A little loud and cramped. Not bad for american italian.
Good experience, really hot/humid though, we were all sweating. Food was fabulous
1st time. Busy and noisy. Food and presentation good. Go again midweek might not be so noisy.
We went here for a birthday dinner and it was incredibly loud… The wait staff was obnoxious, hovering way too much and clearing the table way too fast before we finished things…We had to stop them twice from removing something we had not finished eating.
Taverna on Knox has always been a favorite, but this location was disappointing. Also, the online menu is not accurate… We went there to get specific items that we love, and the online menu shows that they have them, but that’s not the case…The entire experience was disappointing… Definitely will stick to the other location in the future!
The noise level prevented any quality conversation at the table. We hadn’t seen our friends in a year and this was NOT the appropriate place to catch up! I would’ve given 5 stars to the food but for the specialty pizza we had as an appetizer; it was a bit salty. We had a 6 pm reservation and, as it was almost 100 degrees outside, we passed on the outside table we were given. One should not assume an outside table is preferred!!! As the night progressed, even our inside table became quite balmy. Bump up that air conditioning for your inside guests!! Finally I must say the most consistent part of our evening was the incredible service provided by our server, Francisco. He’s a keeper for sure, and an outstanding asset to your restaurant.
Absolutely authentic Italian cuisine. Will definitely be back. Loved the bottle of chianti as well. Couldnt have had a better experience!
Great food and service. Nice spot for a celebration.
First time to dine here. Enjoyed the Sunday brunch and the options available on the menu. Host met us at the door and we were seated immediately (we had a reservation). Server was friendly and helpful and asked us about beverages since we were waiting for the rest of our party to arrive. We enjoyed the Mimosas and looking over the menu. Service was prompt and attentive. Highly recommend.
Service was perfect. Staff was beyond friendly and worked hard to make everything wonderful. Quality of food was sub par. Ambience was great for a brunch. Will return for cocktails only.
Great food, excellent service, and management will bend over backwards to ensure you have a great experience. It's one of our favorite spots.
Excellent dinner, both the manager and wait staff were friendly and helpful - and the food was excellent, especially the potato soup.
Always great food and service
I really wanted to like this place, but sadly it was not to be. Had tried it twice for lunch scouting for a special family dinner and all was well. The night of the actual dinner was a disaster. I ordered the special pork belly which our waitress recommended. Arrived dry and inedible. The manger could see it was a mess and took it back with his apologies which I appreciated. Everyone else had their food and was eating so they quickly brought me lasagna which was basically three flat noodles with a bit of cheese and sauce – something you would expect from a frozen dinner. Other food was mediocre at best. Fettuccine Carbonara was dry with little sauce and noodles almost too dry to eat. Looked like it had been under the warmer for an hour. Other mains were nothing special with raviolis under filled and over cooked. Only one dinner of the 6 was thought to be acceptable.
The issue with Taverna is not the service, great actually, but the kitchen. With a packed house on a Saturday night they simply cannot keep up and the team the chef has is not up to the task. Quality is horrible and you have to ask what the chef is doing back there. The other issue is the seating. They have jammed so many tables inside that waiters and patrons cannot easily get around. This results in everyone getting bumped as people pass by. I watched another person asked to be moved for this exact reason.
My recommendation is to not try this restaurant and let’s see if they can make it in the highly competitive Plano / Legacy restaurant market. Maybe try it 6 to 12 months out.
Normally, one of our favorite restaurants. We eat there weekly. Monday night is supposed to be 1/2 price wine. Not only did Ari waiter not give us the one for half price but did not give us the detailed itemized receipt so it was difficult to see that the discount was applied we were splitting the tab equally between another couple and ourselves and did not realize we were overcharged. I am going to bring this to the attention of the management on my next visit. This is very disappointing for a normally outstanding establishment
Great experience, great food and great service. Will be coming back!
Meh’ firstly, it was about 89 degrees as they enclosed the areas I’d assume is for outdoor dining when it’s not so hot. It was as hot inside as outside.
Food was basic, nothing too special, would not survive if it were in a small town and there was not a high demand for tables.
