The story all began in 2003 when Chef David started his culinary career. With over 15 years of experience culminating to being executive chef, Chef David and his family decided to finally open up their own restaurant, a dream the family had for years. Tacos Madre Mexican Cocina is the first concept that embodies "comida cacera," which translates "a home style of cooking". Opening the doors in November of 2021 in Costa Mesa, the restaurant was an instant neighborhood classic. With the success of Tacos Madre Mexican Cocina, the family decided to open up an upscale concept with a full bar program. The family is very proud to serve and be a staple in the community: sourcing the best ingredients, creating an atmosphere where people can come to celebrate and also create life's special moments. We really enjoyed the food and drinks, wait staff was very friendly as well. However they seemed to be very understaffed for a Saturday night. It appeared they only had 1 waitress tending to all the tables, about 6-8 tables while we were there. She did her best, but we waited a long time between drinks and food. Would love to be back when they have more staff available. We arrived two hours before seeing a show at Segerstrom and unfortunately food arrived so late that we had to take stuff to go because we couldn’t eat it in time (ended up leaving 15 minutes before showtime.)

Taco Tueday is the best deal. Tacos are delicious and if you get there before six appetizers and drinks are on special! The food and service are always exceptional!

Es un buen lugar para cenar , escuchar música , me gustó que la música no está tan alta es un ambiente agradable la comida es riquísima. Me gustó mucho las bebidas también un poco dulces pero están ricas. Yo creo que regresaría otra vez. Fue a salida de noche de chicas cenamos chismeamos, estuvo muy agradable muy rico el ambiente todo nos gustó.

The food here is consistently good. There tacos are innovative and delicious. Taco Tuesday specials are worth the visit. Make sure you try the guacamole and chips!

They actually did not have the squash flowers and Brussels sprouts- 2 of the three vegetarian items on the happy hour menu. Other people in the reviews also mentioned that.

It was more club then restaurant. Service focused on those drinking which we weren’t. This was a random selection as we are here for business from out of state. Food was good. Music was so loud we had to shout to be heard. Not at all what we had in mind.

This was the second time we ate here in a month. The first time was exceptional. The presentation of food was great and the flavors were amazing. This time our server mainly paid attention to those of us ordering alcoholic beverages. The food presentation was average and didn't look anything like the pictures nor like the previous dining experience. We regretted traveling so far to go a second time.

Loved the quesobirra tacos. There guacamole and chips are amazing. Also, got the best fish tacos. Everything I eat there has been good. Friendly servers.
