Tallwood is a comfortable and relaxed dining experience where you get to share great food, and we get to bring to life our belief in sustainable practices and community mindfulness.
The south coast has an abundance of amazing produce and strong harmonious relationships with local farmers ensures we keep the distance from paddock to plate to a minimum. My team and I work in partnership with our local suppliers and this is reflected in our seasonally changing menu.
Our food allows you to sample a little of what the south coast has to offer. Sit back, relax, grab a drink and let our staff guide you through our menu. If you can’t choose let us do the work for you.
Share, laugh, enjoy

Love the way they combine ingredients to create interesting textures and tastes on the palate. Menu changes regularly but there are also much loved favourites usually available.
Friendly staff and a great ambience with regular changes to artwork on the walls for sale to make the environment even more interesting.
This restaurant is outstanding in so many ways.Upon entering you will notice the ambient atmosphere tastefully decorated with exquisite art from local artists.Greeted by friendly staff with a smile and promptly shown to a table of our choice. We opted for the chefs suggestions for the evening and were not disappointed.Every morsel was exquisite and beautifully presented.I honestly don't think I have tasted better anywhere.Would definitely recommend to friends and family and looking forward to my next visit.Thank you so much to the chef and staff for making our experience so enjoyable.
Tallwood was a wonderful find at the bottom of our holiday street. Recommended by our taxi driver, we loved the superb and great gluten free service.
Have been hearing good things about Tallwood now for a couple of years .We finally had a chance to have an evening meal midweek and I have to say it exceeded our expectations. Service was excellent yet still friendly and relaxed . The chefs have absolutely nailed it and we came away feeling like we'd had a sensory experience rather than just a nice meal . Can't wait to get back to taste other offerings and will be telling the world !!!!
Really happy with our dinner here. Everything was great but the kangaroo tail was spectacular. Would happily eat here again.
Great food , service and value . Couldn’t ask for more really . Thanks Tallwood !
Tallwood is consistent in delighting my palate. I like the sharing of food in collaborative deliciousness. I notice that this sharing challenges some but I have never yet seen those challenged leave hungry. And everybody, including my gluten free friend and my lactose intolerant friend, have been able to join in the delight. So good to achieve such variety with a wonderful local sourcing penchant. I will keep coming back. No wonder Tallwood is always full of people.
Had a great evening and had the $75 pp shared meal but, really felt the last dish the sweat could have been one each, apart from this small comment it was great food ,service and a lovely experience
We have eaten at Tallwoods many times and thought, on our last visit, that the food was the best we'd enjoyed there.
We sat at a bench in front of the kitchen which gave us room to spread plates for sharing - an improvement on eating at the smaller tables.
Thank you; we'll return and will continue to recommend.
Every mouthful was an experience. Wow! I loved that the produce was obtained locally. It was exquisitely fresh....the yellow fin tuna sashimi 😍....kangaroo tail stew...I want more!
Small but really creative and refined dishes. Didn't always know what to expect when we for every dish but we were always positively surprised. You do need a few shared plates before you've had enough. Lovely staff and very good service. Was a bit chilly when we entered.
The food is very creative and interesting and the share plates approach is conducive to trying a number and variety and flavours.
Very nice degustation dinner based on seasonal foods, service was good, all staff very polite
Lovely food - excellent locals night menu & delightful staff
Service was abysmal - almost rude and close to incompetent. Food was good. The service has been poor on last 2 occasions since Clayton left. Matt needs to pay attention to service and train their staff! Possibly the last time we will patronise Tallwoods. Very disappointing really, it could be so much better with a little effort and training of serving staff.
Thank you for an enjoyable evening with friendly staff and good food. We have often recommended Tallwoods and will continue to do so. We chose Tallwoods for a catered function a couple of years ago and were delighted with the result.
Our difficulty on Saturday was a cold draught from the front door which blew uncomfortably on us each time patrons arrived or left.
Most restaurants have a high level of noise - many people are used to this and do not mind but for those with hearing loss assisted by a hearing device this is torture. (A new cafe restaurant in Canberra has successfully addressed this with a layer of sound absorbing foam under each table and chair - possibly a low cost option)
Best wishes and thanks,
Tall wood Eatery is so creative in delivery! We have eaten there 3 times and every time it is amazing! The food is outstanding in flavour and presentation. The cost is fair for the experience. I’m only sorry we don’t live closer as it would be our regular!
Friendly service and nice atmosphere. Bit pricey for the meal sizes and not a big range of choice.
Superb food and lovely ambience.
Scallops as part of the share starter plate were melt in your mouth.
Lamb shoulder fell apart on carving.
Coconut foam in one dessert and the chocolate and salted caramel in another dessert were divine.
Whilst visiting Mollymook, we were very lucky to get a booking on ‘locals night’ - a 3 course meal with a glass of wine for $55! Exquisite flavours, incredibly tender & moist Peking chicken, everything was delicious! Highly recommend Tallwood. The staff were lovely too! Plus there were sound baffles on the roof! You could hear conversation easily - makes for a very pleasant dining experience.