The wait staff is probably the most forgetful I have seen in some time. Nothing like a constant reminder for things like... drinks, silverware, please take these plates, can you please bring the other part of the order.
Lastly, what Italian restaurant only has oil soaked focaccia bread in awkward 1” strips as the only bread. Overall the restaurant is a nice looking place but honestly, reserve your table early at one of the better places close by. Good thing the company I was with was fantastic.
Great service - and we usually love Taverna, but the food was not very good. The Brushetta was average ... no flavor, and the pasta was just okay. The Taverna at Knox Henderson is much better.
Always a good experience, we love it!
Love the food here!! Always have the chicken parmigiana which is not on the menu but should be!! They always find a way to make it!! Will return and on our monthly circuit!! Thanks!!
Mario was very helpful when we called to increase the size of the group and our waiter was excellent. (He had just moved back from Arizona) The food was bland and over cooked. The frito misty squib were dried out and crisp and the was double the amount of vegetables to fish. The risottos were okay but not great. The pizza was very crunchy and the dough very bland. Finally with the two toilets they really needed cleaned. I had to wait for about 5 minutes to use one as two chefs were in them when I arrived. They need more regular checking and cleaning. Overall the meal was overpriced for the experience.
Much better experience than last time. Really enjoyed all of the waiter's recommendations. The grilled octopus as an appetizer was great. I also really enjoyed my branzino fish.
Great! Good food and amazing service!
Wonderful atmosphere! Great food! Superb service!!!
Great food and great service!
Great experience, busy restaurant but planned out so it does not feel overly crowded. great food and service!
The food was way overpriced and very bland. The sauce had no taste....I had the ziti and again the sauce was bland, no taste at all. My wife had the lasagna, it had zero taste. The noodles were stacked neatly but very, very thin. We were given 3 thin slices of focaccia on a lonely bread plate.
It is a very loud restaurant so if you don't want to carry on a conversation with your guests do not eat here. I had to ask our waiter several times to repeat himself because of the noise.
Overall - if you are looking for good Italian food DO NOT EAT HERE.
Great service. Amyra (hope the spelling close :) was excellent , the perfect blend of checking in and letting us be. Wonderful food and will be back soon.
Food was very disappointing.
Everything was great!
To start, the manager put our reserved table outside, despite temps being in the 90’s and we did not request a patio table. Then we had to wait for a table indoors despite the fact that there were multiple tables available that could have accommodated our party of four. The food was mediocre at best. My ravioli was undercooked-not al dente- truly undercooked. Taverna wants to be a nice little Italian place, but it missed the mark across the board.
Saturday night dinner with friends. Our waiter was superb and the food was awesome. Got a table on the sidewalk. Great evening.
The restaurant was very loud this evening and very warm as we sat inside thinking we would be in a/c
Food was very good though.
Dinner for 2, Sat 7/28/19
My lasagne dinner was delivered to my table in middle of eating my salad. Major no-no.
So my surley waiter said he's put it under a heat lamp. Wonderful.
I feel rushed of course. So I quickly eat the salad.
The lasagna tasted leftover. This wasn't its first experience being reheated.
I've eaten here couple of times before & it was really good, including the lasagna.
Tonight they were not up to par.
Not sure if I'll return...
Service and food was spot on and better than most places in DFW. Noise level was too much though. Also obnoxious ladies wanting to sit their expensive purses in other tables chairs was a bit much. hate to see great food and service ruined by poor planned dining room (cement floors, really?) that sounded like a football game.
Great place overall! We went here to celebrate a birthday and couldn't be any happier with the food, the service, and the ambience. Fish was cooked to perfection and the pasta was delicious!
Good food. Less intimate than their Knox-Henderson location but still good. Strong wine list.
Need just a little more choices on the dinner menu
Fresh food, great service !!
It was SO LOUD, the waitress had to repeat herself 3 times!! The service was very slow, When the pizza came out, it was not fully cooked and had to be sent back! It’s hard to mess up a pizza. The special of the night was a chicken dish that was just ok, nothing special. We were disappointed overall.
Prefer a booth on the patio
