Tarry Lodge Enoteca and Pizzeria - New Haven
Phenomenal food! Fantastic service - great experience overall!
Took my husband here for his birthday. It was our first time dining at tarry Lodge and we loved it. We will definitely come back again We want to sit at the chefs counter and watch everyone in action service was great our server John was spot on and the food was delicious I had the duck with the butternut squash risotto and it was fantastic my husband had the tagaletelli Bolognese and he thoroughly enjoyed that as well.
Mid week dining was most pleasant. Not crowded and efficient service. Good was superb. Had the duck breast and it was served exactly as requested.
Can’t wait to return

Frequent visitors and the Restaurant never dissapoints,
Very attentive service and good pizza.
Been there a bunch. Service not what we have come to expect. Slow and unmotivated. Host jumped in to help our struggling waitress.
Food was excellent and I am picky! The steak was fantastic and I asked for the Brussels sprouts to be prepared without honey and they were truly fantastic. Cooked perfectly!
Another memorable dining: the pasta dishes were all fantastic (Bucatini Al’amatriciana, Black Fettucine, Cacio E Pete), as well as the pork belly special. The server, Adrienne, was knowledgeable and attentive.
Will go back whenever in New Haven.
Absolutely fabulous experience. We came here the night we got engaged and then returned for an "engagement anniversary." They treated us incredibly well and made us feel truly special -- they even remembered exactly where we sat the night we got engaged. Thank you for making us feel like we're on top of the world.
Food and service are always exceptional. Pizza (Goat Cheese, pistachios and honey) is an epiphany. Spaghetti alla Carbonara made with Guanciale is as close to Rome as you'll get in the states (except that they add garlic). Eggplant and Short Rib are stand-outs. Server was prompt, polite, professional and personable. Only downside of the place is that it's small and seating is tight. That cuts both ways as we met an absolutely delightful German lady and her daughter who is attending Yale on one side, and 4 young ladies on the other side celebrating a birthday.... and taking a LOT of pictures.... no so delightful. Having said all that, go; it's worth the trip.
This has been our “go to” restaurant in New Haven for several years. It is always consistently good. The service is definitely outstanding. It is somewhat overpriced but usually worth it. New Haven is generally overpriced with Yale being there.
Our dinner was a wonderful experience. I told the restaurant beforehand that my boyfriend was celebrating his 50th birthday and they went above and beyond. The service was amazing and the food was delicious. They gave us the best table in the house! The wine was outstanding. I need more of that almond ricotta cheesecake. Thanks for a wonderful evening!
Always a great time and great food!! Love the burratta and pizza's!!
We consider ourselves Regulars here- at least once every 2 weeks- and are never disappointed.
Megan did an Excellent job as our Server.
Loved everything. First time there and will be returning and will recommend. Very glad the recommendation popped up on open table.
Had a great dinner experience with my wife, our server was great, and worked with us really well. We weren’t fluent in the menu, but she made us feel very comfortable. She helped us with allergies and explained everything without pressure.
Always love eating here. Wait staff is wonderful, and food is consistently delicious.
Delicious,!wonderul, professional service —have returned multiple time’s
Wait staff was exceptional, goat cheese, pistachio pizza was 5 stars, short ribs 3.5. Overall a good experience. Plenty of space, comfortable seating, unlike the Westport location. I would definitely recommend this Tarry Lodge location as well as the Portchester location. Never Westport.
We enjoy this place immensely!
Service from Sam was outstanding...
The dishes never disappoint either.
Love the salads and pizzas. Nice location for a business lunch!
Great food, great service. Portions were a little small for the appetizers but the food tasted outstanding. Nice wine selection. It was very busy even at 5 pm which is always a good sign of great food. We will be back!
Everything was very good!
The only problem was there wasn't a wine selection under $11 per glass, which drove the bill up considerably.
My wife and I have been enjoying the Tarry Lodge since it opened. We have been frequent diners over the years. This last visit they were definitely off their usually excellent game. We were seated promptly, but then didn’t speak to a wait staff for 20 minutes. We were never offered bread. The food was excellent, as always. Sadly, there has been a recent change in the restaurant’s corkage policy. The fee is now $40 per bottle. Previously, it had been much more reasonable.
We went to Tarry Lodge to reunite with some traveling buddies. Try pizza as an appetizer. We had the goat cheese and the burrata - both were delicious. Our server recommended a pasta/mushroom dish and it definitely lived up to it’s reputation. My husband tried the eggplant parm. It’s lighter than most but very delicious. We’ll return to Tarry Lodge soon
Top notch! The Boudreaux list is great and well priced. Mushroom pasta was exquisite and the soft serve olive oil twist ice creams are a lovely conclusion too a great meal. Service was prime. Can’t wait to go back
Good spot to get together with friends coming from different places.
We shared a tasty Margarita Pizza to start. I had the chopped romaine (no meat) salad as an entree, while one had the hangar steak and another pasta bolognese. We shared biscotti and the soft serve ice cream for dessert. It was all good.
The staff is very friendly and aims to please. Our waitress was a great balance of being on top of her game and giving us time to talk.
We like the downtown yet off Chapel St location.
We will likely meet here again.
While driving home to NY from Maine we luckily decided to stop at Tarry Lodge in New Haven. It was wonderful. Staff was pleasant, helpful and cared for our every need. We shared the goat cheese pizza it was delicious. Both of us had the eggplant parmigiana. The presentation was beautiful and the taste was out of this world. Wine was wonderful. Only problem was they didn’t have any rye whiskey. Well they did have one but it was vanilla flavored. Any serious rye drinker doesn’t want vanilla flavored rye.
Still rate it 10+
I tried to post the picture of the eggplant but a different one may show up
Great place to get together with friends for a nicer experience. We did the prefix menu. Get the eggplant parm, trust me!
Went for my birthday and I had a wonderful time. I can’t wait to come back.
Adrian is an awesome server and the food was great as usual. Salad with the Salumi and the hanger steak cooked perfect medium rare. Great evening.Don't hesitate to dine here.
This was a second visit to Tarry Lodge. The first experience was completely extraordinary, the second a little less so. The service was flawless both times, and my wife's branzino was rave worthy both times. The duck breast i had on my first visit was the best i've ever eaten. The pork chop Milanese I ordered on visit two looked amazing but needed just a touch of salt and it was a little tough. It was very good still but not great. We certainly will go back again and bring friends.
Especially attentive service; excellent food. Would recommend this restaurant with no reservations.
Another excellent experience at Tarry Lodge. It was the request from my wife for her birthday and it did not disappoint!
Great evening. Service was excellent. Appetizers- burrata and octopus were great. I had the pasta with mushrooms- excellent. Eggplant Parm equally as great. Really enjoyed the Desserts - ice cream and cheesecake. The server was on top of everything.
Excellent as usual !
The food was amazing from the appetizers to the dessert and their service was fantastic. We will definitely be back to try other dishes.
Tarry Lodge was an excellent option for my birthday dinner! The food was delicious, especially the seasonal squash & ricotta appetizer. Our server was fantastic, guiding us through dinner options and always making sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a great dinner out!
After ditching a wait for Pepe’s we came to Tarry Lodge and I am so happy that we did!!! Overall we had an exceptional experience from food — burrata and prosciutto pizza, mushroom pasta — to our service. Absolutely can’t wait to return!!!
Dinner was delicious (eggplant part) and so was the gorgonzola salad. Salad, entree, and dessert for $39 (the special) was not really a special, as purchasing these items separately would have been about the same price. If you opted for some of the other entrees, you would have overpaid with the special. But food and the waiter were great.
