Sydney Cove Oyster Bar - Circular Quay
Unique experience. Well trained staff and delicious oysters!
Hot as western sun hits, had whiting tacos, way to chilli hot.Had Trouble with the waiters lack of English.Found strange at an Oyster bar the waiter did not know what a natural oyster was and had to get a different waiter.
Selection of oysters was varied and it was nice to be able to create our own plate to try them all. Our seafood selections - barramundi and prawn pasta were delicious. The setting can't be beat - even during a brief rain shower. Service - top notch.
My daughter recommended the Oyster Bar - she takes her overseas visitors there. Could not have had a more perfect evening. At first I thought the food was a bit pricey but had to admit our meals where absolutely delicious, worth every cent and the weather stayed fine which was a huge bonus with a table for two overlooking the quay and the water. What I call a lovely evening. Highly recommend.
Fantastic! Thank you very much! Would love to come back.
Thought the overall experience was over hyped . View and location excellent. Oysters very fresh so enjoyed the natural ones, the Kilpatricks were average. Ordered the Tuna which was on special but was chewy and unflavoursome , didnt slice cleanly and simply so not sure that it was fresh. The Barramundi was nice though . Chip and salad sides sort of club/bistro level. No desert and just had a Machiatto that was more of a piccollo capuccino so they dont make it properly. One glass of Margaret River Chardonnay and one 4 Pines Pale ale all up $220. Maybe eat somewhere else and then go for a walk down there
The service was amazing. The food is great. Simply having great staff adds a huge part of any business’ success . Fabio was one of the best waiters I have come cross in my international experience of dinning. Front desk MD wasn’t the best and she couldn’t find our booking and only to find out she has not paid attention.
Fabio made the experience greater than em all !
This is one of the best restaurants I have been too. Great views, awesome atmosphere and incredible seafood. If you like fresh, well prepared seafood then you are in for a treat! Really accommodating for my mothers birthday celebration too!
Always a wonderful evening with beautiful food and scenery ❤️
My fourth visit confirms my opinion that the location, service, food and wine are all excellent and worth the price paid
What better way to enjoy a seafood platter than overlooking the harbour bridge on circular quay. Wait staff were attentive but not overbearing. The quality of the food was outstanding. Good wine list. We ate there with our 10 year old son and he was made to feel very welcome. We had a fab table right on the harbour edge (not sure if that’s because we booked in advance). Outdoor setting so weather made a difference. I cannot fault this restaurant and would definitely recommend if visiting circular quay and looking for a relaxed vibe.
A wonderful spot to sit, sip and dine looking at the harbour bridge and all the harbour activities
Can’t be beat for seafood!!
Spur of the moment decision and lucky to get a table for 4. Beautiful food and fantastic service from staff. We live in between Portland and Wallerawang and every chance we get to escape, the Oyster Bar has been one of our favourite eating spots to go too....
The evening we spent at Sydney Cove Oyster Bar was one of my favorite memories in Sydney! Amazing food with a view to remember. Service was as good as it can be! This place is incredible!!!
Had the best table
Service was worth tipping
Food was great
Will go back again and try an evening meal
Great menu and venue. Service is good.
Great food, services and ambience. Would definitely come again.
Excellent venue. Disappointing service on the day plus 50% bill paid in cash caused a problem as no record of it when we were leaving. Had to have several discussions with the manager in order to reassure him we had paid in full.
The oysters were full of shell pieces. The prawn main had a funny taste. The service was poor. Waitress cranky and you got the impression she didn’t want to be there. Tables crammed. Very noisy. Prices just keep going up and up. Won’t be back!!
A lovely location which is let down by average food and service matching the food. Pricey for what you get, as one would imagine in that location.
My family and I - wife and 2 daughters - had dinner at the Oyster Bar. It was a really nice. Firstly, the seafood is really amazing - we had Moreton Bay Bugs, Sushi, Mussels, and of course the Oysters - perfectly cooked, very tasty. My daughters enjoyed fish & chips and pasta from the kid's menu, and they were happy too. The service was really good, just the right amount of checking-in with us, to some conversation, and when the girl's got a little bit cold sitting on the Harbour, the staff brought some blankets for them. I think the highlight was when the waiter brought out a watergun with the sushi and gave it to my youngest daughter and told her to shoot the seagulls so they can't attack the sushi!! Highly recommended, thank you. *L*
Our experience was ruined by the attitude of our waiter (I think his name was Mario - young, bearded Italian). He was not only rude, smug and condescending, but (by his own admission) he stuffed up our order without any offer of compensation.
Perfect place for a very good time!! Staff is very nice, a wonderful view of the harbour, food tasty... A bit expensive, but we do pay the location too. We recommand and will come back!
Oyster bar is in a fabulous spot. Whenever we have visitors weather they be from overseas or locally we always take them there and it never fails to impress !
Excellent food and service. the wine list could be a little more extensive. but as an open air restaurant this eatery is hard to beat.
Great staff. Thanks for the great table and the food was excellent
The best oysters, reasonable wine fir fair price and a sensible menu make the oyster bar Goff value. The ambience, the staff and the food are consistently good. I am a regular and will remain so
A wonderful restaurant to come to when you live in the country. We were very happy with our experience. Everything was excellent.
Fresh seafood and other delights delivered by a professional team right at the harbour's edge. You pay for the location, but it's worth it.
Excellent customer service, polite waiters and waitresses. Food is very fresh and delicious. Will definitely come again.
Tiny teeny serve of tacos.. a joke!
Beautiful food and location, always a good spot for a lovely meal
Good place to spend the afternoon watching the harbour go by!
The service and food were outstanding! I ordered scallops and they were hands down the best I’ve ever had!
Food has gone downhill and the long wait for it didn’t help either. Great location.
I don’t often write reviews but this outdoor restaurant combines a stunning waterside location adjacent to the Opera House with high quality food and superior service. We followed an appetiser of oysters with mains of char-grilled swordfish and Morton bay bugs accompanied by a Hunter Valley Semillon. I am often disappointed with restaurant seafood but this was quite outstanding. A shared blueberry cheesecake was a perfect finish to a memorable meal. It is moderately expensive but certainly delivers good value.
We had lunch here soon after flying in from Victoria (booked in advance). They were accommodating when our flight was delayed by an hour. Great table right alongside the water. Perfect for tourists. Only complaint (which we did mention when paying the bill) was the whiting taco’s were more like batter tacos. No chunks of fish unfortunately. Couldn’t taste or see fish at all. Also if you order the cheaper $25 caviar instead of the $180 caviar, be sure to put the entire micro-sooonful on a single blini rather than spread it out over 5 blini’s. Otherwise you taste nothing. A decent amount of sour cream or creme fraiche, like a golf ball at least - which wasn’t on par with the tiny amount of caviar received. Lovely surroundings and oysters and staff, thank you.
Beautiful setting with an idyllic location. Food of the highest quality, and service second to none, and combined with a bustling, harbour-side ambience creates an ideal atmosphere for an exceptional experience. Whether you`re a local or a visitor, I would emphatically recommend the Sydney Cove Oyster Bar.
