Great dinners. We had enough for leftovers.we shared the artichoke and arugula appetizer. I ordered the lemon chicken w capers on linguini. My husband had the red pasta and sausage dish. Very quiet Sunday evening. Menu shorter than usual...but appropriate for the COVID times. All staff wearing masks and keeping distance from guests. Nice to not have to cook dinner for sure!

Our waitress was rude and her service was poor. Often feeling like we were bothering her when asking for necessary things like a knife in order to cut meat.

Taverna has some of the best calamari that I have ever eaten. My fiancé and I get calamari at every restaurant we go to if it is available on the menu and the calamari at this restaurant blew everyone else out of the water. Not only were the sauces they pair the calamari with excellent but the calamari itself was so flavorful. If you are a wine drinker but are horrible at pairings like myself. I would strongly recommend asking them what they recommend because they recommended this red Italian blend that paired really well with my pasta and my fiancé’s pizza. Overall this place was amazing and my fiancé and I have found our new favorite Italian spot.

We have never been disappointed! Drinks were great and the food came out piping hot! Our server, Evan, was attentive but not pushy! Highly recommend!

My husband and I went in for dinner on a Thursday evening. We were able to make our reservation on OpenTable quickly and easily. Our server was prompt and very pleasant. She repeated back to us everything we ordered, so there were no mistakes. We were checked on as needed by our server and the manager. We were given fresh silverware, plates and napkins with each course we ordered! We went heavy on the appetizers because we couldn't narrow down from the great choices. We got the veal meatballs, whipped sweet ricotta, truffle garlic bread and the fried calamari. I would go back every week and order the same thing! We shared the special for the evening, which was a, fried, I think, chicken leg with a roasted red pepper sauce, sweet potato cornbread and sautéed spinach. Perfect size to share after four appetizers. Lastly, we shared the cheesecake with the amarena cherries. Everything was so delicious and the night was just perfect!

Our server was excellent! He was knowledgeable about the menu, he made us feel welcomed but didn't overwhelm us with too many stops by the table. We sat outside during the Wednesday night Main Street event and the ambiance was great. I hope the weather and the City of Newark allows for these events well into Fall!

Lots of interesting pasta dishes. The parmesan garlic fries were a hit, as were the desserts, especially Tira Misu.

Our server, Tyler was very attentive without being annoying. The calamari was excellent, as always. My garlic fries were a tad over done. Other than that, wonderful experience.

We ordered the crispy meatball pizza, adding sausage and pepperoni to it. Expect a relatively expensive pizza, for the small size you get, but it had very good flavors. It's a thin crust, but somewhat chewy, as we prefer it. You get bread with brushetta/oil, which was okay. My vodka gimlet on the rocks was expensive, but it did taste very good, so I wasn't disappointed. Hubby specifically asked if they had sweet iced tea, and our waiter said they did; he wound up being served unsweetened iced tea with sugar packets. And the iced tea was very light, like they used one tea bag for the whole day's batch. He would have asked for a to-go cup of iced tea, but it was really terrible iced tea. I like the rustic atmosphere of the place.

I would have given a higher rating if there was more of a variety on the menu. Not only are the choices limited, but there isn't anything special to them. I am someone who goes out to eat a lot, but also cooks a lot. I feel like I could prepare 1/2 the dishes at home for much less of a cost. The service is always fantastic & the homemade sauce that comes with the bread is my favorite!

Good artichoke salad and mozzarella flatbread. Spaghetti with crushed tomatoes and basil was very good. Outdoor dining.

We went on a Monday night and it was great. Nice eating out but inside they did a
great job. Food was also above even what I have had in the past.
