Our location in the heart of South Bank makes Tai Tai one of Brisbane’s most popular restaurants to dine at before a film, show at QPAC or conference at Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre. We welcome and encourage walk-ins, however limited number of tables are available to book in advance.
Food at Tai Tai is always excellent. As a regular I am always amused to see people ordering beyond the capacity of their tummies because everything looks so damn good on the menu! If you want to go to a show I would be seated and get your order in by around 6pm because it does get busy, and the kitchen prepares the vast majority of dishes from scratch - not too many short cuts here, so it can takes 20-30 minutes for food to come out in busy periods (its worth waiting for). Service staff are always extremely helpful, like last time I took a pal with a sesame allergy and they were super accommodating. Highly recommend this restaurant and it only seems to get better over time!
This is a great venue and the food is delicious. Great service and appreciation that one needs a little time to peruse the menu and decide what appeals. It a great spot to meet and enjoy great cuisine before heading off to QPAC. I highly recommend.
Good food. Always very busy, so I had to be a bit patient with the food arriving - but all the best places are like that ! :)
Love Tai Tai! My partner and I love the food, the whiskey and the service! One of our favourite restaurants.
Food came out relatively quick except when they forgot one of the dishes - the crispy eggplant. The crispy duck was well cooked, but it was disappointing that the sauce was a sweet soy instead of hoisin. The Mongolian lamb was difficult to eat but the sauce it came with was very strange. It was creamy and strange in flavours not like the usual Mongolian flavour in Chinese restaurants. The crispy eggplant which came after we have finished everything and asked for it twice resembled a savoury banana fritter except the eggplany was still hard in the centre. Was not pleasant at all. We also had fried rice which was OK and a mushroom Claypot which was fine. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and not the modern Chinese dining we expected.
normally I enjoy myself at your restaurant, and I encouraged my friends to join me at Tai Tai for pre show dinner Wednesday night. we were ignored on arrival, shown out table with out a smile more of an inconvenience to the waitress. we had to aske to order 3 times, service was terrible, overall the whole night was terrible, I am sorry I took my friends there..
Have been here before and was impressed by the food and second time round was just as good!
Great tasty food and was a busy restaurant at even 6pm
Booking is a must especially if going to a show beforehand
Service was good
The Barramundi was very delicious as well as the deserts
I had a great meal at Tai Tai with my daughter before the theatre. Brilliant service. Great location. not noisy considering itis an open venue. I loved the waiter actually suggested we did not get the rice (given what we had ordered) I feel most places would have loaded us up with the extra.
I have three words.... Dumplings, Dumplings, Dumplings... this place has the best dumplings and if it couldn’t get any better, their customer service outstanding. I will definitely be visiting again and bringing all my friends.. Tai Tai is highly recommended recommended..
It's a great location but it's just cheap, greasy Chinese food at a high-end price.
My wife said that the food we ordered was of the same taste as what she has eaten in Shanghai. I found it bland though. As this is my review, then the rating is based on my personal preference. However, my taste buds might be off.
The food at Tai Tai was wonderful and we'll absolutely be back. The venue is a covered outdoor area, however it was raining and there was a fair bit of ain coming in the sides which detracted from the meal a bit.
Beautiful food and pleasantly surprised at the quality
The slow-cooked pork bao buns were exquisite. The fried ice cream with caramelised banana was also very good.
Unfortunately, prawns in their shells (Nonya Pineapple prawns), despite a delicious curry sauce, and thin strips of flour-coated beef in a sweet sauce were not such a hit. No way to clean hands after dealing with prawns other than going to the bathroom.
There was some mess on our table and once the plates were cleared it was obvious we were sitting in front of drips of sauce and spilled rice etc. We had to ask if the table could be wiped down/refreshed and it took some time before that was done. Other than this issue, the service was prompt and friendly.
Very good wine list but a little pricy. I enjoyed the relaxed venue.
