Fabulous food, relaxed atmosphere, a gem down south
Love Chef's Choice on a Monday night - great value and always great food.
Decided to order a liqueur to have with my dessert.......a little tip for staff: if you have run out of the chosen drink, check with the customer if they would like an alternative, don't just replace it something else. I ended up with something completely different in style to what I ordered. We sorted it out, but I should have been told my order wasn't available and asked if I would like to order something else.
We love the Monday night chef's special - always something different and absolutely delicious!
Fantastic as usual. Wonderful for gluten free people as only one dish wasn’t suitable!
Great to be able to have shared plates. Chef even had a word with us. Thoroughly enjoyable experience.
Our party of four shared the appetisers and followed that with the shared slow cooked lamb with all three of the sides - food was really delicious and my mocktail (not drinking at the moment) was really something special. Bill was $50 each including tip so we were very impressed.
We visited on the Monday locals night dinner. It was $55 per person for a fixed 3 course meal and a glass of wine. The hosts had remembered some disliked food of one of us and kindly amended the order. We had a seafood chowder, with a generous serve of local fish accompanied by wholemeal, sour dough bread. Our main was a medium rare beef and mustard, perfectly cooked, accompanied with a lettuce, rocket and pear salad; and sweet potato courgettes. We enjoyed a dry Italian white wine and a Spanish Tempranillo. Beautiful home made chocolate and banana ice cream, with dried raspberry bits. Great meal; lovely atmosphere and very good value.
Innovative menu with a well-balanced and interesting chef's selection on Monday evening. Somewhat crowded, but good value in all respects.
Every dish was absolutely divine. The best dumplings I have had. Relaxed yet formal dining area.
I make a special trip down the south coast every few years to eat at Tallwood. It's a fantastic, creative, humble restaurant. The food is always interesting, with the talent of the chefs really shining through. I recommend this to anyone heading to the coast!
Second time we've been, first as a party of four including a professional chef keen to see whether the hype was justified, the second as a couple. Have to say it was better hands down last November - the menu had a better balance to it, the service was laid back yet still attentive, the atmosphere relaxed. This time around the air was frantic, the menu not as well rounded or appealing, and the service a mix of the offhand and the familiar, even though it's hard to actually make a negative comment on that side. Maybe we caught them on a bad night second time around. On balance I'd still say you should try Tallwood, but maybe ask for the later sitting so you don't feel you're being rushed to eat and go...
Tallwood ticks all the boxes. Every dish was amazing, each of the 6 of us had a different favourite for very good reason - they were so delicious and full of flavour. Highly recommend
We had the Chefs Choice, Monday evening menu. Entree of ceviche kingfish (with interesting flavour combinations) was sensational, as was the main fillet of beef with some great sides. Dessert was a meringue-based number, which was nice but the filling was just a bit too sweet for my taste. Service was great, as was the wine list. Overall, Tallwood continues its reputation as one of the best eateries on the south coast.
meal was good and service was great. It was just a bit cold in the restaurant
What a wonderful way to celebrate a birthday with your husband. We are so blessed to have this wonderful resturant as part of our community. A special night out.
Went for Mothers Day and had the Mothers Day menu. The food was spectacular and a wonderful time was had by all of us.
Great food beautifully presented and flavoured. Courses are enabled to be shared which makes it easy to enjoy the range of gorgeous dishes across the menu. Worth the drive as we were staying at Callala Bay
Great return visit after three years and although it’s a fairly restricted menu the quality outweighs the quantity! Delicious cuttlefish skewers were my pick of the night with friendly service and great background music ! Great dining experience 👍
Tallwood at any time is our favourite restaurant friendly staff great food and a wonderful atmosphere
Tallwood has been reliably fantastic on every visit. The food has a wow factor that delights everyone I’ve taken with me. I enjoy the ambience of the venue and my poor hearing is catered for when I ask for help so I can hear what is being said at my table.
Always very good. Food is tasty and imaginative. Friendly and efficient service.
