We had the degustation and were not disappointed and added the signature dish - a truly utterly buttery heavenly roti with a vegemite curry dipping sauce that converts the most hardened vegemite haters. Ah-maze-zing.

Bite sized deliciousness in the pie tee’s. Crispy tempeh with biting muntries.

Otak otak - silky spanner crab parfait goodness. Raw (ceviche) cobia with creamy lemony curd.

Peppery XO egg noodles crunched up with chicken crackling.

Delicious pink lamb rump with a native cashew cream curry.

Finished off with a perfectly constructed deconstructed Vietnamese coffee dessert.

I’m going back real soon.

Grab a seat at the bar to experience some heavenly treats whilst watching the action in the kitchen unfold before you. We had the set menu and found it to be inventive, wholesome and delectable in new ways. The staff are friendly and engaging. I still can't get over how tender the lamb was. Go

Great venue with fantastic food. Flavours and experience overall was great but service could be improved as wine and water was dropped when being poured by waiters.

Had no idea the dishes were so small. We were still hungry after we left and we’re not big eaters either.

Impeccable service in the front of the house is so important as no matter how delicious your food is, bad service can ruin a night out and the whole dining experience.

For all the rave reviews and the chef hat awarded to this restaurant, we had great expectations but the night for us ended on a sour note.

We understand the seatings are two hour slots. We were seated at the communal table and was booked in at 6:30pm. I was running late but my husband had ordered our food and he went a la carte based on the waitress advice as the set menu would make our time tight to finish our meal within two hours. When I got there the food had just arrived. Things were going fine, we were having a good meal.

The table next to ours finished their savoury dishes and at 8:15 was asked if they would like to have a look at the dessert menu. So when we finished our savoury dishes and the waitress came around to top up our water, my husband asked if we can have a look at the dessert menu. He was outright refused. I turned around and said you just offered the couple next to us just 2 minutes before if they would like to look at the dessert menu and then to say to us they can’t possibly serve us dessert as we were reaching our 2 hour slot. To top it off when we inquired what time their booking was, the waitress says they booked at 6:15 so when she offered them dessert they already passed their two hour mark. Yet we still had 15mins to our booking but it was too late for us.

I can understand you have a policy and you have bookings after us. If everyone was treated the same we wouldn’t have made a fuss. I am not one to be confrontational but when we were clearly provided with a inferior service and bad attitude, it was not acceptable.

We really enjoyed dinner here, our only regret that we didn’t have more time to enjoy it! The flavours and ingredients were complex yet delicate, flavours and ingredients we’d not tried before. We loved it.......fantastic!!

We had high hopes for Sunda but unfortunately our expectations were not met. The waitress we had was quite rude and unhelpful on several occasions which lowered the overall dining experience. She did not smile, she seemed annoyed that we didn’t all want water, she didn’t clearly explain which dishes were coeliac, vegetarian and gluten free in fact most of the time we had no idea what the dishes were as her explanation was muffled and quick.
We ordered the set menu which she said was good and no one left hungry, when we had a significant amount of food left at the end she said in a very patronising manner “I did tell you there was an abundance of food for the set menu” which she absolutely did not and regardless should not have spoken to customers like that.
We didn’t tip which is a real sign of our displeasure, apologies that the kitchen suffered on account of one front of house staff member.
I won’t be telling people to head to Sunda, it’s a shame as we were excited at what the restaurant claimed to offer but we’re all so disappointed.

Absolutely brilliant - what a rare find
The architecture matched the quality of the food – oysters a highlight and the orange Pinot Gris a delicious combo

As an Indonesian, Sunda_ creates a unique culinary experience with an intresting blend of Indonesian ingredients with modern fusion. The restaurant's ambience supports the overall theme of the experiment experience. Though a bit on the pricy side, I would love to dine there again!

Just brilliant food. Such exciting, clever twists on classic dishes with big punches of flavour; yet still showing beautiful restraint. THIS is what Australian cuisine is all about. Excellent wines and service as well. Congratulations chef Khanh Nguyen, Sunda is a triumph.

Memorable experience - absolutely loved it. Beautifully-balanced and exciting usage of native Australian ingredients. It was bold and inventive, whilst also hitting the mark. So delicious! We enjoyed the roti with vegemite curry, wagyu rendang pies, otak otak, the smoky Fremantle octopus, lamb rump (on another level!), cabbage and egg noodles. Nice architectural design and acoustic ambience as well. Looking forward to going back :)

The beef pie was the highlight of the night and the egg noodle was good as well.
The only thing we weren't impressed was the kangaroo dish. It was tasty but the gaminess of kangaroo was overpowering...

The food at Sunda is creative, beautifully balanced and makes you want to re-order what you just ate. The dishes are designed to share and there is a separate menu for coeliacs. My friend and I ordered solely from coeliac menu and were blown away by the number of dishes available. Everything we would have picked of the main menu was on the gluten free menu.

Highly recommended! Book your table now. You won’t be disappointed!

Sunda was fantastic, the service was seamless and it was great to see the kitchen at work in perfect harmony.

Each dish was delicious but the standouts were the Otak Otak and the XO noodles. It was great to see so many native ingredients featured in a way that wasn’t tokenistic.

Food was alright. The place is soooo very hot!!!! I had to take off my baby’s clothes because it was that hot. The place is not really child friendly. The host was blaming me to not put the baby into the booking request, which I thought quite weird because most of restaurants I’ve been into they never really blame the customer. They really need to do something about the heat for upstairs area. It wasn’t pleasant for the 5 of us. And portion is a bit small for the price they charge.

Great place, great food, an energetic vibe! The wine option is good, better with you're sharing a bottle. I felt good sitting in the bar, watching the cookers working. A small delay to serve drinks, and a not soo good sparkling water. But apart from that, it was a great experience.

We booked the early seating, from 6 until 8. The food was excellent, and the recommendations our waitress gave for both food and wine were perfect. The only real annoyance was the repeated reminders that we had to be out the door soon. It really felt like we were being rushed, we were told that we didn't have time for the set menu, and that we didn't have time for dessert. Meanwhile the couple next to us arrived after us, ordered the set menu without any comment given, and managed to finish it well within time. We ended up finishing and leaving by 7:30 to go look for dessert elsewhere.
