Sydney Cove Oyster Bar - Circular Quay
For the most delectable and inventive seafood dishes in New South Wales, enjoy a meal at Sydney Cove Oyster Bar for an unforgettable experience. For an ideal start to your meal, relish the brandade fish croquettes with fresh herb mayo and the chili and tamarind-spiced tiger prawns with spring onion and lime juice. Some of Sydney Cove Oyster Bar's larger plates include the grilled Atlantic salmon with smoky eggplant puree, shaved almonds and pomegranate reduction, the shellfish platter laden with Hervey Bay scallops with chili pineapple salsa, oysters, prawns, blue swimmer crab and marinated mussels and the surf and turf combination meal with Tajima wagyu rump steak and scampi in a crme au jus, perfect with a glass of wine.
Be sure to nab a seat on the outdoor patio where, day or night, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the harbor while enjoying your meal.
I have in fact, recommended Oyster Bar to a friend just this morning. The venue itself - and its position on the Harbour is stunning, especially when being fortunate enough to have a waterfront table. The setting is perfect, the food just right for the setting, and the waiters are typically excellent - helpful, warm, professional We have been lucky to also have a cruise ship across the way - and when they up anchor and manoeuvre out of the Harbour just after sunset - it's a glorious spectacle. thank you - we have been there on several occasions, and will be back again next week.
The choice of Sydney Rock Oysters was impressive, with those farmed at Merimbula the tastiest. The wine list was limited but had really interesting wines to make up for its shortness (happy with that). My companions had Barramundi and were very complimentary about the great flavour and preparation. I had beer battered flathead fillets which were okay but lacked flavour.
Great food ver friendly staff even on a busy day like Mother’s Day recommended strongly
Very enjoyable lunch, service was very good and the food was amazing.
Always the best place to eat drink and show off harbour-never fails to impress!
Very fresh seafood, nice ambience and view, very friendly and professional service!
Excellent service, Beautiful food
Which made our visit to the opera house such a lovely day
The location is absolutely marvelous. The food is club type food and the prices are astronomical. The menu sounds great, but it seriously is not. For the 2 of us for lunch it cost $360. On my plate was a lettuce cut into a quarter and dipped in dressing. The steak was well cooked but so bland and dry that I had to ask for tomato sauce. It was not value for money. To get service I had to be very obvious. The tables are so close together that the back of the person on the next table was resting on our table, this certainly stopped any real conversation on our table, however we heard all about their house renovations.
For this type of money I think Aria is better value.
Great food good service and of course a wonderful view
Food was fantastic as were staff matching the beautiful surrounding
Opportunity of a great location yielding a great restaurant wasted by ordinary and bland food and overpriced offerings.
We love eating here but it is expensive. But given the location and the fact the view is stunning you have to expect to pay top dollar
This is a superb restaurant. Of course the most beautiful setting. However this is well matched by the very attentive service. Food might bring me in but service gets me back and I will be back. The food and drink selection is superb and as for oysters, the selection is broad and delicious. Making a booking online is really easy with opportunity for requests. My previous visit was with 5 people and a special table was prepared for us with a brilliant view for my out of town guests. This is the place to get to.
Was a beautiful night sunset at the water, food and service was excellent. Until they jammed up a table for six next to our table for two, literally encroaching on our personal space.
As always the food and service was excellent The flat head and chips were beautiful.
The seafood was fresh with impeccable service. Amazing night view of the Sydney harbour. Will definitely visit again when I'm in Sydney.
Last night in Sydney. Wanted seafood and people and harbourside
Lovely restaurant with great food choices. Service was great and wonderful ambience. Will be back.
Our waiter was a bit cocky and unhelpful (knowledge of menu/not refilling drinks). Portions are small and quite overpriced we paid $230 for 4 ppl and was still hungry. Tacky shack on the side of the walkway, I would have gone to other restaurant. The only upside that it's by the water so the ambiance is quite nice
Pre-theatre dinner with friends; very efficient but friendly service; quality food and wine; fabulous setting!
Thank you, the service was great, our table was amazing next to the water, the food was very enjoyable.
