Tallwood was created from the love of flavoursome food, sharing good times with friends and family and having a sneaky drink or two.

Tallwood is a comfortable and relaxed dining experience where you get to share great food, and we get to bring to life our belief in sustainable practices and community mindfulness.

The south coast has an abundance of amazing produce and strong harmonious relationships with local farmers ensures we keep the distance from paddock to plate to a minimum. My team and I work in partnership with our local suppliers and this is reflected in our seasonally changing menu.

Our food allows you to sample a little of what the south coast has to offer. Sit back, relax, grab a drink and let our staff guide you through our menu. If you can’t choose let us do the work for you.
Share, laugh, enjoy

We enjoyed our dining experience immensely. The atmosphere was modern and warm and we were looked after without feeling pressured. We appreciated the opportunity to share dishes, no food envy! The goat cheese agnolotti was the stand out dish for the share plates. There was a tie between the swordfish and the duck for the larger platters. We will be back and because the dishes are seasonal and sourced as much as possible locally we are anticipating new food adventures. Thank you for a memorable night out.

We had the Monday Chef's Special. All dishes I wouldn't usually pick so it made an interesting meal. Duck ham, beef ragu with gnocchi and a creme caramel. All of it was fantastic, however I would have preferred if we were allowed to have the sides without so much sauce/dressing. Kinda ruined those for me. Definitely worth trying though. I bet their regular menu items are amazing!

Our favourite restaurant. We are whole food plant based (kinda like vegan) and we requested vegan when we made our booking. The chefs provided us with a 5-course vegan feast - so many beautiful ingredients and amazing flavours. Staff were so warm and helpful - felt very welcomed. This restaurant stands out above all the rest as something very special.

Good food and service. A friend had recommended the restaurant after she attended a couple of years ago. This was the first opportunity we had to visit. Was disappointed the sample menu that we had reviewed online was not available on the evening we attended. Share plates instead. Chose the restaurant due to its location to the accommodation we were staying in.

We went with our 5.5 mth old child, and it could not have been better. Staff were professional, yet relaxed and friendly and they were very accommodating for our needs. Our daughter had fallen asleep and they were very amenable to keeping the outside area quiet so she could rest. Aside from that, the food was flippin' fantastic. The Brussels sprouts and the brisket being the outstanding dishes, along with the pork bun entree. Would highly recommend this place to anyone.

DELICIOUS! We dined on the Monday Night Special for $55pp. Such fantastic value as there was so much great food and a delicious glass of wine included. They were also super kind and catered for my annoying food allergy.

Consistently delicious, Tallwood's food always tastes like it's made from the heart. The freshness, sourced from local providers where possible, always shows and the combinations of ingredients that blend so effortlessly is a testament to Tallwood chefs' expertise.

This is the second time in the last few months that I have taken a friend from Sydney to Tallwood for dinner. We are regular diners there and always enjoy our meals. Matthew and his fellow chefs are very creative, and always let the natural flavours speak. The food is always fresh and healthy tasting, always different and interesting. The menu changes regularly, the staff are friendly and efficient, and the wine list quite extensive.

And the verdict of the friends from Sydney? Exactly the same response from both. One guest chose from the menu, while the other chose the “ let the chef feed you” option. Both ladies said that the meal they had at Tallwood was the best meal they had ever had. They are Bothwell travelled ladies who enjoy fine dining. I think they liked it!

Love the way they combine ingredients to create interesting textures and tastes on the palate. Menu changes regularly but there are also much loved favourites usually available.
Friendly staff and a great ambience with regular changes to artwork on the walls for sale to make the environment even more interesting.

Have been hearing good things about Tallwood now for a couple of years .We finally had a chance to have an evening meal midweek and I have to say it exceeded our expectations. Service was excellent yet still friendly and relaxed . The chefs have absolutely nailed it and we came away feeling like we'd had a sensory experience rather than just a nice meal . Can't wait to get back to taste other offerings and will be telling the world !!!!

Tallwood is consistent in delighting my palate. I like the sharing of food in collaborative deliciousness. I notice that this sharing challenges some but I have never yet seen those challenged leave hungry. And everybody, including my gluten free friend and my lactose intolerant friend, have been able to join in the delight. So good to achieve such variety with a wonderful local sourcing penchant. I will keep coming back. No wonder Tallwood is always full of people.

We have eaten at Tallwoods many times and thought, on our last visit, that the food was the best we'd enjoyed there.

We sat at a bench in front of the kitchen which gave us room to spread plates for sharing - an improvement on eating at the smaller tables.

Thank you; we'll return and will continue to recommend.

Small but really creative and refined dishes. Didn't always know what to expect when we for every dish but we were always positively surprised. You do need a few shared plates before you've had enough. Lovely staff and very good service. Was a bit chilly when we entered.

Service was abysmal - almost rude and close to incompetent. Food was good. The service has been poor on last 2 occasions since Clayton left. Matt needs to pay attention to service and train their staff! Possibly the last time we will patronise Tallwoods. Very disappointing really, it could be so much better with a little effort and training of serving staff.

Thank you for an enjoyable evening with friendly staff and good food. We have often recommended Tallwoods and will continue to do so. We chose Tallwoods for a catered function a couple of years ago and were delighted with the result.

Our difficulty on Saturday was a cold draught from the front door which blew uncomfortably on us each time patrons arrived or left.

Most restaurants have a high level of noise - many people are used to this and do not mind but for those with hearing loss assisted by a hearing device this is torture. (A new cafe restaurant in Canberra has successfully addressed this with a layer of sound absorbing foam under each table and chair - possibly a low cost option)

Best wishes and thanks,

Jane Smyth

Superb food and lovely ambience.
Scallops as part of the share starter plate were melt in your mouth.
Lamb shoulder fell apart on carving.
Coconut foam in one dessert and the chocolate and salted caramel in another dessert were divine.

Whilst visiting Mollymook, we were very lucky to get a booking on ‘locals night’ - a 3 course meal with a glass of wine for $55! Exquisite flavours, incredibly tender & moist Peking chicken, everything was delicious! Highly recommend Tallwood. The staff were lovely too! Plus there were sound baffles on the roof! You could hear conversation easily - makes for a very pleasant dining experience.
