from a tap, but they have it. Didn’t try that though! I live close and would probably go more often if the prices were a bit more reasonable. No apps or dessert, two standard cocktails. Pasta dish and salmon dish, no sides. $86 for two. (Includes 20% tip). If we had ordered our normal apps and dessert we’d be well over $100, value isn’t there.
The atmosphere was awesome. The chicken ravioli was awesome
It was average to good in all aspects. The server (Alex) was very nice and personable. He needs training (as most do these days) in the finer points of service. The table was set with a chipped b&b/appetizer plate which I used for bread and my shared apps. Caesar was very good, chilled romaine and homemade croutons. Shells Aurora was very rich (which I liked), but with only a hint of spinach and the chicken was over cooked. Our drinks and wine were good. I might return, but won’t rush back.
First time at Taverna North. We had high expectations since we frequent Taverna Newark and Capers and Lemons in Wilmington.
Unfortunately, we were disappointed, especially with some parts of our experience!
We were greeted promptly and graciously by a bright eyed hostess. Not being familiar with the layout, we were guided to a booth yin the bar area…we made reservations…
After being seated, I noticed our location was in the pathway of the restrooms, so lots of traffic…
The waitress was friendly and professional. We ordered and I stated we are not in a hurry so don’t rush our courses. Our appetizer was good and we we’re almost finished when the entrees were delivered by a runner. So much for nit rushing!
Then I noticed that my entree plate gad 2 large chips instead the rim…I questioned the runner… didn’t anyone notice the plate that should have been discarded? Nope, not even the chef. I told him to take it back to the kitchen… My new entree was delivered by a manager who just stated… here is your entree… no apology, no nothing, she turned and walked away.
Shame on management for obvious lack of training….
Almost ruined our Anniversary Dinner!!!
Was rushed out since we weren’t aware closing time was 9 pm
Had to hand salt and pepper to server when requested. That should never happen
Salad was good
Shells aurora was too saucy and almost gummy thick
Dessert was fine ice cream learned last week the others weren’t as good
Very disappointing. Returned to Taverna to celebrate birthdays after a long time away due to Covid precautions. Our waiter was new but appeared to have no one helping him. We had to remind him of our drink order twice which finally came halfway through our dinner. The food was just ok, which surprised us because we had had flavorful dinners there in the past. This time, we ordered the rigatoni (which was barely edible), the margarita pizza (which was shamefully blah), and the mushroom pizza (which did not taste fresh.) They seated our party of 3 right across from the bar, which is the loudest part of the restaurant, even though there were plenty of empty tables in quieter areas. We were there on a Monday night and had trouble finding open parking. Can’t imagine what it would be like on a week end. Not sure that we will return which is a shame because we used to really like this place.
Great service! Food was awesome’
Great food and service. The salmon was cooked perfectly and my sandwich was delicious.
Took my teenage kids who are so picky and they loved it! The food a d service were great!
The liquor drinks were ok, appetizer peppers was also ok. Salmon and salad were great. Service was great. Location and ambience are very nice for us.
Love Taverna! We go there often because the servers, food, bartenders etc...are amazing! Great place and we love the outdoor seating!
Beautiful outdoor patio dining for lunch. Diverse lunch menu with lovely salads, sandwiches and appetizers. My Shrimp Panzanella was served on a bed of arugula with generous mozarella, cherry tomatoes and onion with a delicious vinaigrette. Lunch menu more reasonably priced than dinner but a great find.
Food and service were excellent!