Every dish we had was excellent. Chicken, Waygu steak, dumplings, duck legs, and cuttlefish
The food here is really really good. Everything we ate was delicious and nicely presented. It is pretty expensive for Mollymook but it's so good it's worth it.
Eating at Tallwood was one of the highlights of our trip to Mollymook. The menu is interesting and all our choices were spectacular. See shared the Tuna Sashimi to start then shared the Lamb with 3 (yes three!!) veggie sides for the main course. The lamb was the best I've ever eaten - slow cooked, fall apart and tasty. The vegetable sides are a main attraction in themselves. This would be such a great restaurant to come to with 4-6 people because then you could choose more variety as the portions were extremely generous. Our waitress was new and very pleasant. Only slight downside was that the main course took a really long time to arrive (about 45 minutes). A visit to Tallwood is a must if you're in the area. Loved it.
Delicious food, lovely local art and accommodating wait staff 👌
Great for sharing. The pork buns were the highlight. Staff were excellent and accommodated dietary requirements very well.
This is a wonderful local gem set in the little shops in Mollymook. The food was interesting and tasty. The night was cooler than had been previously and we sat under an air conditioner being blasted by cold air. Having asked for the air to be adjusted we eventually succumbed to getting coats from the car.
Exquisite food, great service and it’s fantastic to get new flavour combinations. We loooovvveeed the Moroccan Chicken with side order of potatoes (juicy with crisp skin, perfect balance of spices and roasted lemon - made my tastebuds sing - pure joy). The toppings on the potatoes are fantastic. Hubbie had the wagyu with scallops / mushrooms and he loved it. But save room for the desserts. The peach sorbet with lemon thyme meringue and champagne foam was delightful. Also the barley malt red velvet cheesecake was equally amazing. Be sure to book ahead and ask to sit inside ( outside is more casual with stools for seating). Treat yourself to this brilliant gastronomic experience in Mollymook. 10/10 from us.
Loved the food - always do! Favourite local restaurant hands down.
I did miss seeing the taro chips on the menu and although the food was as good as ever, I think I prefer having smaller sized mains on offer so we could share two rather than one.
Minor details - everything was beautiful!
Lovely food and wine. Good service. Just a bit lacking in atmosphere.
Everything we had was delicious, just unfortunate for me that with an allergy to fresh coriander there were a number of items I was unable to eat. However, the staff were fantastic and made sure that I was fully aware of those foods I could enjoy. THe raw fish of the day was tuna and most enjoyable. Most of the dishes are share plates, so my poor husband was stuck with the coriander free dishes, which was a shame. The teriyaki skewers, the oysters and the wagu beef were all delicious.
The food, expertise of the staff and the experience was exactly what we all wanted. The menu is varied, quite different and the portions were appropriate. Thank you - we all loved it and will be back.
The food was quite simple, tomato and haloumi salad for starters, roast lamb with veggies for a main and berry sorbet for dessert. The corkage was expensive at $20 though. My wife enjoyed the meal.
Service was spot on, food was excellent. There was one of us that were vegan and it was absolutely no problem to them. Even in the share plates they adjusted it so 1 serve was vegan. I would definitely go back.
The food was delicious and the service was also very good
Great atmosphere and food. Love the share platters - this time my favourite was the local swordfish.
Brilliant food and service in great surroundings. Definitely worth more visits!
Really loved the shared plates we ordered - the mussels, duck and heirloom tomato salad were to die for.
Interesting and delicious food - we especially loved the beetroot tarte tatin. Comfortable and attractive setting, slightly noisy.
Visited Tallwood Eatery on Monday evening for their Chef's choice menu. What an absolute delight. Food was fantastic. A real taste treat. Catering well for meat eater and vego. Will definitely dine at Tallwood when we are next in Mollymook.
We enjoyed a great dinner at Tallwood with my family to celebrate my birthday. The food is always interesting with a good range of fresh ingredients and variety of dishes. We particularly like the ability to share plates so that everyone can have a taste. Highly recommend.