We had a quick meal before the theatre. The setting is fantastic and the oysters were excellent. We had the fish and chips however the battered fish was little underdone. The batter was quite doughy not a light beer type batter. The service was excellent however and they got us out in good time for the show!
We tried oysters, all the varieties that were available that night, and they were good.
Hot plates were a bit pricey for their quality.
Staff was not attentive as expected.
Service & venue fantastic, oysters very good but 300g of prawns for $30 is pricey, and they were dark red, sticky & not fresh. The staff took 30% of the cost of the prawns off the bill.
Service was upbeat and on point. My server new my name and treated me like a guest at his home. Truly lovely and knowledgeable. The only fumble with service was when my server went on break, leaving backup servers to cover my dessert drop off and bill. They seemed confused.
Food was good, almost great. I wish the mussel portion could have been ordered for one. I was craving them so I ordered the portion for two and it was wasteful. Taste was ok. The crudités was excellent as were the oysters. Although the selection was different then what was on the menu. No big deal.
Great place, was lovely weather...great location !!
We had a pre-show dinner at the Oyster Bar. It was a rainy evening and this is an open air restaurant but we had a table next to the water under cover and managed to stay dry. We had an unbelievably great view of the harbour and bridge. You couldn't find a better spot to sit if you are a visitor to Sydney. We enjoyed our dinner but it was not extraordinary.
The tuna tartare and the oysters were fantastic but everything else we ordered was under seasoned and disappointing for what we paid. Would only suggest this place for the view of the bridge.
Lovely fresh fish served in a very pleasant setting. We will return
Friendly professional staff- very accommodating
Great service !
Good food, service and in a fantastic position. Reasonably priced
Wonderful service, quality of the entrees and mains are incredible. Only slight negative was the side of chips with chilli and rosemary was simply beer battered chips with salt, bit chilli or rosemary.
Server misinformed me about the gluten free nature of a dish I wanted to order and it arrived with several components with soy sauce with gluten
Dinner before La Bohème. First time visitors to Sydney. Our dinner experience was okay, just not excellent. Service was challenging until a new waitress took over our table. Food was pretty good. Location is great.
For the last night of a visit to Sydney we wanted to indulge on a nice dinner with a beautiful view. Our food was very lackluster especially for the price. I had fish and chips which were heavily coated in batter that was undercooked leaving a layer of uncooked goopy batter all over the fish. It was a shame because the fish itself was great and the chips were cooked perfectly. My husband's "wagyu" steak was incredibly tough and tasted as if it hadn't even been seasoned with salt and pepper but instead just thrown on the grill to char. Overall not the quality I expect when spending over $100 on dinner. To finish the experience we sat at our table with our napkins and silverware on our plates for 20 minutes before anyone checked on us or asked if we would like dessert or the bill. When a waiter finally did come to our table they didn't even ask how the food was. Terrible service.
Friends arrived from the US, perfect place to take in the view if Sydney Harbour Bridge and the sunset! Fabulous fresh seafood tower. Good attentive service. Highly recommend!
Great location. Great food and excellent wine list.
A perennial favourite. Great spot to sit & enjoy our beautiful harbour with a bottle of wine & oysters, a selection from the snack food menu or a full-on meal. You won't be disappointed.
Love the spot.
Got off to a slow start which normally would have been OK if we hadn't requested on arrival that we be processed earlier rather than later if possible because of another committment.
However IMMEDIATELY rectified when we mentioned it again after 15 minutes of seeing no one.
All of the food very tasty, as usual. A bit dissappointed with the scallop starter in that the quantity was 3 or 4 pieces, after asking for it as a main. BUT tasted great.
Alex and the crew do a great job making it the most pleasant spot in Sydney (the world?) for a bite, especially before or after a show or Opera House.
We have been going to SCOB for many years now, even when living overseas we always tried to make sure we got there while holidaying in Sydney.
There is no better place to have a beautiful meal, a chilled glass of wine and soak up the amazing harbour views. The food is always fresh and flavourful, the staff always friendly and helpful. Always a favourite!
