Very nice dining experience with my wife as we loved the dark but vibrant atmosphere!
Antonio was awesome. We will definitely be returning.
I have been to every Tao ! And Chicago was the only one I had not visited yet! The food was amazing! The staff were very friendly and so nice ! Chicago has a vibe unmatched! We truly enjoyed our selves! A special thanks to the hostess who took us way before our reservation time. Couldn’t thank Tao enough for the great food , drinks and cool vibes!
The best dinning experience I ever had. I've dinned all over the world and the customer service, temperature of the food, the taste of the food, the sushi, appetizers and entree's were all remarkable. I'm excited to dine again soon!
Very impressive visual experience
Food was great and our waitress was very nice! But we waited 50 minutes to be seated and we had a 7:30 reservation. That’s enough to make me not go back. But still a cool “experience”.
Amazing birthday experience! If you’re looking for something under $100 I’d suggest another place, it if you’re trying to get your moneys worth, I think this is the place to be!
Horrible experience they would not even let us finish eating: Since we arrived at the place, the server (I don't knot her name) was rushing us into ordering our food and appetizers and we kind of wanted to have a drink first while we decided what to order, but she was coming over our table every few minutes just rushing us to get our food ordered, when we finally ordered and the food arrived and it was very good but the server started to be all over us on picking up the plates, I could not even finish my dish because they all were, once again, rushing us into cleaning our table. It was so rude, the hole time, I could not even finish eating my dish, they just wanted to bill us and leave. I have never been so mistreat in my hole life. Totally not worth it, for the price we paid, we at least could expect some respect... they manager came over and apologize because he noted the situation, he even offer us free drink at the lounge but I honestly feel they were overbooked and they just needed our table, I did not stay on that place were we did not feel welcome it all, we would not recommend this place to anyone and I will definitely wont come back
Great atmosphere with really unusual decor and venue. DJ in dining area added to atmosphere but made it somewhat noisy for having conversation over dinner. Took 3 requests just to get water. Food was truly dreadful and not what we had been expecting - really just mass produced flavorless offerings. Nice venue but shame about the below par food for a $100 meal per head including a couple of drinks.
Went there for my wife’s birthday. It was perfect - lots of options for all types of diets.
I took a few clients here for a business meal. They loved the atmosphere, music and food. The ladies at the host stand were very accommodating to my multiple reservation time changes. The TAO Host team never disappoints. Harrison always makes you feel like you’re the only customer in the restaurant. I forgot our servers name, but she was very thorough as well. Thank you all for always heightening the customer experience.
I love everything about Tao. No other words.
Server was terrible. Took forever to come greet us and didn’t get the memo that we were celebrating a birthday and brought the check right after clearing our dinner plates.
Food is good, keep in mind though it’s upscale Asian food. However, our waiter pretty much judged us for not ordering all of the expensive items on the menu, never came back to ask us if we would like any more drinks. Literally only came to take our order and then give us the bill.
I had never before visited Tao at any of its locations so this was my first experience. I was in Chicago for the weekend with a few friends and we made sure to reserve Tao a few weeks in advance because we really wanted to check it out. Our reservations were at 9 but we weren’t seated until about 20 mins after which sucked, but it was a Saturday night so we understood. We fell in love with the way the restaurant looked and it’s setup. The ambiance, the decor, and the overall vibe is amazing. The food and the service were not on the same level though. We ordered the orange chicken, veg. Fried rice and noodles and sushi and I can honestly say I would never go back for the food. Over-priced and not very good. The service was just okay, the waiter didn’t come around often but was nice. My experience wasn’t bad, and I would def go back for a drink and maybe an app because of how beautiful it is, and I have a feeling the way the restaurant looks is the only thing that really brings anyone back.
This is definitely a venue for the younger crowd. The noise level is extreme and the seating is uncomfortably close. Service seemed rushed and uninformed. The food appeared so fast, we had no time to enjoy our drinks. Everything is obviously preprepared. The food reminded us of Applebees. We will not be returning.
Wow! Tao Chicago went above and beyond to make our birthday dinner so special ! I just made notes in my reservation on OpenTable and they went above my asks to deliver. To top it off, everything we ordered was tasteful, clean and amazing ! Felt like we ordered soo much and our bill wasn’t even bad for the service and accommodations we received. Jessica was our waitress and was wonderful!
An amazing restaurant. While visiting Chicago we made a reservation to celebrate my husbands birthday.
The food was delicious!!! The service was spectacular. Fantastic place to relax and enjoy incredible cuisine.
The most remarkable Chinese food I have had in a long time. We enjoyed the lobster and shrimp spring rolls, lobster fried rice and the salmon entree. Each dish shine in their own way. I could have gone the next night too, if I were staying. Our server was not the best, but all the managers were super polite, professional and friendly. I would definitely return.
The place and interior is pretty. We love the decor. Everything was going good. Our server was slow and forgot to take our order. She took forever to check up on us. After we got our food she came to us more then before we got our food, which is when we don’t really need her. Otherwise, the experience was good it would’ve been great if the service was better.
Great experience! Amazing staff
Very nice restaurant
Lot was quite good experience
Great service and food!
What a wonderful experience. We had dined numerous times at the Tao in NYC - this Chicago version surpassed its siblings in NYC. Thank you for all the staff for such a great dining experience.
Disappointed there was no shabu shabu like they have at Tao New York!
The waiter messed up our order twice then acted like he was irritated at us when he’s the one that messed up prices for drinks at bar we’re $4 cheaper than at the table. Very difficult to get a waiters attention. Not impressed. Will not go back
Excellent place for a special night out. Tao features a beautiful ambiance, great for taking pictures to remember the night. Food and drinks are very good. This is a nice alternative to a high end steak place, so expect your bill to be similar.
Had a great experience for my birthday dinner at Tao Chicago! I really enjoyed the ambiance and energy, and loved looking at all the incredible decor. The food was delicious, and we sampled several small plates and dishes. We finished the meal with the giant fortune cookie, with special rainbow glaze for Pride month that made my heart happy. In addition to being stunning it was really tasty, a good balance in both flavor and texture. The service was also amazing, everyone who came to our table was kind and helpful and lovely. Great experience all in all!
Entered with high expectations. Left with the expectations blown away. It was an AMAZING experience.
Lobster fried rice is a must. great for groups, its loud so not a good pick for an intimate dinner
We good food thought it should have been better. But the over all experience I cannot complain
It took over 30 minutes to be seated after my entire party arrived, which was over 45 minutes after my reservation! Overall it was extremely loud in the dining area, the waiter had to yell so we could hear her. Food and service was good.
Everything was extraordinary- the food is of the highest quality- exceeded expectations.
Birthday Celebration. Everything was WONDERFUL!!!
This is the third Tao I have been to after NYC and LV. Chicago was just as good if not better.
The food was outstanding. The service was poor. We were celebrating a special occasion and other than the hostess acknowledging it on our reservation, there was nothing special about the service experience. We got a small table in the middle of the room and a less than attentive waiter. (Ricardo). We were glad the quality of the food overcame the lack of attention and service.
Great ambiance and upscale atmosphere. You feel like a celebrity walking around with a mature crowd.
The food and ambiance is worth the money. The service was a little off but we had a fabulous time so it didn't impact our visit.
