Tavern on George
The fish and chips looked delicious, so two in the party ordered it. It was very salty and soggy. The cheeseburger was cooked perfectly and was very good.
Very pleasant pre-George St theater venue for lunch. Staff was attentive and responsive. Everyone in our party enjoyed the food and the "Hot Toddy" drinks on a cold damp afternoon. Our ladies party really enjoyed this experience in New Brunswick. We would definitely return for another good time
Yummy food and great ambiance
Food was ok. Felt like food and drinks were a little pricey.
Celebrated a birthday. Party of 7. It was understaffed on that day but the food was great and the waitress was very nice. It was just very slow.
Food was ok. Service was lacking. Seemed short staffed on the wait staff side. Took a long time for the server to visit us to place our order. Received Pita Chips that came with a salad halfway through having eaten it. Had to track down the server for our check.
Honestly, it was a "so-so" overall experience. I do believe our experience would have been much better if obvious service adjustments are made in the near future.
Went for the Jazz, which was excellent, and was very pleased with overall experience. Unique, well made cocktails and specialty donuts made the evening!
Live music from Guitaro5000 was fun. He worked the crowd well.
Great meal and service. Had the Impossible Burger which was great. Also had Golden Monkey on draft. Great resurrection of Tumulty’s
Our waitress was great but u only offer waffles and donuts for dessert and their were no donuts so that left us 1 option for dessert. We went elsewhere for dessert.
The bartender was condescending when speaking with my sister about her drink which everyone at the table agreed was nasty. The same person later on made it a point to turn around and glare and roll her eyes at my sister. Perhaps a more mature staff would help.
Great food, drinks, and music. Friendly staff. Old school atmosphere with a modern twist.
Simple delish burgers, fries and wedge salad. Is our go to in New Brunswick. Quick service but not rushed.
Good choice of food. Good friendly service. We were there for pre dinner meal and not rushed. Food served on time without a wait.
Great time! Already recommended this place to other State Theatre club members!
Good beer selection but food is only OK. Service was good.
Good burger and a beer
Drinks too expensive
The service poor. The restaurant was full with only 2 wait staff working.
Great food. Slow service. Not enough servers.
Solid lunch place
We had a very good meal and experience. They did appear to be a bit understaffed on a show night. It took us a bit long for our initial drinks and appetizers.
Live music Friday evening was great, fun musicians who wanted everyone to have a good time. Service was perfect, food was good too. Atmosphere was lively, some of the old character from Tumulty’s remains but somehow looks current and updated at the same time. Downstairs looked quiet and welcoming to anyone who wanted a quieter cozy atmosphere. We will defiantly be back. Big plus having live music Friday and Saturday evenings, glad the music starts earlier rather than later.
Love the place! We’ve been there a few times and saw some bands we really like! Food is great, service is great, staff awesome!
The place was comfortable and pleasing. The food was delicious and the staff was friendly and on the ball. Everything came quickly and it was an overall wonderful evening.
The service here is always excellent!
We listen to the live music upstairs on Fridays. This time it was a lone guitarist called "Guitaro 5000". He was very good. A lot of sing-along type covers.
The have a doughnut making machine in the kitchen, so desert was a "flight" of delicious little doughnuts with various icings!
Good option for late night dining.
Glad to see the old Tumultys Pub still going. Nice beer menu. Food was good. Overall had a nice time.
The wait staff can’t do enough for you and attend to your every need. The owner Doug Schneider greets everyone and oversees the efficient and quality service. You can’t go wrong with their signature dish - Philly Porkchops or the filet mignon.
The Keith Franklin band did a great job. The room has good sound. They could use some stage lighting. The singer was fabulous and I would have liked to see her better. The crowd was very friendly. I parked in the Church St. parking deck. It was well lit. It cost $10 for about 3 hours. I will go back there again soon.
We went to see Live Jazz which is every Wednesday night. Was an absolute joyful time. The owner, Doug, is great too. Very friendly and accommodating . Service and food was good too. A must go for jazz lovers.
We went on a Wednesday which was the New Brunswick Jazz Project's night in the downstairs cellar. It was fantastic, they had a live band playing music and in between sets we ended up chatting with others about how great the music was. Also, we ordered a flight of donuts. I highly recommend the S'mores donuts and the one with bacon and caramel (although, I do not know the name of it). The nachos chips were thicker than what I normally like, but that might just be regional preference.
Also the service was amazing, from the time we were greeted at the door until we left with a "see you soon" from the bar staff, we felt welcomed and appreciated.
Nice evening - good food and very comfortable and warm setting.
I usually order burgers here which are good. My friend had one and enjoyed it. I tried something different this time--fish and chips. The fish was the greasiest I have ever seen. It was dripping in oil even after it soaked into the paper below it. I needed 3 large napkins to soak up enough of the oil to eat it and then took off most of the coating.
The salad and fries were good. I like this place for quick service when I am going to the theater near by. I will never go again unless I am in the mood for a burger. I liked it better when it was Tumultys.
A rework of Tumulty Pub which had been there for decades. Quite similar to what it had been but not quite as good a value.
went to see Paula Aferton 10/27/2018. She was great. the area she and the band had to work in was not very large for a piano drums guitar and bass player not to mention Paula . But she made it work. The server was very attentive. Iwould go back
Great food. Great service! But there was an uncontrollable party of 30 women (bachelorette party) which received a complaint from every other table. Conversation was impossible, and the owner was as apologetic as possible. But this was not a great first experience.
Tables on top Of each other and very crowded. Nachos and burgers were tasty. Bad experience with the fish and chips - my son ate it and got sick afterwards.
I love the new Tavern on George! It’s small and cozy and the food is great! But the jazz there on Weds nights is what draws me there. The New Brunswick Jazz Project has done it again - found a great place for FREE jazz!
We had a great experience - wings are some of the best I have ever had. Everything we had was good, servers were friendly and attentive. Plus we were dining after attending an event that went long and we changed our reservation twice and were accommodated both times. We will definitely be back, just not on a night they have a rock band - fortunately, we were nearly finished when the band started playing.
