Great food, great wine, great value. Just need more staff to speed up service
We enjoyed a Saturday night anniversary meal and really enjoyed it.
The Good:- Food Quality, Service, Location.
Improvements:- Less side dishes to start, bring the meat and seafood on earlier.
Other:- It was surprising quiet for a Saturday night, we prefer a more buoyant atmosphere.
On valentines day after 40min of waiting we decided to leave without getting a single course. The waiters were constantly running around and food was being served to the wrong table. It was a night to forget to be honest.
Waited for an hr for the first entree and drinks. We decided to leave as we didnt know how long it was going to take to receive the rest of our food. Definitely ruined our valentines dinner.
We went here for Valentines. Ordered the buffet for $100 pp. The food took 30 mins to come out and it took 20 mins for raw meat to come out when we re-ordered. Food was very average. It took so long that we just wanted to go home because we were tired. The quality has dropped since the last time we were here. Multiple couples walked out as the service time was extremely slow. People who had bookings were made to wait. It was a very disappointing dinner.
Don’t order the seafood. We sent it back. Meat dishes were good though. Overall ok.
Thank you once again for the excellent lunch experience! We will be returning!
Thank you, everything was perfect!! We will be back!
We went to Takumi for the first time in 4 months. We realised that the quality of BBQ meat has lowered a lot. We normally do not want to waste food so we had to force ourselves to finish pork and this was difficult as the meat was not soft and didn't taste fresh. Maybe they changed the meat supplier?
Only the great thing was the service. The staff were friendly and efficient.
Wagyu was absolutely delicious! Melt in your mouth- the best we’ve ever had.
Ordinary food. Not even the rice was OK. Little authenticity. No Japanese pickles!
Yakiniku absolutely outstanding, an amazing array of cuts of beef which is locally sourced, a rare thing in Australia. Our vegetarian daughter was also well catered for. Exceptional wine list which is also good value. Albert is a very good and knowledgeable host, all in all a lovely evening out.
Small portion, moderate cooking, lack of service, good ventilation
I always enjoy my lunch time visit but this time I decided to order to beef yakiniku instead of the salmon which I found to be quite tough and not very nice to eat. This was alittle disappointing this time.
Otherwise it is a great gem and it had delicious matcha ice cream as well.
Always loved the quality of this place, very highly recommended. We always had the BBQ but wanted to change it up a bit so we ended up having the shabu shabu and it was delicious! Very good quality food, well worth the money. Customer service was great too!
Food was good (especially the ice cream!) The BBQs sucked the smoke from the bottom so you didn't get it wafting about your face. It was a good place for a comfortable get together, I felt relaxed and I really enjoyed myself. Largest table seats 8 so expect to be split up if you're in a bigger group which was fair enough. But what I loved the most was the service! The staff were really friendly, so so helpful and patient (we were a big group).
Your waitress was very helpful and pleasant. Food arrived promptly. Your venue is very customer friendly in that noise levels were sufficiently low for great conversation among patrons.
Forget what you know about Japanese Yakiniku in Melbourne! This restaurant serves the best quality wagyu beef I’ve ever had in Melbourne! The premium meat selection is off the charts! Oyster blade, porterhouse, eye fillet, and scotch fillet - OMG!
We were asked to try a small portion of the regular beef and then the premium to compare the difference because we didn’t know what to select. There is a huge huge difference in taste, texture, juiciness, tenderness, and flavour. Surprisingly, the price for the premium is so reasonable and affordable!
Service was great, drinks were awesome, the meat...seriously the best in Melbourne! Coming back next week! The porterhouse and scotch fillet steak are a must!
Thanks heaps Takumi team!!!
My friends and I had dinner here on a Sunday evening were slightly disappointed with our time there.
- Underserviced and slow - took ages to get waiter's attention, and our table was not completely cleared between dishes and when we finished our last meal.
- There was also a funky smell around our table.
- BBQ meats were delicious but otherwise everything else was just okay.
The food portion is way too small and very pricey. We ordered a combination of premium beef but the quality was pretty bad. Great customer service though.
Fantastic food, lovely restaurant & great service!!
Food and service were outstanding!
We had a VERY indulgent evening but it was worth every dollar.
Huge thanks to the team who were on that night for being so friendly and accommodating :)
Food is good and plenty of it, but $9.50 each for a small draft beer is way over the top. Price should be displayed on advert so people are aware before ordering.
