We were first through the door as the swan reopened yesterday lunchtime. They remembered us and welcomed us as returning friends. they even remembered what we like to order. They had not been able to restock avocado yet for their mouth-watering avo on ciabatta with poached eggs and bacon but went out of their way to construct a tempting alternative off menu and it was delicious . Coffee was great. Service perfect. Views sublime as always. Unlike some they take Covid precautions very seriously not letting us in until we had registered and sanitised. Well done them.
Perfect for family lunch on a beautiful sunny day - unrushed and enjoyable all round.
Lovely little pub, attentive staff and a good meal
Can recommend the fish & chips!
Excellent food and good service
Full Covid precautions and tables cleaned regulary
Great meal in an atmospheric setting
Went for the Roast, had the Pork Belly was not disappointed. Took friends who where travelling through the area. Nice walk around the village afterwards. Top Sunday!
Just what we were looking nfor, for our family meeting (4 of us)
Really good great service
Nice lunch, covid secure. Spread our well and adhere to safety
Amazing perfectly cooked steak & great recommended red wine to match! Service was top notch.
Excellent service, servers were lovely and had great menu knowledge, it was so helpful! The food was delicious from the amazing new menu. Would 100% recommend.
I had an amazing time at The Swan. Lovely meal and very attentive staff. Loved it
Amazing food, great service, relaxing and pleasant atmosphere. 10/10 experience, would highly recommend!
I appreciate these are hard times but feel that the drinks are overpriced and starters too! My Pepoer Squid was tasty but far too large a portion for a starter, a smaller portion at a slightly cheaper price for me would have been better (an option for it being a main meal could apply). Understandably you have to make money at this time of Covid but we, as customers, are also cash conscious at the same time!
Not comfortable with safety protocols - menus were paper yet not single use. Servers were handling cutlery
The staff were very welcoming with every Covid precaution being taken. Prompt service lovely food and dog friendly. Would definitely recommend it
Overall a lovely place to enjoy time. The staff are very nice and attentive. Unfortunately I ordered the burger and I was very disappointed. It was far too large to get a good bite. This is a mistake a lot of pubs make with burgers, I really don't understand it. I make burgers myself all the time and never have this problem. In addition the skinny fries it was served with where terrible. Dear swan-
Burger and fries is such a simple classic,Take the opportunity and get it right. Apart from that- the sticky toffee pudding was outstanding, genuinely one of the best Ive had!
I have been visiting for years and will continue to do so. I would love to see a few minor improvements on the food quality.
Good food and service but it was pretty much empty which didn’t help the atmosphere
Very attentive staff, the food was generally good and good portion sizes. I had the sea bass which was excellent. On a sunny day it would be nice to sit outside or request a table with a river view. Prices slightly high in some things like fish and chips when compared with more complex menu choices .
The meal was lovely. Just took a while to be served
We found the food pretty average and quite expensive for what it was. We had the roast beef and the potatoes were cold and a bit soggy, the pigs in blankets could have done with longer in the oven and the cauliflower cheese was so watery you couldn't actually taste any cheese. We were also asked several times by a number of people how our meal was which wasn't really necessary and with better communication we could have got away with only being asked once!
It was a busy Sunday lunchtime but even so the service was very slow. We waited 2 hours for our main courses because they had to remake the gravy but the main that arrived was cold, undercooked and the gravy was still terrible. Although the management gave us our meals for free it still left us feeling that we’d had a terrible meal. I know the Swan is usually much better but this was very disappointing.
We sadly had a very unfortunate experience at the Swan. Our food finally arrived after waiting an hour and a quarter - the manager was very apologetic and assured us that she would look into what went wrong. Unfortunately the food was also cold and poor quality, roast pork belly was just a cold lump of fat with barely any meat and crackling was soft. The children's beef roast for our 2 year old was the same size as an adult portion and had a slice of rare cooked fatty beef and what looked like a quarter wedge of raw cabbage - it was meant to be grilled cabbage but this was cold and not even cooked! They offered to recook our food but we declined and decided to leave. Very nice and friendly service but something went very wrong and the food was not good quality.
Fantastic service and food fantastic location parking alitlle tight but work it we will bring going back
Came here two years ago and had a lovely meal, alas things appear to have slipped here. A quiet intimate dinner was the plan, but we were placed by two large groups, and could hardly hear ourselves over the noise and the fact it echoed off the hard wood floor and atrium.
I order the rib-eye (£28) thst was not medium-well and rather cremated, with hardly any meat on it. The menu didn’t say it came with fries, the waitress didn’t tell me, so I ended up with extra fries (£5) that I didn’t need.
There were so many nice qualities about this place on the first visit that no longer exist now. Overpriced, under delivered and overcooked.
Sincerely hope this was a blip and it is better for others.
The food was very disappointing. I had very over cooked, dry chicken and my husband had a pie that was extremely dry inside. Portions of both mains were very small. Hardly any veg/potatoes to accompany it.
They had none of the mac n cheese croquettes starter so we ordered the truffle mac n cheese side instead which was actually quite nice, so filled up on that instead.
The staff were nice but letdown by lots of cobwebs on the lights/ceiling which put me off the truffle mac n cheese.
Have been here before and it was much better.
Was it pretty costly for what it was.
Such a shame as location is lovely.
Full English - £12 so better be good! Very average with black pudding cremated, bacon dry - no jam or marmalade for the toast. Had to ask for butter twice. Very disappointing.
Great service and great food - lovely atmosphere, would recommend.
Food was very poor and very expensive for what it was.
Waiting staff although cheerful were inattentive.
Will not be returning and will not be recommending it to others.
Service was great friendly staff. Food as always lovely
We had lovely time. Fantastic service, delicious food, a warm friendly ambience, great value and all very safe in Covid times. Wonderful time, thanks so much
Roast dinner was lovely, although cabbage wedge was too hard and apple sauce disappeared once I put gravy on. But overall good
Nicely decorated and polite service, but our roast dinners were a little disappointing. The vegan Wellington was a bit like a pasty, and the stuffing was missing from my boyfriends plate. Food quality could've been better for the price.
Very easy to book and the food/service was excellent.
I just really enjoy visiting the Swan, great food everyone is so lovely and always have a lovely evening.
Staff made sure we were safe and protected by following Covid protocol. Food was great. The 20 minute wait for the pies were well worth it. We didn’t feel rushed.
Good food for lunch (steak sandwich). White House wine very good
Good Table indoors by window to watch the Thames River
Service - unhurried but came when called.
Overall - checked on arrival with mask - taken to table - no issues with spacing.
2 adults 2 kids went for Sunday roast in pandemic - beautiful restaurant and pub, right on the river, lovely inside, wooden floors and very clean / modern in an old pub setting even with less than normal patrons, food was very good, price as expected, not cheap but not expensive for the quality - we had very good choices, half roast chicken, pork belly, kids chicken - great service would recommend and go again!
Nice pub in a lovely location. The food was very average and the tempura broccoli was stone cold in the middle. It was ok for a plate of food but for what it was a bit overpriced. The service was slow and to be fair the waiter apologised for this. There was really nothing that would make me go back.
Much better. I come here regularly and found that the kitchen had been starting to let the venue down. I’m really pleased to say that they have dealt with this and my latest experience was faultless. Everything was as it should be. This was a great relief because the venue, location and service has always been excellent. Keep it up! Would recommend.
