For the most delectable and inventive seafood dishes in New South Wales, enjoy a meal at Sydney Cove Oyster Bar for an unforgettable experience. For an ideal start to your meal, relish the brandade fish croquettes with fresh herb mayo and the chili and tamarind-spiced tiger prawns with spring onion and lime juice. Some of Sydney Cove Oyster Bar's larger plates include the grilled Atlantic salmon with smoky eggplant puree, shaved almonds and pomegranate reduction, the shellfish platter laden with Hervey Bay scallops with chili pineapple salsa, oysters, prawns, blue swimmer crab and marinated mussels and the surf and turf combination meal with Tajima wagyu rump steak and scampi in a crme au jus, perfect with a glass of wine.

Be sure to nab a seat on the outdoor patio where, day or night, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the harbor while enjoying your meal.

The food was exceptional. The service ... not as much. In his defense, the poor guy was waiting on half the restaurant. Overall, very good. We would definitely go back.

The view is amazing, but it’s premium price for basic outdoor seating.
The food is great, I think I’d visit more often if there were a few more mid range options.

A fabulous and classic place to eat oysters! The view is excellent, the service good, the seafood fresh, the wine list short but good and right by the water.
We always return.

The food was excellent and the view speaks for itself. Staff were friendly, accommodating and extremely efficient, with the meals arriving in record time despite how busy it was.

My only criticism would be the mains were a touch pricey given the portion size.

My wife and I are happy with smaller portions as we're not eaters for the sake of it, however if portions are going to be on the smaller side then $40+ per main is a touch expensive.

Otherwise, as mentioned above, everything else was perfect and we would be happy to recommend.

Cheers
Nick

Very vibrant waterfront restaurant located right on Circular Quay. All outdoor seating. One couple experienced a bird strike during their dinner. Food was excellent. Did get a little warm as he sun set and we weren't covered by the numerous umbrellas. A little pricey, but very busy.

I produced a story for a TV show years ago on Sydney Cove Oyster bar and have been a total covert ever since. I always want everything on the menu -but outstanding dish are scallops, side of roast potatoes, the fettuccini, massive part & rocket salad is always stellar but simple and the octopus & huge fish tacos - brilliant But the Pacific Oysters we had were second to none. Creamy, deep, clean and fresh...I'll be back - a LOT. Many thanks - KJ

Dined here Nov 2017 and loved it - five star review ; so my partner and I chose this place as our first lunch out together without our baby. Disappointed. Whilst the entrees of octopus, crab toast and oysters were divine the whole baby snapper was a let down. The wasabi and ginger dressing didn't exist and I spent the duration of the meal pulling fish scales out of my mouth. Whilst the service from the waitress couldn't be faulted when we advised of the issue with the scales she said they get the fish in already descaled so its an issue with the supplier, not them. Such a strange response - that's not our fault anf ultimately the kitchen should be checking the produce before cooking and sending to paying customers.

Was a lovely location, the cocktails were nice, the foodwas delisious and was served very timely. We were early for our appointed table, and were warned that we had to vacate seats after 1 and 1/4 hours as they were rebooked.
The view as always is sublime next to the harbour, and the venue is much quieter than the Opera Bar, which is good for people with hearing difficulties.

Wonderful experience for our overseas relatives visiting. Food was delicious and glorious atmosphere to have a glass of wine and watch the ferries go past right under the Harbour Bridge. I live in Sydney and I loved it. Wait staff were friendly. I think they were all form overseas also.

I had been looking forward to this night for a long time. My family and I are from Edinburgh, Scotland, and been told this was definitely a restaurant to visit whilst in Sydney, so, I booked it months in advance to ensure our table. It did not disappoint. Its situation is perfect, not too big, and right on the wharf; and a stones throw from our hotel. The staff are super friendly, with just the right amount of attendance; every one of them made sure our evening was perfect. Seafood is everywhere in Sydney, however, our food tasted so much better with the view we had. Book early, and requested a sea side table. You won’t be disappointed.

I have made a booking stating to sit with a decent harbour bridge view but instead they have allocated me to a random table available in the middle of the crowd where the sun was shining directly into my eyes and made me feel very uncomfortable. I have asked to switch to table with less direct sunlight after I have identified few with no one sitting there but then they said the tables were already being reserved.
It’s a table of 2 of us we wanted and those are exactly tables for 2, funny thing is I don’t see why those desired tables are specifically booked as they are also within the crowd with a bad view of the harbour.
The ridiculous thing is I found out through conversation that the desired tables weren’t actually reserved.
I am totally unsatisfied with the service and the misconduct of the management, I find it weird of not letting us switch tables having known that the tables we wanted weren’t actually reserved. I don’t know if it’s lack of care or something more serious about our nationality. And something else I would like to point out is the attitude of the people serving, I won’t say they’re rude, but they are just not polite.
I would tell people not to go there for sure, the food isn’t very good anyways.

Food was great. But unfortunately our Table was in the sun and it was very hot. Waiter seemed as though he would prefer to be elsewhere. Everything seemed like an effort. Eaten here many times previously and always loved the food and the location.

Our first trip to Sydney, expected to find great seafood. Booked one week in advance, and came here specially for the oysters but was extremely disappointed. It was not cold enough even though it was served on ice. Did not taste fresh at all. Best thing about this place was the view. Everything else was not worth it at all!

The overall experience is good and the service is pretty good as well. However, we feel the price of seafood platter is over-priced, in terms of what are included in the dish. It costs $180 but only 1 big plate with few seafood. Nothing is outstanding. We probably should just order dishes instead. The view is just beautiful and restaurant staff are very friendly to us and our kids.

Overpriced and poorly prepared food accompanied by a grossly overpriced wine list. With sub-standard service delivered on the run by poorly trained casuals. Suggest you look at training and customer service initiatives to shift your reason for existence away from your own profit needs to delivering an improved customer experience.

What fantastic service. We came for the view - which is spectacular, and were completely blown away by the fabulous food and service. Great spot for lunch, and far enough out of the way of the foot traffic heading to the Opera House that you don't even notice them.