The food was excellent but service very hit and miss. 1 entree delivered quickly but we also ordered 3 shared mains and rice. One diner needed a fork, one diner needed a plate and bowl. Rice arrived, then a few minutes later first main. Fork didn't arrive so diner used one provided to serve the food... not a big issue but the diner with no plate or bowl had to wait a substantial period before the second main arrived to remind the staff that a howl was needed. By the time it arrived the first main was cold. 3rd main arrived more than 20 minutes after the first.
Loved the food but it was significantly let down by the delivery of the courses and the wait staff following up on the missing items.
Terrific staff. Great decor. Contemporary Asian cuisine. Eye appealing. Tasty. Returning.
We went NYE and yes it was busy, so you expect there to be some delays and hiccups. The staff were fantastic. Unfortunately there was a problem in the kitchen with them not getting our meal order. We waited about 90mins for our first course and 2 of our main meals were never delivered.
However i have to commend the staff for their response as they were great. It has done nothing to deter us from returning. The food is fantastic, i love the busy street location and the staff are very professional.
Thanks for a great evening and Happy New Year to all the staff x
The menu offered unique combinations of tastes and was suberb. We will definitely return
The menu is good and the wine list covers all options but we felt pressured and rushed to order and leave although it was not full. Our sparkling water was topped up with still water and no one asked if we wanted more drinks. It felt like they wanted us to leave when we finished what we had. Food was good but mains brought out and left sitting open while we waited for rice. We were not offered to see menu again for dessert. With so many excellent dining options available in the area we will not go back.
The service and food were amazing. Highly recommend.
Worst experience I have ever had. Food was above average. Suggest to try other restaurants
My Partner and I found Tai Tai a Remarkable Restaurant, with Outstanding Food and Service...
Give it a Try and You won't Regret it..😊😊
Enjoyed dinner there again when we are in Brisbane. The char kway teow is delicious!
Visited 3 times and so far good experiences had-food quality /overall... the kind of place we would go back to any time as we find the menu safe for kids too and our kids love all dishes tried so far.
Excellent service matched by fabulous food! Highly recommend. Great spot for dinner before a show at QPAC!
Amazing food and fantastic service. Our first visit, it won’t be our last! Thank you.
Been meaning to go here for a while the smells and seeing some of the food delivered to the tables it looked excellent. Finally made it and yes it was excellent, food so tasty, service great, location pretty cool and good value for money. Thoroughly recommend Tai Tai and we will be back
Great for dinner before a show. A bit pricey for what it is but it's the location I guess. Service was good. Bit disappointed Deep Fried Ice Cream was unavailable at the time. Overall would go back.
Great menu and wine list. Waiters were efficient and lots of fun.
Very good food and ambience, I was looked after very well. Access was great too, I am disabled therefore that is important to me.
good food, presentation could be better, for thurs nt lacking table staff for service, food requested to be delivered all together but came piece meal prob due to lack staff, food makes up for it tad expensive.
Absolutely delicious and fresh dishes. Easily the best squid we’ve ever eaten and delicious dumplings! Best meal we had in Brisbane.
The Sichuan Chicken was nice enough but had peanuts (my partner is allergic) yet the menu didn't indicate that it'd contain peanuts. Pretty poor at best and dangerous at worst! Also didn't actually taste any Sichuan pepper in there, and isn't that the point? Shredded beef was more sweet than 'piquant' - it was like what beef dessert. Number 8 cocktail was delicious, as were the pot stickers. Overall a bit 'meh', even if the staff were lovely.
Good Asian food is hard to find - Tai Tai surpassed many. Service was brilliant.
Food was well presented, delicious and fresh. Staff were attentive and considerate that we had a deadline to get to the theatre. Will be back.
We enjoyed our pre theatre dinner, the food and service were excellent.
food was fantastic, we all enjoyed the feed me options, such a great idea. Lots of drinks choices. Plenty of room at our table.
Pork Dumplings were raw on the inside. Received an apology but not ok in the first place.
Service is good. A little too noisy on a busy road
Very cozy and staffs are friendly. Don’t have to wait too long for the food.