Lovely food, especially like the concept of share plates. Good wine list and a gorgeous dessert. Excellent value for money.
My friends are very experienced and discerning diners who seek out imaginative menus and good quality food. They were very impressed with Tallwood. We chose the chef's tasting menu and were delighted by the variety and the quality of the dishes we received. The quantities were generous and the selections delicious. The young wait staff were pleasant, knowledgeable and efficient and the timing of the dishes we received was perfect. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Tallwood and would recommend the restaurant to anyone wanting a top dining experience.
My husband and I are regulars at Tallwood so it was an easy decision to book for a family dinner, dishes are creative and delicious, wine list is well considered, service is attentive and friendly and a lovely warm atmosphere.
Excellent food and wine. First class service cheerful and attentive. A great place to explore interesting small share plate food.
The food and ambience was lovely,
Though some of my drink order kept being forgotten, and a component to my main meal was missing, as two were ordered and they weren’t the same which was disappointing. But they were delicious, could be slightly bigger portions.
But we will be back.
Ella is excellent.
Food was fantastic as was the service. Highly recommend eating here.
We visited last year and loved it and took my wife's parents last Monday (tellin them it was better than Bannisters where we were staying) but we booked online, so did not know until we got there, that it was a Monday night chefs set menu.
Unfortunately the pork was tough and too tough for our parents, but the other dishes were excellent and the service fantastic.
The food served as share plates is delicious and creative. Excellent friendly staff and very nice wine to compliment the meal.
The pressure was on. Find a memorable dining experience in the Ulladulla area for my partner's birthday. Having no idea, as I'm from Sydney, I asked a friend who is familiar with the area. Tallwood not only came highly recommended but was THE place – 'not to miss', 'to include on your bucket list', 'to visit every time'. / I booked immediately. / Our booking was for outdoor seating – unfortunately, the weather turned out to be a hellish inferno of heat and wind. The restaurant contacted ME to recommend we change our booking to inside – when does this EVER happen?! The first indication that we were really going to enjoy this place. Or at least the staff. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth, seated immediately and attended to. The menu explained, as was the pace – a staggered and shared experience to allow for a mutual enjoyment of each dish. / Starter: Clyde River Oysters 1/2 dozen / From the 'light options' menu we shared: • local raw fish, daily special (was Tuna sashimi style) • portuguese fish cakes, saffron mayonaise • hervey bay scallops, miso butter, daikon pickle • bean tlacoyos, feta, cactus, pickles, corn, avocado • prosciutto, guindilla, peach / From the 'more substantial' menu we shared: crispy prawns, green mango, fragrant herbs, sechuan and tamarind caramel / Wine choice: Stella Bella (Cab, Merlot) / Desert: Chocolate 3 ways with honeycomb and merangue / As promised, the food came staggered to perfection. Just as you finished one mouthwatering dish and contemplated it for a bit, the next appeared. Each building on expectation. The food was fresh and flavorful. Full of texture. Each mouthful a delight. The presentation was beautiful. The wine, outstanding. If you're a chocolate lover, the dessert was to die for. Admittedly, we could have ordered two fewer dishes from the light menu and still have been satisfied. / Total bill was shocking - shockingly fair! / I cannot recommend this place highly enough.
We had a family dinner - 3 generations, and we all enjoyed great food and friendly service.
The ragu was outstanding. Great value.
This restaurants never fails to please our pallet. Great staff food and vibe.
Caters well for those with an adventurous palette, which unfortunately counts me out. Wife loved it.
This place encourages sharing of dishes which allows you to sample many of their creative dishes.
Staff were very accommodating to the comfort of their guests.
Be prepared to bring lots of $$.
The food was amazing and the service fabulous !! This restaurant should get a hat !! Immediately !!!!
Excellent dinner. Great fresh seafood. Creative memu. Excellent affordable wine list. Lovely staff. A real hidden treat.
The service we received was outstanding and coupled with the delicious meals made for a very enjoyable evening. We were all impressed . The corkage fee for byo was a little outrageous though. Would highly recommend to other friends coming to visit.
I love this place. The food was delicious and creative. The service was lovely, professional but not arrogant. We enjoyed our whole night from start to finish. My duck was the dish of the night, Absolutely delicious and the balance of flavours were spot on. Well done Tallwood team, you nailed it!
Dined on Monday “chefs choice” so it is a set menu. Great value for money and includes a glass of wine. Despite the set menu it catered well for food allergies.
Really enjoyed the food here. Good service.
Went back again the next night.
Such an amazing eating experience. The food was all beautifully presented with original and interesting combinations of flavours and cultural influences. I highly recommend their oysters with smoked shallot dressing - incredible flavour! The steak was cooked to perfection, beautiful and charred out the outside but melted in your mouth! such a lovely experience visiting Tallwood - a definite must among many great new fine dining restaurants on the South Coast
